After we settled in we stopped in Ascots Pub for lunch. We grabbed a Kensington Burger. It was excellent. Perfectly cooked on a delicious Brioche roll. I also had a fantastic beer recommended by Maria our bartender who was awesome! The beer was Thomas Hooker No filter. Excellent IPA. Very crisp , not to hoppy wits definite citrus taste. For dinner we went to Kensingtons. Classy high end restaurant with great atmosphere and service. We started with drinks. Old fashioned for me , lemon drop martini for my beautiful wife. Both great. For dinner . I started with the New England clam chowder. Very good, not as good perhaps Newport RI where my wife is from but for a Long Island guy pretty good. A bit of pepper did the trick. My wife had filet mignon medallions which included puffy potato crochets . She said the potatoes were pillowy and amazing. Steak was delicious. 2 nice sized pieces seasoned and cooked to perfection I had the Ricotta gnocchi. Good, not great for me. I enjoyed the gnocchi but it was too busy with excessive vegetables and such. Still, quite tasty. The following day we attended our family wedding. Awesome time. Most of which was just centered around our family and enjoying a great time! However, the food was great, the staff was efficient and friendly. It's easy to fall asleep whether you are in the relaxation room or during a treatment. My granddaughter really wanted to get a massage but was a bit uncertain so we opted for the duet massage. We were in adjoining rooms with an accordion door that opened up so we could enjoy the massages together. The ladies did such a good job on us. We left feeling very relaxed. My granddaughter had a facial and her skin was absolutely glowing afterwards. She was happy to have had it done and kept talking about how soft her skin felt. We had lunch at Kensington's. We shared a delicious appetizer of Korean fried chicken. For lunch she ordered the steak frites and enjoyed every morsel. I had the caprese flatbread, which was delicious and light. Perfect for a day at the spa. We enjoyed the amenities they offer very much. There is a pool, hot tub and sauna to use throughout your visit. They offer complimentary snacks in the afternoon just outside of the spa entrance. She was so relaxed that she slept most of the 45 minute drive home. I'm so glad they allow 14 year olds there. I understand time is money, but it was a weather emergency, and I called to apologize and reschedule to try to rectify the situation as best as I could.

So this will help the review. The Thursday night we stayed was my mother and I, she got a junior suite. It had 2 king size beds, a beautiful living room area with a lot of seating and tv, a huge walk in closet and beautiful decor all around. This was a perfect set up for all the girls to get ready for the wedding the next day, it was spacious and made for beautiful pictures. Some areas do need a little cleaning up, and some decor needed a little tweaking but overall the room was magical. We stayed on the 10th floor and overlooked the city, it was a beautiful view. An issue that I ran into was the doors slam HARD. You'll get used to it but it sounds so loud you can hear everyone leaving their rooms if they don't slowly close the door themselves. Also the toilets when you sit they move, kind of feels like they're broken even though they aren't so be mindful of that. And then being that high up be mindful it takes about 5-10 minutes for the shower water to warm up. It does get extremely hot after that waiting period but if you didn't know you'd think there's no hot water. The check in process both times was pretty smooth. When my husband and I checked in for our stay, the lady who checked us in was pushy and kind of rude. I didn't like her very much, an older taller woman. All the younger people were sweet as pie and very helpful. We stayed In a one bed and this was excessively smaller to what I had the night before of course but we worked with it. I think for the price point for this room it didn't match. Yet again we needed the hotel for pictures and the ambience, and it did its job being able to take pictures in the lobby, the grand staircase the balcony area all of those were worth it. But I would never get that room again , it's not worth it. The decor is beautiful don't get me wrong but we had too much stuff from the wedding that room became extremely tight- fast. The elevators are very small, and creepy. But they did their job. The security personnel were great. They did their job, were great to talk to, and very kind. They even helped us navigate places- when we had questions. They became like our friends because we used them a lot since so many of us were in and out to prep for my wedding adventures. All and all I had a great time.

The hallway looked like it needed to be redecorated. Parts of the hotel (and room too) looked modern but nothing matched--it was like they threw a bunch of colorful decor and placed them all together. Front desk staff were not very friendly either. One good perk they had was they gave us two daily $15 food/beverage vouchers to use at the cafe downstairs. They also had a restaurant attached to the hotel so that was convenient if you were hungry. LOCATION: Good location, close to all the downtown hot spots, within walking distance. Also, there's a self-parking garage across the street. However, the hotel is located right across a park, so there was an event throughout the day which was extremely noisy and we could hear the loud music--was very disruptive when we were trying to rest.
