The YMCA advertises they're handicap accessible yet the parking lot is in back. On weekends the back door is locked so you have to climb 100 stairs to get to the front door. It's incredibly difficult for people with limited mobility or wheelchairs to climb stairs. Kids are allowed to roam the building unsupervised for hours on end. During the summer months parents will drop off their kids for the day. A young man once followed me around making me incredibly uncomfortable. When I reported it to the front staff manager I was told "well this is a community center". I immediately cancelled my membership. It used to be open longer hours and the back door adjacent to the parking lot, was open during business hours. Limited operating hours, unwelcoming staff, and high prices make this place a no. When trying to find a place near Greenfield to join a gym we had little choices that seemed comfortable to us, so we decided to buy a membership to the YMCA. When we entered the building we were warmly greeted by the staff who quickly signed us up for a membership and provided us with all the programming they have at this location. We enjoyed the thoughts of playing volleyball as well as taking advantage of their work out equipment and open swim hours. In the end we are happy that we have a membership to this YMCA and we think that the staff here does a great job of supporting the members here in their journey to health and wellness. read more

The YMCA in Greenfield is great! The equipment is not brand new but is fully functional and the staff keeps it very well maintained. The pool and hot tub are clean and for a little more the steam room for the men and sauna for the woman are fantastic. The absolutely best thing is seeing all the smiles from the dozens of children in the rec. rooms or outside as you walk in the back door or see them from the window. Most of these kids would be out of luck if it was not for people supporting the Y with donations or memberships. The staff is caring and the classes are great! read more

The y in greenfield, MA, offers the most diverse high level programming. The staff bends over backwards to make your experience a positive one. staff are very skilled and sensitive to your individual needs. having a 10 person jacuzzi is a welcome plus. my only request is the latest approach be taught for babies and toddles learning to float and survive in water. Seems to be a west coast approach to water safety. Just started the 9 week weight loss program. hope it will be helpful. read more

I love the long hours that they're open for business. My favorite part is that there are several fitness rooms available for use by the members. My only recommendation is that they make the fit life room bigger. It would be great to have the machines spaced out a little more and add another of each machine so those of us who work out in teams can do so together. read more

I would give this Petri dish of an establishment a zero if I could. I am 90% sure I contracted this brutal winter illness here because I never see staff wipe down anything, and yes, I disinfect machines before and after, but it's no match for being in super cramped quarters of the weight and cardio room. Not to mention, the equipment is actually rusty. For as much as they charge, they could spare some money on upgrading and getting a staff member to clean the facilities. I've been to many gyms where staff is cleaning. Hell, even pf sends their folks out on the exercise floor to wipe everything down. I think they rely on a lack of gyms in the area, and this makes it ok to not properly maintain the facility. They should really do a better job. read more

I recently went to a birthday party at the YMCA, upstairs in the gym, I was very disgusted with the equipment they have, some of the equipment looks like it's been there for 50 years,!! This facility needs a serious cleaning. Glass in the gymnastics viewing area hasn't been cleaned in months. It's like a germ casserole. Their equipment is old and rundown and their staff could not be less enthusiastic with the kids. They better clean up their act since Planet Fitness has hit town. I was very excited to sign up for the YMCA in Greenfield however was very disappointed with the front desk service and lack of website details. I signed up for the silver monthly pass (which is $26) but was told that since I was only going to be here for 1 month that I have to do the 1 month trial. First of all, the 1 month trial is NOT ON THEIR WEBSITE. Secondly, a 1 month trial is $70. Luckily, I was still able to follow through with the silver pass, but was thoroughly disappointed that this 1 month trial was not displayed on their website and that it was $70. read more
