There were a couple tables open, and several customers walking in for to-go orders back to back. All the bagel sandwiches coming out from the kitchen looked amazing. I ordered an Asiago bagel with vegetable cream cheese. I asked for it toasted and it was lightly toasted and loaded with cream cheese. I haven't eaten a bagel like this in a while. The cashier was friendly and repeated our order back to us. It took about 15 mins for 3 bagel sandwiches and 1 toasted bagel to be ready. They have a wide selection of bottled drinks at the front and it appears you can get cold cuts from the deli area as well.

We waited for them to make it and then we weren't sure if we paid for it already or not, and the one guy said we hadn't but the one that rung us up had left. What really crossed the line, though, was when the clerk attempted to give me a used pizza pan that another customer had just returned to put my pizza on. Their strong suit was that everything for the sandwich contents was cut on demand, and thus as fresh as possible; and decent torpedo rolls (really the most important element of the creation) were pulled from a bag only as needed. My Honey Turkey and Swiss hoagie with shredded lettuce, mayo and hot/sweet peppers wasn't zoftig, but ample enough to warm and fill the belly of the beast. I enjoyed it. I have been on a deli kick of late, and FD was about as rewarding as the other local family run shops in the region. Good to help keep all of them in business by chosing mom & pop businesses open and thriving, rather than those factory like places that offer gasoline as a side dish.

All good but the actual standout here is the STEAK FRIES! They are fluffy on the inside and crisp on the outside. They're the best steak fries by far and possibly a top 3 restaurant fry of all time for me. Even by delivery they arrive crisp. I've since left that job near the diner but when I find myself in the area I can't help but stop in to get the fries. I was actually hesitant to do so at first - kinda like lifting the curtain back on Oz. But there's no trickery here - the waitstaff is friendly in person, the food is hot and fresh, and incredibly priced. This diner is such a gem and I am admittedly jealous of people who live nearby. My Sloppy Jersey Turk (Boar's Head Honey Turkey, Swiss Cheese, Cole Slaw, Russian Dressing on Toasted Rye) was very descriptively named. All quality ingredients, and tasty, yet very "sloppy" due to all the wetness of the slaw and Russian included in the sandwich. It was a slip-slid with every bite. Still, I appreciated the white sandwich wrapping paper that held it all together until I arrived home and was able to control its unwrapping and consumption. At ten minutes from home, Ewing Eats is close enough and good enough to be a solid alternative for our quick lunches or light meals. Those cheesesteaks and loaded fries looked pretty good, too.
