I don't shop at Hobby Lobby as often as I once did due to Hobby Lobby's stance on issues and politics, but maybe once or twice a year I visit to buy holiday decorations or craft supplies. Today was one of those days. Hobby Lobby has a wide variety of items. This especially includes fabrics, frames, knick knacks, silk flowers and art supplies. And the employees have always been helpful when asked. Quick tip: Download the Hobby Lobby app to get 40% off one regularly priced item per purchase. Many items are already marked down 20-60% daily too. I do wish Hobby Lobby's website though was more up-to-date with the current COVID climate. As far as I can see, there is no pick-up at store or curbside pick-up option. You can only buy online to ship. As the current reigning Duke of the Hobby Lobby, I feel compelled to write a review. So how did I end up at the Hobby Lobby so many times that I was able to claim the crown? Simple answer... The framing department. I am not a fan hobby lobby's general business stance on LGBTQ folks, and typically avoid supporting businesses with such stances -- but in this case, there is no other framing shop in town that can offer the quality for the price. Plus, this Hobby Lobby has a secret weapon -- Sandy! Sandy has worked at Hobby Lobby for 8 years! Every time I've walked in to the framing department with some vague idea of what I want and the intention to keep to my small budget, Sandy has been there to assist. Example: I needed 24 odd sized screen prints framed for the Board Members of my non-profit-- and had a budget of $400. Sandy measured and totaled; then measured and totaled some more, helping us brainstorm about what work we could do ourselves to save on cost. She gave us her full attention, treating us with honesty and respect. She understood our budget constraints and truly thought of everything she could do or offer to save us money. We ended up purchasing pre-made frames (during a 50% sale), cutting the prints down ourselves (saving us $1 for literally every cut they would have made) and paying her to prepare perfectly sized acid free foam to protect the prints. She also suggested and helped us find a special black touch-up pen for the frames. (Since wall frames tend to get little bumps and scratches.) The custom cut foam boards were ready a week later. Granted we are a non-profit so there was no sales tax ... our entire project cost $364! Woo-hoo.. under budget!! She was so incredible that I asked if I could snap her picture for Yelp! She said yes and she's now the picture that pops up when you check-in. After I snapped the pic I got a message from Shan K. It said something like "Sandy is the best, I love Sandy -- she helps me frame all of my kid's artwork!" After having such a great 1st experience spending my company's money and seeing how high quality things turned out, I told my Mom I wanted to get my UofL memorabilia framed as my birthday present. So Mom and I visited HB and there was Sandy! I came in with literally a mismatched bag of posters, autographs, magazines, game day programs, trading cards, tickets and prints. Sandy let me spread it all out all across the counter. She helped me find what I could fit into a pre-made frame and what had to be custom. She even introduced me to an even cheaper, but super cool "floating frame" for game tickets and photographs. She explained every single detail about how the magazines and newspaper needed to be mounted in the custom fram, still giving me options in matting or frame type. She offered lots of pro-tips about why to avoid one large frame and how to organize things to make the pieces seem cohesive. She gave us nearly 2 hours of her time as I weighed options and came to final decisions. This framing job won't be under that same $400.. but my Mom was extremely pleased with the quoted prices for custom frames -- and I'm pleased to save Mom some money by doing several myself using the pre-made frames -- which I'll purchase when the frames go back on sale for 50% off. General round up of custom-framed items: - Sports Illustrated magazine with basic black frame ($42) - full-size newspaper with thick black frame and red trim lines ($75) - really large original screen print with 2 tone single matting ($100) (the frames have been ordered, so no pics of finished product yet) As I need other frames I will return to Hobby Lobby and wait for Sandy- and if Sandy were to ever move stores.. even to the other end of the Earth (like the Outer Loop store) .. I'd drive across the Earth for her great customer service, level of expertise, undivided attention and unwavering cost-efficient brainstorming. Herne's Horns! Did I find someone to help me at Hobby Lobby? What nonsense is this? This may be my favorite politically incorrect craft supply store ever. Sometimes I love these places and other times they make my skin crawl. I like the idea of making something myself but I don't like the idea of giving money to a company that pretends to follow Christ but breaks the law left and right and when so many things were made by slaves in China. However, not everything is made in China and the corporate overlords being from the Devil doesn't mean the people who work for them are bad folks. I was able to get help from two different people on my most recent visit (I am redoing a chess set) and was happy with how things progressed in the store. I just hope my chess set turns out great. Why has it taken me so long to shop at Hobby Lobby? I'm a fan of arts and craft stores and thought I had been to all the local stores. Boy, had I missed the boat! This store has absolutely everything an artist, crafter, or creative person could want. Prices are good, selection is fantastic and to top it all off they run a weekly ad in the Courier-Journal newspaper that has a 40% off coupon for one regular priced item. As if my 30 minute drive wasn't enough... I was running behind and drive thirty minutes out of my way to pick up knobs. I had called prior to driving and was told by a boy that the knobs were in fact 50% off this week. Well I found out quickly that was not true. Had this not been the millionth time this has happened, I would not be so upset! But the staff is horribly trained. They are rude and management is always snooty. It's safe to say I was about to panic for multiple reasons. One, I've already stated. And two, I had a project that had to be complete for a homecoming surprise where the attendee arrives before I can go elsewhere for knobs. And when I approached the man with the bald head and mustache, he seemed offended that I nicely explained my challenge. He was aggressive and treated me as if I was out of line for addressing that his staff should be more aware and to please bring it up to them to tell us correctly. New management but same crapola. This is one of the many times management has upset me and lost out on a decent size of money! I had 48 single knobs and 18 double knob handles to purchase. I was so desperate that I would have paid full price had I not been told otherwise, for the millionth trillionth time. Again, it is a place I have an incredibly difficult time finding anyone to help me, should I need help. And one can easily become overwhelmed by the vast amount of stuff that is on display. I think the best way to describe my opinion on this location is "neutral." I continue to go to this Hobby Lobby due to where it's located; it's fairly close to a lot of stores I shop and run errands at. I will say that I love Hobby Lobby during its 50% sale off wall decor, and nothing much outside of that. I would not recommend coming here for art supplies and such just because it does not price match, accept competitor coupons, or offer military discount (we all know what company does, and I would recommend going there instead). I am not docking a star for the reason I listed above though-- that's just the company's policy. This location loses a star due to its staff's lack of customer service. I was walking around this store for roughly an hour and a half, and I was not asked once if I needed any assistance. In addition to this, once i finally decided to pay, the cashier realized there was no tag on an item and flagged down another staff member to find the price. The second staff member began to look it up on her phone where she failed to find the price. That same person then told *me* to go and find the same item, but with a price tag. This is not a huge issue, but having worked in customer service, I have never asked a customer to get out of line to do my job. The least that should have been done is someone should have accompanied me, asking me if I could help them locate the item. This would've shown that they are more than willing to help, but want to speed up that process with my assistance. Again, not a huge issue, but shows lack of customer service. With this review, I will post my haul of what $84 got me during their 50% off sale for reference (it's a really good sale/deal in my opinion). read more

