My favorite doctor! He's a gem as a professional and as a person. He's doesn't talk at you, speaks with you. He listens to what you're saying. That quality, sadly, isn't easy to come by lately. Best about Dr King is that he's a great educator to his patients and genuinely cares. Couldn't recommend anyone more! read more

Dr. King is a compassionate Dr who cares about your pain and seeks to find the best solution to pain management. He listens to your concerns and does not rush you through your apt. Dr. King has been my pain Dr for 15 years and I highly recommend him. read more

Dr. King is GREAT! His staff, not so. They want you to make an appointment every month in order to get a refill of your meds. I totally understand that. The problem is if you leave a voicemail requesting an appointment, the call is rarely returned. I requested an appt for a procedure and my call was NEVER returned. Pain is hard enough to deal with but having to chase down someone in this office who actually cares, good luck. read more

i give dr. king high marks for his pain relief treatments. however, phone calls to the office are never answered and messages left are not returned. and, pharmacy requests for prescription drug refills go unanswered as well. sooooo frustrating!!!!! dlr read more

I am in heaven. I had an ablation on my spine and after three years of excruciating pain, that rendered me completely disabled, I am pain free. I think this man is terrific. Sorry I can't say the same about his clerical staff. They are friendly enough but don't know what they are doing. Three phone calls about the same appointment and received different, contradicting info information on each one. The scheduler is asleep ay the switch.. the doctor and I gave her the explicit instruction on how to schedule the ablation and she is it wrong. I had waited a month for this appointment and she said the surgery center was cooperating. She then put me on hold and came back with an appointment 8 days away. It wasn't the surgery center, it was her. But Dr King is wonderful. I will continue with him. read more

I like Dr. king but his office staff is horrible. I'm an existing patient and had a consultation for another injection a month ago. I have called and left messages at least five times. They very rarely answer the phone and have returned a voicemail maybe once. I have brought this to the doctor's attention in the past. I think an abysmal staff reflects negatively on the doctor. I will be going elsewhere. read more

Excellent and attentive, personable care. Dr. King is terrific, he and his team are responsive, and he LISTENS. I highly recommend him for those who suffer from chronic pain. read more

I have been working with Dr King for almost two years now as he was referred to me by my spinal surgeon. Having had two back operations I'm now at the point (after multiple outside opinions) where any further operations would be too risky, thus, Dr King has been my last resort and I can't thank him (and his staff) enough for the outstanding care they've given me. My 24/7 pain has been relatively controlled with Dr King showing a very high degree of compassion and understanding, along with several skilled procedures in seeking to make my life more comfortable. Instead of getting worse, he's made my daily life far better than I once thought possible. Btw, in no way was this review solicited. I'm just giving credit where credit is due. My sincere gratitude, Dr King - read more

Turns out I was right about my leg pains. He gave up on me and left me worse off then when I first came to see him. I have neuropathy coming from the nerves surrounding all the small vessels in my legs and feet. When increased pressure exerts the tiniest bit of force, these damaged nerves explode with pain. I have been getting the best pain management care ever since I started needing it over 3 years ago, from UCI Pain Management in Irvine. They switched my pain med and started me on a better nerve pain drug. I would have never received either of these from Dr King because he did not believe in one and never mentioned the other. Now I am on a lower amount of medicine and feeling better. Most of all I have had fast and effective care offered by "several" different docs at UCI. I feel at ease knowing that they understand complicated health issues and do NOT give up on you. I am truly blessed to have found them. read more

Horrible office. First off took a month to get an appointment and then get phone calls and texts confirming the time of the appointment but yet when you show up (even 20 minutes early) you're still in the waiting room an hour and a half later. When you ask the staff about why they text you with an appointment time they say oh well we allow for 30 minutes to fill out the paperwork. Which supposedly was already emailed to me so if that's the case why are you allowing for another 30 minutes for me to fill out the paperwork which by the way as a normal patient I allotted for that necessary time as well and showed up early. I realize that this building is old however invest in a broom and maybe sweep your flooring definitely not a clean location. And that was just their front lobby area I would hate to see what the back area looks like. I finally walked out without ever being seen and in more pain then what I walked in with from having to sit so long. Thanks for nothing. Definitely do not recommend this place to anyone. I just read all the other reviews and even the good ones say that this office is always behind schedule so if that's the case quit booking so many appointments or hire another doctor. There is no reason that you should have so much disrespect for people's time. read more

