Started off completely wrong for me. Almost NO parking spots to be had. When I walked into the restaurant I found the place almost empty. We were seated fast but this place is in poor repair. The first two booths our host took us to had completely ripped seats. Our order took almost a full hour to get to our table. Food was average at best. Ordered build your own burger and fish and chips. The fish was cooked at too low a temp so I soaked up too much oil. The burger was nothing special. The Dunkel beer was the best thing I tried. Great brews, good wine, but the food was mixed. The salads and fries were great, the burgers were stone cold and all equally underdone with cold pink centers, no matter how they were ordered. Whitefish was reported to be good, but the chicken marsala was disappointing and soggy. Very very noisy, as expected from a building with high metal ceilings, so don't go there if you want to carry on a conversation. Wait staff was pleasant, and attentive at first, but seemed to lose interest in us after a while. Those of us in our group who were drinking beer did get one refill, but if you were drinking water or sodas you were pretty much out of luck. It was a Saturday night, and the place was very busy, so maybe they were just understaffed. Unfortunately, it only takes on bad experience to lose a repeat customer, and with so many restaurants out there to pick from I doubt we'll go back. read more

What a great place. Always loved their beer, it was a cool experience getting to come here. It was about the seventh brewery we hit on our trip and one of our favorites. Robb was just delightful. It had started to rain on the patio but when we decided to stay out their anyway Robb was super nice about it. Ended up getting some cool brewery shirts. Backdrop-slow night/only one-third of the establishment occupied and there was no wait time at 7:30PM. Spent over $40.00 for two people and twice they didn't have something in the kitchen to cover an order for my wife. I got a simple burger and it had come out burnt. As to not waste food I had showed our server how my charred bun crumbled but continued to finish what I could. Appetizer came out after the main course. Staff was made well aware and had still ended up paying the full amount. I never asked for a refund to our server but did comment that it was nowhere worth the visit for the price paid and had asked for the manager after getting our CC receipt. Manager Alex had only to say "it was too bad I wasn't made aware of it sooner as it is now too late to do anything" instead of taking on the responsibility of the situation I received several excuses. One thing positive I have to say is that our server was very polite and understanding. She had offered us a free appetizer on our next visit but I had handed it to the manager as we are from out of state and doubt we will revisit the brewery. Out of the years of coming to Frankenmuth I have only ever had two bad experiences. Both have been at the Frankenmuth Brewery. I rarely ever make a negative comment but I feel that today shouldn't be simply overlooked. I understand miscommunication in the kitchen, kitchen errors in general, but this was too much to ignore. It was not taken seriously enough. My mistake was being too polite and letting the situation go but that does the business no good if the problems are not addressed. Great experience at the brewery! Told a 45 minute wait for a table so decided to sit at the bar. Three bartenders tending to us and enjoyed talking with all of them. Got the pretzel for an appetizer. Probably the best pretzel I have ever had. We got the smoke chicken meal and the classic mac and cheese. Everything was fabulous! Our table became available about 15 minutes after arriving but we stayed seated at the bar. Definitely would come back here! read more

Well first this place has an amazing atmosphere. The problem with both times I have been here they are lacking in staff which makes the wait for anything extremely long. The beers however are pretty good. I am a huge fan of The Heff. Also the buffalo chicken rolls are one the best things ever. Missed opportunity. Good: Real brewery, good prices on beer, service Party of 9. 40 min wait (expected on a Saturday.) Service. Guy had great attitude, kitchen couldn't back it up. IPA was very good Bad: Food was OK. Huge missed opportunity. I would expect better than bar-food quality. Nachos- large but topping only on top. After sampling the beer, and grabbing some of their buffalo chicken rolls (which are f*cking incredible) I realized that people are oblivious. The food was awesome, the beer is delicious (the IPAs were the tits), and our server was very helpful. Do not listen to the bad reviews. This place is great. My mom and I came to Frankenmuth for a girls' night out. The brewery was our first stop, which was walking distance from our hotel. I'm not a huge fan of their bottled beer. I don't think I've bought any since I first tried it. It was ok, but nothing to rave about. I had a much better experience at the brewery. It's a really good sized brewery. They have an outdoor area that is probably awesome in the summer. I think they even had a wedding there on the 2nd floor? I really enjoyed the beers that I tried. It exceeded my expectations. I had a belgian IPA, and Ted Nugget IPA. I'm sure I had another. They were all great. I wanted to try more, but we had to move on to the next bar. If I had a cooler for a growler, I would've brought some home. Can't wait to go back with the husband! : ) read more