The cons: I couldn't find an employee in the store to help me locate items. If you are crafty, you will love the HobbLobbs. They have everything your crafty little heart could ask for. I found tons of decor that I used for my vintage themed wedding last year and the sales are always good & plentiful. Keep an eye out for the fairly large clearance sections throughout the store - they mark stuff down pretty quickly. They also have a great fabric selection that's a bit cheaper than the local fabric stores. My very favorite thing about the HobbLobbs is that they will allow you to use the 40% off of one item coupon if you show it to them on your phone. Hobby snobby, I used to be a big fan of this place. I could just get lost in the isles with all my creative ideas, but the last time I was here it was absolutely insane. I just wanted to go down one isle to get some yarn. This was made impossible by the staff taking inventory. I literally couldn't fit in the isle. I mentioned to the workers on the end of the isles that I would like to shop in this isle for a moment and I wasn't even given eye contact. I know they weren't deaf because one of them yelled price check and a manager came running. I just wish they paid the same attention to their customers. Needless to say I will be shopping at Joanne's from now on. It only takes once for me. They acted like my money didn't matter. Shopping should never be this painful. Hobby Lobby... I would avoid this place at all costs just based on the company who runs it. But I will try and stick to personal experiences in this location. To start with, they never seem to have enough people working the floor of this store... and they have so many different products spread out across the room, someone who could point me in the right direction would be nice. I went in looking for a gift for my mom and it took me 5 minutes just to find the correct section and another 20 minutes to find the specific product I was looking for. I actually actively sought out someone to ask, but found only other shoppers struggling to find the items they were looking for. I know Hobby Lobby has great deals, and also probably has the supplies you need, but honestly, unless you know what you want and more importantly, where it is in the store, I'd recommend going to one of the local craft stores where you might actually find someone to help you! read more

