It's weird, right?…read more I was in panic mode during my final days of studying for a certification exam for my work, so I decided to head over to the library to free me from distractions so I could really focus. Let me tell you, folks, heading to this location for some peace and quiet was a BIG mistake. The library itself is on the small scale with a few tables set up here and there and, from what I could tell, two computers that were available to use. I headed for the back corner (prime studying location), which happens to be next to the location where the two librarians are parked doing their thing. Within five minutes of being there, the librarians were in full on conversation mode about their cats, their friends' cats, this person's family, that person's car...whatever they could possibly think of. This is a library, right? Right. What happened to all the shhh-ing and the inside voices? Or have the rules changed? I decided to stick around and pop on my headphones to drown them out. But just when I was getting back into the wonderful world of Finance, an older gentleman came in to check out a book. This wouldn't have been an issue, but it turns out he already had FOUR overdue books out. Scandalous!!! I couldn't take anymore. I lasted twenty minutes in there. And no, I didn't say anything to them. I should have, but I was better off just walking out and going back home. I guess what I'm trying to say here is, don't come to this location if you're trying to study or concentrate. Or if you do, I wish you better luck than I had.

This is an unaffiliated library that has nothing to do with government funded/county/state/city…read morefunded library systems. It's important that one knows that going in. They are an independent library. It costs $3 to get a library card and be allowed to check out books. They are funded entirely by community support and donations. Everyone I have interacted with there is very kind and friendly, but I honestly stopped going after a short while because their selection is very, very limited. I support them and the reason they exist but in this day and age I have to be honest and say their existence is somewhat superfluous when one can get just about any book one wants from numerous other sources, free or cheaply.

I didn't have my laptop with me so Panera or other free wi-fi locations were not an option. And so to the local library I went. They had 3 computers set up for Internet use, as well as wi-fi. Did I mention it was free? The connection was pretty good and fast. The library itself is pretty small and is connected to Wachovia. Back when I lived at home, I'd come here for books and movies. They also sell used books as well. Thanks, Paoli Library for your free and fast Internets, without which my 15 minute search would have taken easily an hour at the 'rents.

First of all, I have to say that I am very impressed with this library. This has a great…read morecollection of everything. Plus, I am grateful that they have a pretty extensive collection of DVDs with new release ($1.50 rental for 3 days on new release and a week for old titles). With all the Blockbusters closing around the area, this is the only place where you can browse through DVDs on a shelf. Pretty much everything around me are just RedBox and Blockbuster Express kiosks. There is a nice computer cluster with reference section. Also, you have Children's downstairs which is nice. Plenty of conference rooms for study groups which is nice. My only gripe about this place is that this is a cell phone dead zone. You literally cannot get a cell phone signal unless you walk outside from the building into the parking lot. It would be nice just to set your phone on vibrate and receive calls when you are studying.

I live in a section of the city that I've happily discovered is surrounded by libraries and each one has its own character. Visited the North Wilmington branch for the first time last week. It's definitely one of the smaller branches. There's a daycare attached to it which is nice and so is the staff. Their DVD collection is small as well but I was still able to find new releases there. You'd be surprised to know these public libraries get new releases about the same time Redbox and Netflix does. All you need is a membership and practice good borrowing habits. Another plus, they have their own parking lot. Big deal since this branch is on the very busy Market St. heading towards Philadelphia Pike.

This library has a lot of potential and is definitely a blessing to the community, but, it…read moreunfortunately falls short in places. Decided to stop in Tuesday night since they are open 10-7 then and Thursday. The space is definitely a lot smaller than you'd think from the outside. The actual library is on the 2nd floor with some kind of office (Probably the history room; I didn't look at the sign too long as there was a meeting going on and the door was ajar.) off of the flight of steps. It is probably around the same size of my highschool's bibliophile hangout. The selection is definitely just as meager and the shelves seemed disorganized, but, I did manage to find 4 titles too take home. Maybe I was missing something and overlooked the 20k volume they boast. This isn't their fault, but, just as a note the Delaware County Library System doesn't seem as tech-savvy with their website features as Philly. I really enjoyed an more user-friendly catalog and being able to do inter-library loans digitally. They do have an Ebook and audio service, though, which is a plus to make up for that. I'm curious to see what sort of programs they have for adults as time passes as I don't have children. The only thing I saw advertised was computer literacy classes. It is worth bringing the kiddies, though, as they hold family movie nights among other events. Otherwise the staff was nice and the space was quiet and cozy. Will return, though, I may be talking to one of the staff to bring me in some titles in the near future.

Love the Ardmore Free Library. It is small but they are very helpful and they make the most of…read moretheir limitations. They kids section in the basement is a huge hit with my kids and even their daycare comes for story time occasionally. I'd donate money to them but my wife more than makes up for that with the amount of fines we pay for late returns. Not enough wonderful things can be said about their staff. Always helpful, always kind... So happy to have them as a cornerstone of our community.

Dating back to 1926, the Ardmore Library is small, charming and the oldest in the county. Despite its size, you're not restricted by what's there; you can go online and reserve books from any local branch. Two things in particular struck me: 1) if there's no hold on a book, it automatically renews -- with a few exceptions -- after three weeks. Apparently, this will happen twice. 2) you can go to the library and get free three-day passes to participating museums and gardens. Have a back-up, since there are a limited number of passes, sometimes only one per library per venue. The people working here are very nice and in a city where one should know how to parallel park -- that wouldn't be me! -- the library has a parking lot.

Last night we were driving by on our way home and saw the bright lights and decided to stop in. Wow this place is spectacular! So glad we parked the car and walked around.