I've always wanted to check out the town of Frankenmuth, if only for the sheer Christmas novelty of it all. And to make the trip even better - a brewery! We checked out the Frankenmuth Brewery on a hot, hazy Saturday afternoon. We were only after some refreshing brews so we grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered the 20 oz. pint of the Hefeweizen Ale and the Batch 69 IPA ($5.50 each). The hefeweizen was light and refreshing. I'm not a big IPA fan but the Batch 69 was pretty decent tasting despite the 6.9% ABV. Service at the bar was adequate, nothing out of the norm. Loved the interior of the dining area, would have even loved to have a table out on the balcony overlooking the river. There is a store attached that sold growlers and the beers to go but we prefer to try them on draft. Will stop in again if we're ever in the area or if I feel the need to satisfy my Germany Christmasy urges. read more

The food is not prepared by a chef just a line cook from a fast food place. If there is a chef you should be ashamed to put out that kind of food. Ate there ordered hamburgers-omg dry, bun was hard-complained and the manager never came over to the table. Unreal. Spend your money in the many other eateries in this town. Don't waste it here. As far as any kind of a modern atmosphere goes, the Brewery by FAR has the nicest restaurant in Frankenmuth. It's huge, the outdoor patio is really nice...and they have a few booths which is like gold around here. The beers are wildly popular (the Ops Manager told us last night they are selling out in the neighboring 4 states), however I'm not much of a beer drinker. I'll tell you we HAD written the place off because of the wacky liquor licensing going on in there...you couldn't get anything but beer upstairs for the longest time (they didn't have wine & liquor could only be served downstairs), however NOW you can at least get wine upstairs, so if you'd like to class up your Chili-in-a-Bread Bowl you're in luck. You still aren't going to get a mixed drink at the bar upstairs, or the restaurant. That's downstairs...which I guess is like a totally separate restaurant...? I don't know but they can't serve liquor in the upstairs part. Anyway, because of that and the average-ish food (frozen: re-heated just for you), we'd stopped going...but for lack of anywhere else to go around here (literally), we've learned what's good on the menu, and have gone quite a few times for a drink & an appetizer. Suggestions? The Portabello Mushroom fries (get ranch unless you want to dip them in jelly-they call it a "reduction", but...it's jelly), The buffalo chicken rolls, the super chicken nachos, and the pretzel bread. I've heard they also make good pizza although I haven't tried it. If you're in Frankenmuth, and you don't want chicken...or you just want to have a beer and watch "the game"...The Brewery is going to be your best bet. read more

Was up for an overnight visit and ate there 4/29/13 and noticed that on Monday's it is 1/2 off burgers if you have their club card, which is what made us check the place out. Interior was nice, clean and had that brewery smell which I personally love. Downfall they do not have very many booths as I hate sitting in Tables. Our waiter Andrew was nice enough and it was no issue signing up for the card so we could get the discount. I only gave it 2 starts because the burger I ordered mine Med Rare and my husband ordered his Med and ours both came out well done and I do NOT like well done meat (we did not complain, we were in a rush and just dealt with it.) I had the mushroom swssl burger and my husband had the blue cheese burger....he loves blue cheese but he even complained that there was so much blue cheese it was very overpowering and on a dry well done burger he was not that happy with it. My son had the kids meal and he liked it... Another reason for the 2 stars - we were drinking water and our waiter never came back to check on us and our waters sat empty through the majority of the meal and we watched another waiter walk right past our table with a water pitcher and just watered his tables in his section, not even bothering to help a table that was NOT his out (I used to serve so those little things mean a ton to a guest.) My husband finally had to go to the bartender just to get the waters filled. Food was not that great and servers could of been more attentive, we may go back for a half off burger on a Monday if we are driving past that way, but I dont think I can justify spending anything more on that food. Definitely "meh" as far as food goes, yet I keep returning. I've been here 3 times now, with this past weekend marking my 3rd visit. A friend lives close by Frankenmuth Brewery, so it's an easy place to meet up and catch up over a few beers when I'm over that way. My orders have consisted of the Philly Steak sandwich, Reuben, and Meatloaf sandwich. All were good, but nothing memorable. Filling, but not a lot of taste, I guess. The party I was with this weekend left full, but no one was super impressed with the food. I guess the beer helps to keep you coming back. The one food that I will rave about is the pretzel breadsticks that come out before your meal. Those are worth fighting for. Beer is good. I stick with the pansy Cass River Blonde Ale and Hefeweizen, but I've tried everything they have via their samplers. read more