I spend waaay too much time and money at stores like this for my different art and creative projects. The stores are always clean, a great selection (in arts, crafts, photography supplies) basically if you go into the store I am familiar with the back wall and right-hand corner. Sorry, they have many other departments but I never shop in those. Anytime you go, of you have a smart phone you can go to Hobbylobby.com and show them their weekly coupon - normally 40% off one regular priced item and they will honor it. Side note, if you ate buying a few more expensive items you can check out with your coupon, take out your item and come back in and use it again ( only on smart phone coupons) if you print from a pc/Mac they will keep it and you need to print more than one. They will allow you to use as many as you want but they do require you to take your purchase outside and return (without it) to use another coupon. 40% makes it worth it though of you have an expensive hobby (or three) like me. Enjoy. Oh, the 40% coupon is off regular price, not valid on sales. I will say one thing negative. They make returns too difficult. For example (Very true, and frustrating) - returning an unopened item for about $5 WITH receipt that I paid cash for. Had to show ID, fill out several lines on a form and had to wait for a managers approval. Are you kidding me? I could see other return scene rips being more complicated but that was a 10 minute ordeal for a $5 item with a cash receipt. I love hobbies, but I hate Hobby Lobby on Breckenridge Lane! It has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I like the one in Clarksville much more. I took the Wilton cake decorating classes at the one in Clarksville and advise any Louisville cakers or crafters to drive across the bridge for your supplies, unless you like being treated terribly. The bad experience at this location made me hesitant to go to any Hobby Lobby's in the future. On my last visit to the Breckenridge Lane store (and by last I mean literally the last time I ever go there) I had a few different projects I needed supplies for. I went armed with my coupons and was looking forward to the sewing and crafting ahead of me. That excitement turned to disappointed very quickly. The first employee I asked for felt pointed in the general direction and said, "It's somewhere over there." Ok... I asked her where specifically and she said, "I don't know. Just look around." Really? She should have offered to come with me and help me find it so in the future she could know where it was. The second offense came from an extremely rude employee in the fabric department. I went to the cutting counter at the same time another customer approached with a large tapestry. There were two employees working one employee gave me a nasty look and told me the woman with the tapestry was first and I'd have to wait. No problem. I could wait. My mom was also waiting to have fabric cut. The other employee said she'd cut the fabric for my mom. By this time another customer came and stood behind me in line. The woman with the tapestry was finished, so I went to get my fabric cut with the rude employee. She informed me I'd have to "Wait my turn" (even though I had patiently waited the whole time) because the woman behind me in line was next. I told her I'd let the employee who was assisting my mom cut my fabric because she didn't have such a terrible attitude and she rolled her eyes at me. I wish I'd gotten their names. This is my first negative review on Yelp, but it was the worst I've ever been treated in a store. When we went to the checkout the lines were extremely long in the few lanes they had open. When it was finally our turn the manager came over and told our cashier to go on break and told us we'd have to wait just a little longer while they swapped out the drawer. It was the final nail in the coffin for me. I will not go back to this location. I'll save my coupons and go to Joann's! They honor all of Hobby Lobby's coupons and they are open on Sundays! read more

My only beef would be the damm Christian music but I guess it's their store so whatever. I'm just not a religious person. I've bought things for personal use and work. I picked up a cute box that looked like a treasure chest and filled it with little toys for the kids in the weddings I work. I bought a bunch of frames that were clearanced out and finished up my gallery wall. And they have the closest color to rose gold spray paint I can find. Great place if you love to craft! read more

I've shopped at Hobby Lobby numerous times. They do have a vast selection of myriad items. I like Hobby Lobby for some things and other craft stores for other things. It seems I often need to get things on Sunday afternoons, but unfortunately, they aren't open on Sundays. As another reviewer stated, the return process is time consuming with an awful lot of hoops to jump through. But all things considered, I cannot with a clear conscience shop at a business that has a lawsuit to exempt their employee insurance from covering certain kinds of birth control. Whatever religious beliefs the organization may hold is their right, but to impose their religious beliefs on employees who do not share the same beliefs is unacceptable. The laws in this country are for everyone, not just Evangelical Christians. By forcing their religious ideologies on their employees, they're infringing on the employee's right to their own/different religious ideology. Simply stated, it's un-Constitutional. read more

I will think twice before ordering from Wal- Mart.com. Not only did I have to wait several weeks for a product that I need very much, but when it finally did come in, there was only 1 bottle instead of the 3- pack that I ordered. Because it was purchased online, I couldn't just keep the bottle, and be credited the remainder of the balance. They had to send it back. So, all of that waiting was all for nothing.
