The Historic Sunken Gardens in Huntington, Indiana started out as a stone quarry before being…read moreabandoned and becoming an eyesore. Acquired by the city in 1924, it was acquired by the Chamber of Commerce and beautification began with a dedication back to the city in 1929. The Sunken Gardens are located at Memorial Park - it's a short drive from downtown Huntington. While the most scenic route involves stairs, you can access the park if you're like me and have mobility issues. There's parking across the street and a short tunnel that allows access. The Sunken Gardens are often rented for weddings. It's incredibly beautiful and you can even arrange, for a small fee, to enter from the nearby Lions Club. This is a public park and you can picnic here with additional features including a fairly new Veteran's Memorial, a children's playground, frisbee golf, basketball, tennis courts, a picnic pavilion, and walking trails around a large pond (the pond used to be a fish hatchery). There's a ton of greenery. Because this used to be a quarry, it should be expected that there are inclines and declines. While there are plenty of pathways and concrete, for those with limited strength or mobility issues you should probably take note and possibly have someone with you. There's also a great pagoda that is actually accessible. This is a wonderful feature for Huntington, though it's not one I'd call a destination park or spot. It's something to visit if you're in the Huntington area either over at the Quayle Center or visiting the nearby Nick's Kitchen (or even visiting Huntington University). You can also visit the nearby Historic Forks of the Wabash, another spot that is fun to visit but not necessarily worthy of day trip status. All these things together, however, make for a decent day in Huntington, Indiana.

Promenade Park opened in 2019 as the first phase in Fort Wayne's Riverfront Fort Wayne project. Main features include Canoeing and Kayaking, a very cool fountain, games, a pavilion, picnic tables, an amazing playground, a snack bar, a stage, trails and, of course, water. The park is relatively small at 4 acres, but they really have laid it out beautifully and they have quite a bit here. Promenade Park is a KultureCity.org Sensory InclusiveTM Certified Venue. Accessibility features include accessibility to the trails, kayak/canoe launch, main entrance, picnic areas, playground (ground level play features), an accessible restroom, accessible signage, accessible swings, accessible water fountains/bottle fillers, and more. Accessible parking is available along Wells Street (adjacent to the pavilion). The garden area is designed specifically to provide visual and sensory separation. There's tactile ribbon embedded in the pavement throughout the park (this helps people who are blind/low-vision). Pathways are extra wide and can accommodate multiple wheelchairs. Honestly, I was blown away here and so thrilled I took the time to stop and check this out. I'm likely planning an event in Fort Wayne soon, and there's no question I'll be returning to this beautiful urban park.

It is like a rose lesson learning about the varieties of flowers! The pictures I attached are all from July. The flowers are beautiful most of the year though. There are multiple pavilions to house events. I frequently see weddings and quinceaneras at the grand terrace. People are always around taking pictures for various occasions. It is definitely a perfect spot for pictures!! My favorite thing to do is just walk along the paths throughout the park and look at flowers. Of course, there are also multiple benches (for people watching!). The park also has a basketball court, a playground, and lots of open green space to run around!

There's something special about this place. Lindenwood is a little oasis from the city and feels…read morelike a sweet escape. It's a great place to bring family and kids. Unfortunately dogs are NOT allowed because they want to preserve the nature and wildlife. Plenty of parking spots. Trails are clear and easy to walk along. This is more of a walk than a hike. Trails can get muddy so recommend wearing boots. If you get muddy, there's a boot brush out in front where you can scrub your shoes. Don't forget to pack it in and pack it out! Even with all those negative things Lindenwood still looked pretty and I enjoyed the hike. I was very Underwhelmed by the pond. I expected the pond to be much prettier, bigger and nicer looking but unfortunately it was tiny and very dirty. At least there were visible tadpoles there which was exciting to see. I cannot wait to return to this place again once everything is fully regrown.

Very cool sight. There were a lot of great trails including a mile long one around the buffalo area, as well as a fully paved bike trail that goes through the woods. It was a lovely ride. The bathrooms left something to be desired as usually 2/3 toilets were clogged and the hardware in general could use some renovation. There are private showers in the back restrooms which were a nice change but having to continuously hit the water button (and it pauses every time you hit it) was a different, not so pleasant experience. Overall, this was a decent campground, fairly busy. A lot of the large buildings were closed or intended for renting out. There was no nature center. There is a lake which offer paddle and other boats for rent. There is also parking for horse & buggies away from the RV sites. Outside of the horse & buggy and a summer camp area, we never found the primitive camp sites but we didn't exactly go looking for them either.

As far as the greens go, they were far better than what some of the photos show from other reviews. The course is flat, looking around I didn't see any of the bad conditions others have noted months, even years earlier. I've played a lot of muni's in my day and some looked like the greens are only nourished by spilled pop, but that isn't the case here. Only part of one green had issues (which can happen at any course), but the green was large enough to just have the cup/ pin in the nice part of the green. Didn't affect play at all. Had heard that they have been working on course conditions and by what I saw and played on, that is certainly true. Would I come here to play again? Absolutely.
