The entire staff is so welcoming and friendly. They are very organized and very communicative front the time you sign up for camp, up until camp, and all the way to check out day. They have a wide variety of things for the kids to do while in camp, always keeping them busy and always making sure they have fun. They take pictures during camp and offer s website for parents to view them daily. They make sure your child is comfortable every year. They are very accommodating. The property is beautiful and well maintained. There aren't any huge potholes in the drive areas and the grass is always green and mowed. The buildings and cabins are also well maintained and clearly marked so you know where you're staying and going. The camp counselors are educated and know how to act appropriately and set an example for the kids. They have a couple years of training before they are actual counselors. I never felt insecure leaving my child for camp. I have taken retreats here and the instructors are on spot and on time. They know what they are teaching and very courteous. I love taking retreats here. I have also had the food here. It's high quality and no skimping. My child loves eating the "camp food". The retreat food is also very delicious. They have a cook and full kitchen staff to prepare the meals and they aren't just peanut butter and jelly sandwich meals. One time we had fried chicken and it was one of the best fried chickens I've eaten. I recommend coming here any time. It's a wonderful experience.

While the weather was not especially co-operative, we felt this still could have been an excellent weekend were it not for the complete lack of direction from the staff. The posted schedule was often wrong, or staff simply decided not to do certain activities without giving any forewarning. At one point in time I was waiting quite a while to do one activity that only two people were working, and I ventured to check on my daughter who watching a movie and discovered that 4 of the counselors were "helping" a group of about 10 kids and parents watch a movie. I felt that three of those staff members could probably have been working on making sure the other people at camp weren't standing around for an hour waiting to do one activity. Also, it would have been immensely helpful if the staff had started the weekend with a tour of the grounds. I had never been to this camp, and it would have been nice to have known were to go so I didn't end up walking all over the camp only to find out when I got to the horse arena, that horseback riding had been canceled that morning and the next session was actually just going to be a "pony" ride in a coral. I did give it two stars, because I could see the potential of this being a really great experience. I also did get to climb a rock wall, do a high ropes activity and canoe a bit, also my children had a wonderful time just playing with all of the other kids there. So it was not a wasted weekend, although if the program director is still there next year, I won't be.

Nice older equipment down in the dungeon and some newer. They got it all here. Upstairs is a nice room for the runners and elliptical enthusiast who like a nice treadmill or an elliptical machine. Nice little weight room off to the side of the runners area. Nice for older folks who like machine weights or those with skinnier arms or just not as strong. Parking isn't bad either across the street, you can watch your car while running the treadmill and listening to your earpods. I like to pop in my earbuds or iPods that is and off to runners land. Very nice gym, some dues to pay each month unless you get it free through work or being broke... I just like to go! bring your pre workout powder drink mix and some creatine and you're in business big guy. Make sure to chase down a good Protein drink after an intense lifting season along with some Glutamine or something.

Bryce is freaking awesome and makes sure you have a great time. We had the whole trail to ourselves for horseback riding (Peaches is absolutely the best horse in the world, I already miss her so much). When you think of Indiana, you think "flat, boring", but this property had cliffs and mountains and rivers and creeks all over it. Simply gorgeous. Afterwards, Bryce broke out the machines guns and silencers and we shot M16, MP5, Uzis and a Glock 18 along with our own guns. We had the entire range to ourselves and went through thousands of rounds in just a few hours. My personal favorite was the Uzi, but that Glock 18 is beyond ridiculous. An entire 35 rounds gone in less than two seconds. Literally. When you pull the trigger, it just sprays a stream of brass out the side. We got to chill and eat a delicious dinner, then came back to set up camp (again, we had the whole property to ourselves) and Bryce brought us a bunch of wood pallets to make a roaring bonfire. Much alcohol was consumed and hijinks had. This might be one of the best weekends of our lives, no kidding. Certainly the best bachelor party spot in the Midwest, hands down. Even if you're not into machine guns (which means you're crazy) you should still check this place out. It's so beautiful and it's so fun to get to take advantage of having all these goats, horses, chickens, etc. around... but someone else has to take care of them. Thanks, Bryce! We will for sure be back soon!!

