I came here to have two prints framed. I needed a specific look to go in the room I was hanging…read morethem in, and also a specific size. The woman working there just fought me tooth and nail about what I wanted done (I wanted a large frame with an art gallery look - a lot of matting, very clean and uncluttered). She kept insisting the only thing that would look good is to make the frame very small, like 8x10 and then to use a very dark mat that would match the background of the print. To me, that is a very 1980's-1990's style (of which the shop had an abundance of examples like that on the wall), but even if it was the "proper" way to do it, its not what I needed or wanted. I ended up compromising slightly (made the frames slightly smaller and adding a second mat to match a color in the print) and the work the shop did was beautiful, so it worked out in the end. I dont know if she has a lot of people ordering crazy stuff and then being unhappy with the result, or if she is just very set in her ways, but it was exhausting and I might have to reconsider this place next time I need artwork framed.
