I have been coming to Cary Barbershop for about 6 months now. The mark of a great men's haircut for me is attention to detail and the mark of a great barber is consistency. Frankie and Cary Barbershop exemplifies this and more. When you walk into this tiny place, you are transported to the classic cool barber shop feel given Frankie's classic style and the vintage 2 chairs. I have not had the chance to get Tomas to give me a cut, but I consistently happy with the results from Frankie. I especially like that for my hair (black straight and wavy), most places need hair product to make it look nice, when i get a cut from Frankie, looks amazing without any product. You never feel rushed even if there are others waiting, when you are in the chair you are the focus and this is demonstrated in the attention to detail. Well, time has passed, and it's a... I don't know, Topher Grace? Maybe that's a bit too harsh. More like a Joshua Jackson. He gets the job done, and you know you've got some good feelings about him, but man, I was hoping for at least Josh Hartnett. Child-to-adult actors aside, it's a fine cut. I went in with a mop of hair and left with much less. It's all even, nothing was missed, and I know it's only compared to the length I arrived with that I feel like I left with it a little short. But you could chalk that up to me not effectively explaining what I wanted. Here's a fun fact about barbers: you're stuck sitting in that chair no matter where the conversation goes (you can't get up with one side done). And since you're there for a trim, the barber has no indication of whether you like sporting a tin foil cap. You might have colorful conversations here, is what I'm saying. But I'd rather have conversations than silence and stares. Only two chairs, but I called for an appointment and had no trouble getting one the same day. Not much for rustic barber decor, but that also means it's a lot cleaner looking than most barbers. Now, one key metric by which a barber is measured is the straight shave on the back of the neck. I got it, and it was good. But this was the first time I've ever had a straight razor taken to clean up the temples, moving what I'd probably give a solid three stars to up to at least a 3.5, and that being the case, rounding it up to a four. The price is right, it's close. I may be back, looking for an Elijah Wood or better.