From the get go things seemed fine, the Director was communicative and the virtual tour was fine. However, day one was horrendous. The center is not new which is fine, the workers are varying levels of engaged. Cleanliness is questionable... Concerns noted for some cooking equipment that was being blocked by a cart, chemicals in reach of kids, but then watching the cameras: the way they workers are swapped out and inconsistent treatment of children. My maternal senses knew something was off by the way my children were acting. Husband picked up our little guy who was off camera in a bathroom with a staff member. Son was screaming in pain. Came home to find markings on his back. Daughter had witnessed mistreatment (also advocated for her own mistreatment!) Case filed, did not return. Be aware.

As a former minister associated with Church of the Brethren, I've long had an appreciation for…read moreMilford, Indiana's Camp Alexander Mack, a 200+ acre facility located on the shores of Lake Waubee in Northern, Indiana in the tiny "blink and you'll miss it" town of Milford. Started in 1925, Camp Alexander Mack is named after the man attributed as the founder of Church of the Brethren. Church of the Brethren is one of the historic peace churches - think Quakers and Mennonites. Camp Mack is a ministry of the Indiana Camp Board and the two Indiana districts of Church of the Brethren, though it is a public camp utilized frequently by a wide variety of denominations. Camp Mack serves children, youth, and adults and has both day overnight programming available. Each lodge offers group meeting rooms. In Church of the Brethren tradition, there's a simple but beautiful chapel overlooking Lake Waubee that can seat 75+. There's an auditorium that can accommodate 1500, while there's also outdoor settings perfect for lake baptisms and outdoor worship offerings. While simplicity is largely the rule here, audio-visual and supplies are available as "roughing it" here still does mean a certain degree of comfort is offered. Kate Warstler Dining Center serves meals buffet style; the dining center overlooks the lake and the center of the camp. There's also a deck that can accommodate 300. The dining center can also accommodate special events with advanced planning. Activities include hiking trails sailing, canoeing, kayaking, rowboating, swimming, fishing, sand-court volleyball, basketball, softball ,soccer, Low Ropes Course/ Challenge Course, four-square courts, Gaga Ball, 9 Square in the Air, ping pong, croquet, horseshoes, campfires, climbing tower and zipline, and flying squirrel. The camp is in the midst of a rather nice campaign that will expand offerings and improve facilities. They also do host many weddings. There's some boating options, though a lifeguard needs to be on duty. Christian attendees often love "The Living Cross," a White Oak tree that has grown into the shape of a cross. The camp is operated by a paid staff along with many camp volunteers and counselors. Camp Mack is accredited by the American Camp Association, a member of the Christian Camp and Conference Association, and a member of the Outdoor Ministries Association of the Church of the Brethren. The camp does not allow pets, a slight bummer, but does obviously allow for service animals. You can bring your own linens or rent them for a fee from the camp. Additionally, the camp offers a small gift shop inside the John Kline Welcome Center. As someone with a disability, I often avoid camping because of the hassles with accessibility and self-care. While Camp Mack is no Bradford Woods, the latter pretty much being the king of accessible camping in Indiana, generally they do offer accessible options for both day and overnight campers. This is likely a camp I'd avoid if I had extensive needs physically, but for moderate accessibility needs they do well and staff persons are always friendly and helpful as able. I'm a wheelchair user and was able to stay for a weekend, though it was beneficial to make advance notification of my need for an accessible accommodation and it definitely was "roughing it" a bit more than I do in daily life. While accessibility issues could easily cause me to drop a star here, generally speaking I think there's a solid effort here to be open to all. The enthusiasm of the staff is top-notch and I'm keeping this as a 5-star spot and genuine hidden gem in Indiana. A friend of mine is currently working on a project that will also provide additional sparkle for the camp. If you're looking for a day getaway in Indiana, especially with a spiritual focus, Camp Mack is a great option. Camp Mack is also a great option for those seeking family-centered retreat options of themed retreats. Much like Church of the Brethren, it's simple yet remarkably hospitable.