Beer -Not so great, then again I have the capability of drinking Great Lakes Brewery beer in Cleveland so maybe that biased MY opinion a little. The red was the best tasting out of the 5 people that were drinking the afternoon we stopped in. We tried the sampler. Food - We only got the nachos and guacamole bruchetta. I am here to tell you now, do not get this dish. Nachos were ok, overloaded with jalepenos but the avocados were not even ripe. There was also a really odd taste to the pile of guac. in the middle of the plate. If your thinking it was the cilantro, think again. I love cilantro and this dish actually could have used some. The service was ok. Not very busy for a weekend afternoon. We really only went in to rest our feet and have a drink, the food was merely an afterthought. After many years visiting the town of Frankenmuth, finally decided to visit this brewery/restaurant. Let's begin the review with parking. The location has a VERY small lot in front. If you're lucky a spot might be open, otherwise plan on parking across the street behind the hotel and walking...not unusual for this town. They have a variety of seating areas. We sat in the bar booths. Appears they have a nice elevated patio open in summer next to river, already closed for season when we visited. They have a few seats along Windows by the river too, but they appear to fill fast. Our server was prompt and courteous. Delivered drink selections within about 3-4 min. I tried the Christmas Town ale on draft. It was a nice Amber color with a crisp finish, and I detected a hint of spice (maybe cinnamon?) We asked about the menu and she offered popular choices and her favorites. We tried the buffalo chicken rolls as an appetizer. These are very tasty and were perfectly cooked. They are served with a blue cheese vinaigrette and a ranch dressing. Both were good with the rolls I chose the Michigan bean and ham soup. It arrived barely at room temp. First thing I noticed was very salty too. We flagged down our server and she took care of it immediately with a fresh, piping hot cup. This time the flavor was much better. Beer cheddar soup also was room temp when it arrived, so this was also exchanged for a hot cup. It was enjoyable and comes with crunch pretzel like croutons. French onion soup was room temp also so we asked to exchange it. The new order was hot, chock full of flavor. Sorry to say we did not try anything else...full from these few items. I can tell they are still getting into the swing of just opening, so I plan to come back next time. The two beers we tried weren't anything great, but I would be open to try more in the future. The service was okay. I was disappointed that they didn't retain or recreate any historical brewery items to display. We saw more information and cool artifacts related to this brewery at the local historical society than at the brewery itself. A town that is so themed in tradition made this restaurant appear baren and bland. Atmosphere is so much of my experience at a bar or brewery because it isn't all about the food or beer. It's also about where you consume it. I may as well have grabbed some Bell's from the drug store and drank it in an empty warehouse. I look forward to seeing what they come up with. read more

My wife and I visited on a Tuesday and took advantage of their incredible BOGOF pizza pie deals. While my wife's pizza was above average and we did wait for a waitress for close to 5 minutes after being seated (like other have reported on Yelp), I'm giving this place 5 stars based on my pizza. I ordered their ricotta, meatball and red onion. Someone had recommended their 4 cheese pizza because of how great the ricotta tastes. I didn't want that volume of cheese so basically ordered a 'lasagna ingredient' type of pie. It's was outrageously good. I could barely keep from exclaiming on each and every bite. I know it can be difficult to rate a restaurant based on one meal but when that meal is really special - it deserves to be Yelped about it for others to visit regardless of other menu items. I hate to only give two stars...but it is probably because I didn't have a beer. The place is ultra cool looking. The wait staff was pretty nice and we arrived with the kitchen closing in two minutes. We were going to leave, but she assured us it wasn't a problem. I ordered chicken marsala. The portion was huge, two breaded breasts with melted motza cheese topped with the super dark brown sauce...and I can't be sure, but was there tomato something sauce under the cheese? The mashed potatoes were so overpowered with "I don't kno what" and I couldn't eat them at all. My husband had the bratwurst sandwich...which seemed small for dinner, and maybe the small pile of fries was due to our late arrival? My meal left me with a kind of heavy feeling, the flavor was ok, but nothing I would return for. I did take my leftovers with me, but ended up not wanting to really finish them. perhaps it just depends on what you order, but for such a cool looking place with obvious potential...the food is a let-down. read more

