Last night was my first and last visit with Dr Frank Segreto. I arrived on time for my 6PM appointment. I signed in and was greeted by a very friendly front desk. I gave them a copy of my MRI report along with a disc of the film itself. I waited an hour, I never mind the wait provided I'm given the same courtesy in the exam room (not expecting an hour of course).
I was brought into an exam room, met with another friendly staff nurse who asked some medical questions while I waited another 10-15 minutes for a man to walk in.
There was no greeting, he mumbled (barely audible) his name so I was to assume he was Dr Segreto. His first words were "so what are you here for"...I answered by saying I brought a copy of my MRI. This appeared to be a surprise to him. He then asked what happened to lead to the pain in my back and I proceeded to tell him that my dog having a freakish accident, became paralyzed from the neck down and for 7 days I had to carry her around. Being an animal lover and in the Veterinary field for 20 years, I am used to being around fellow animal lovers, perhaps I thought he would be interested. It was obvious he was quite bored and didn't really want to hear the story, nor ask how my pet was doing after her accident. He took the clip board, pretending to read it when his assistant, not the Doctor pointed out to him the MRI stated among other problems a fractured sacrum. His assistant not the Doctor once again asked if I had a bone density test recently. The Doctor asked me to bend forward, then backward, asked which was more painful. I truly cannot remember him saying another word, he walked out then back into exam room and said they would fit me for a back brace and physical therapy. He left the exam room and Mike came in to fit me for the brace. I could not say enough kind words about how friendly and compassionate Mike and the front desk staff were. Dr Segreto never walked backed into the exam room to explain our course of action or to discuss how long we should wait to see if the fracture healed.
If he spent more than 5-6 minutes in total speaking with me or being in the room with me, I would be exaggerating. When I went back up to the front desk to pay the co-pay, I was asked if I needed to make a follow up appointment with the Doctor and told her I will never see this Doctor again. Sadly she apologized profusely for him .I assured her it was not her fault and she needn't apologize for a man who has lost his compassion for his patients and has forgotten the oath he took when he became a Doctor.
I guess because I was not a candidate for him to perform surgery, apparently I was just a waste of his precious time. The first red flag should have been that I was able to make an appointment with him within 2 days, while other Ortho Doctors had at least a 2 week wait. That speaks for itself. He has been in practice too long, has become jaded, lost his empathy for his patients and his inflated ego will not allow him to see this. I hope this review will help others to think twice. If we ever treated our patients ( furry ones) the abrupt way I was treated, their owners (clients) would be asking for their records and we would lose a tremendous amount of business. Im saddened by how patients are sometimes treated in human medicine and Dr Segreto is a perfect example. read more
