The only downside to this beautiful facility is that staffing is a bit inconsistent. The positive…read morenews is that they are remarkably communicative and let you know if you follow on Instagram. Good children's programming with fun corners to crawl into with a book. They have a fabulous volunteer group that tend to their lovely garden, clean up and host a fabulous book sale annually. They have a connection with the other libraries and can order for you AND they're on the Libby app which works great for me. Super interesting programming from time to time.

Satisfyingly unique in structure and service, the Falls of Schuylkill Branch Library in the East…read moreFalls Community is the perfect example of library-community interaction at its best. Benefitting from one of the largest Friends of the Library chapters and a community that reads and has a strong sense of what their library should be like, the Falls branch offers a collection of materials both broad and deep. Your chances of finding that obscure title in poetry, literary criticism, cookery, or history will be quite good, as will your chances of finding the latest by Koontz. There is a fine and comprehensive children's collection, as well. Programs and activities offer a range from monthly todder story times in the artistically rendered Story Time Room, programs for all ages of children, an after school program, 4 book clubs, travel lectures, author talks, an annual Bastille Day soiree, Christmas Tree sale, and one of the largest used book sales in the City (proceeds benefit the branch library). The staff is prompt, persistent, personable, and knowledgeable. As one of the busiest branches in the Free Library of Philadelphia system, they work hard to strike that rare balance of keeping up with the demand while staying attentive to each and every patron. Pleasantly, they succeed most every time. Finally, the building itself will attract your eye, set amongst a small, award winning garden yard and tall evergreen trees on the corner of Midvale Avenue and Warden Drive. You'll look up to a vaulted high ceiling, white plaster with dark wood beams arched across the whole length; peaked, high-set windows; architectural woodwork throughout the interior; all set within a stone structure in the English Collegiate Style complete with a small steeple including a weather vane that has an intersting story of its own. Make no mistake, the structure was built in 1913 specifically to be the library for the East Falls community and has filled that role with pride and prestige ever since.

Very small library with no space for library patrons with laptops. When I inquired about where I…read morecould use my laptop, as I do when I visit other Free Library locations, the librarian was unnecessarily rude and began complaining about how they can't "obstruct walkways" (as if that was what I was asking him to do), etc. I was simply asking where would be a good location to use the laptop and was responded to with what seemed to be pent-up anger and vitriol from the librarian. I was made to feel very uncomfortable by this individual by simply inquiring as to where I could use my laptop as many people do in their local libraries. All Philadelphia Free Library locations offer FREE WIFI for those who have a library card. So I can't for the life of me understand why this individual jumped down my throat when I asked him about whether they have a designated space for laptop users. I'm giving this location two stars rather than the one I should be giving it; due to the woman who checked my book out being extremely professional unlike her coworker. i cannot recommend this location due to my experience there.

For children, twice-weekly storytimes and holiday events are offered. For schoolchildren, there is homework help and after-school clubs, Clubs and free sessions are also offered for adults. Those of us living in this community are lucky to have this library.

This Library is a hub of activity for the community and a great resource for all. The kids program…read morethey have for the neighboring school is something I wish I had as a kid. And the folks that work there never fail to help if I come to them with a question.

Do not come here if you expect the library to be quiet. I came here today and it was weird. Patrons…read moreunderstood the library is supposed to be quiet but apparently not the staff. Apparently, they thought the library is the bar or Starbucks. Today around 2:30-3:30, just about the staff gathered around the book check out counter carrying like it was Happy Hour. They were loud and giggling, the whole library could hear them. It went for 10-20 minutes straight. I don't know what was going on but none of them seem aware that they are still on the job and suppose to be quiet. Eventually, they stop. Then, 10 minutes later, a lady and a boy come in and start to conduct what is an interview/orientation. The lady and the boy are so distracting that both myself and another patron sitting near them leave. Not to mention, the lady and the boy are in the adult section. I look for someone in the adult section to tell them to conduct this interview elsewhere. But no staff member is there. The only ones are the previous loud staff members who either at child's section or check out. So, I leave. Can't comment on their library policy or the books they have but can comment their ability to control noise is terrible. And I only went to study and had to leave a library for being too noisy. Anything around them would be more quieter, like the nearby Starbucks or bar.