All I can say is the biggest reason for this review was because of our server, Walter. He was just incredible. My boyfriend and I are visiting Michigan from San Diego, CA and because of my Bavarian roots (and our love of beer) we decided to stop by Frankenmuth. The moment we walked in to this EXTREMELY busy restaurant we figured it would be slow service, etc because of how many bodies were packed in. We were completely wrong when we lucked out with Walter. He was the best server we've had on this trip. Super friendly, efficient and forward thinking, we completely forgot about how crowded it was in this brewery. Our wait time was that of a restaurant that had only one or two tables being served. As for the food, the LOBSTER DIP is your new best friend. Omg. We had a couple flights plus a couple of the quad Belgians so that pretty much served as our main course. Ordered the bratwurst plate just to try it out and it did not disappoint. Our waitress was personable but after bringing our beers she took about 15 minutes to return to take our meal order. In that time she was able to take two other tables' drink and meal orders. The food was okay here, other than the fact that my moms margarita pizza had no basil and my BLT-A was missing the avocado. My mom was informed they were out of basil before our meals came out however I was never told they were out of avocado. Our server was really nice and brought everything to us quickly. What kind of review rates a brewery without talking about the beer? This one, LOL I don't drink beer. I eat burgers and that's what we're gonna talk about. Slight wait to get a table but it was expected as it was mid afternoon. The waiter was unbelievably good (I wish I could remember his name) He sure remembered ours when he came back to the table several times to check on us. As for the burgers they was fantastic. A wonderful venue for my wedding reception. They have a whole lower level for private events with a new expansion. It fit our party of 175 comfortably. We had a DJ and later a band set up and it sounded great. The food was phenomenal. The catering menu is a little different than the main menu. We had prime rib, chicken Parmesan, their famous Mac and cheese, seasonal vegetables, Caesar salad, michigan cherry salad, and of course their pretzel rolls. They had 8 micro brews on tap at our own bar! They also offer open premium liquor that they can't offer in the restaurant. Dezarae, their new event manager, did a great job. Went to the Frankenmuth Brewery tonight with a friend. Ordered the Michigan Cherry Salad which clearly states "candied walnuts". They weren't-they were regular walnuts. My friend said something to the waitress about them- she didn't have a clue what we were talking about. The building and atmosphere at the Frankenmuth Brewery make it a good place to enjoy a craft beer. My favorite is the Red! I was expecting a little more from the brewery than what was offered in bottles to every other bar and liquor store in Metro Detroit. The seasonal special beer was still the Oktoberfest. Hello, it's March. The food was overpriced; not unexpected in a tourist town. I had the $11 Michigan salad. The fresh greens on top hid the iceberg lettuce on the bottom. My waitress was kind, but a little off. Judging by her still wearing last night's makeup, she was nursing a hangover. It was funny to watch her tell every table about the ABV of their seasonal brews to people who were over shopped and underfed. They obviously had no clue what she was talking about and didn't care. The best part was the great special on to-go cases of beer. $19.99 for 24 beers! I picked one up on the way out. What a deal. read more

I can give you the synopsis of this place. Good beer and fine idea to have the samplers of the beer! you cant really go wrong with any of the brews, I suggest the English IPA, I really liked it. However, the food does not really get a great wrap. You can see the other reviews for justification. My girlfriend got the lobster bisque and was disappointed. I was happy with my burger, but depressed I lost a "few good fries" because I shared them with my hungry significant other. All in all... Go to drink... Sit outside if you can along the river. The views are great. The service here is super friendly. The beers are yummy too I had a maple brown ale, super sweet and rich. The food was just ok, basic bar food but its hot and comes in a big portion size. I got the Michigan salad it was ok would have been better if they did not use ice berge lettuce.