Dr. king was able to see in short notice. I have been doctor shopping for a doctor that could figure out my problems I'm having. The last 6-7 doctors that just wanted to stick me with needle after needle..,,,... So let me back up 2+ years.. I had pain in my hip and back that made me completely disabled..... pain = 10 out of 10 for the last 24 months.. I could barley get out of bed and walk to the next room, and that was a full time chore...UNDERSTATEMENT ! This is hard to believe but by the second appointment he reccomended just one more injection.. as desperate as I was, I agreed.. 24 HOURS LATER, I am PAIN FREE..... UNBELIEVABLE. again, understatement.. the only pain I feel now is the mussels that have been worked over from protecting my injuries are a little sore and I just need to get use to the lack of any pain fron my nerve problem. THIS DOCTOR IS ALL THAT AND MORE. Give this doctor everything he asks, and you to could enjoy your life again ,, UNBELIEVABLE.. Dr. King , I am forever in debt to your staff you are by far one of the BEST of THE BEST Doctors I have ever met.. THANK YOU, A MILLION TIMES, THANK YOU !!!! R. KALB read more

I became a new patient to Dr. King since early spring of 2020. Upon meeting Dr. King at my initial visit, both Dr. King, Claire PA-C, and his team have been extremely compassionate. I still continue to receive superb medical treatment and ample time with Dr. King, his medical care, bedside manner, and genuine compassion in regards to my quality of my life have remained beyond expectations. I am currently under the medical care of multiple specialty physicians, and Dr. King and his team have been amazing. Dr. King, Claire, Daisy, Elaine, Molly, Heather, and the remainder of his team have been extremely helpful, heartfelt and compassionate, while also exhibiting extreme professionalism and outstanding bedside manner. Dr. King has never given up on me and treating my health conditions, and always follows through with my medical care. Dr. King and Claire have spent extensive time with me listening to my concerns and addressing all my questions, while always making ample time with me despite their busy schedules. This truly has meant a lot to both my husband and I as Dr. King has never given up on helping me despite ongoing health conditions and continues to help improve my quality of life. Dr. King and his team have been a rarity in the medical field as they genuinely care for her patients; this is demonstrated in their quality care and time given to their patients. I will forever be grateful for having such an excellent physician that truly cares for his patients. Thank you, Dr. King, Claire, and team! read more

I just went to my 3 pm appointment and the two ladies in the front refused to take me. I arrived 30 minutes early to complete paperwork and they refused to take me because I didn't have paperwork already completed. In the email they sent me I was only given a map and a cover letter which contained another patients name (not even my name or information) and somehow I was expected to have paperwork done that I was never given. This is the most unprofessional doctors office I have ever gone to. I would give it 0 stars if I could. I honestly cannot believe how poorly I was treated and the way they spoke to me was incredibly rude, telling me it's my fault because they sent me an email without the proper attachments. I left in anger after how poorly I was treated and being talked down to for absolutely no reason. Don't bother going here unless you want to be treated like garbage. read more

Please don't go to Dr. Frank King. I was referred to him by another dr. I have had 5 surgeries on knee, 2 being total knee replacement. The doctors have no idea what is wrong. So I went to see Dr. King for a knee ablation because pain is so bad that I have considered taking my life and I had told him that. So he scheduled a surgery for me except no one called the insurance company and no one from the surgery center have called. Then he rescheduled it again 2 more time and same thing. I called the office no joke 200+ times and no one would answer the phone. I called the scheduler and left a ton of message and no one would call back. All of the message boxes were full and you couldn't leave a message. I had to drive to the office because I was desperate for help even being in unbelievable pain. I was crying to the receptionist begging for help. A lot of his patience were driving there for the same reason because they wouldn't answer there phones. Dr. Frank King had the audacity to compare my situation to ordering fast food at a restaurant. So over a span of 2 months they never got my insurance approved, never sent my info to the surgery center, didn't do anything to help me. read more

Dr Frank King is an excellent Pain Management Doctor.

Dr. King treated me for heel pain I experienced back in Summer/Fall 2009. He recommended physical therapy for me and was never too aggressive with treatment. I received a cortisol shot from him for the heel pain. I was scared of the needle. It was huge. He numbed my heel before he gave me the other shot. I had a large heel spur that he was trying to break up a bit. He was really nice during the whole process and it hurt less than I imagined. Dr. King was always very warm and professional. I'd go back to him if I lived in the area. read more

After months of increasing pain I finally dragged out of him that he had made a big change to his practice that I was not informed about. He was no longer going to treat me with the same meds he use to prescribe because he now prefers IT pain pumps. I was forced to come up with other possible options on my own because a pain pump should only be used after all options have been exhausted. Sadly, I could not rely on his ability to treat me and in the end, I could no longer trust him. I only wish I knew about this change months ago. Now I have nerve pain coming from 3 areas of my spine due to months of increasing pain and muscle tension. I am trying to repair the damage caused by his poor decisions and inability to understand the situation and do whats best for the patient, not whats best for his practice (i.e pain pump!!!). read more

Dr King is a caring, intelligent Dr who listens to your symptoms completely before deciding on a treatment. He knows the newest and latest advancements and will do what is necessary to help his patient. I trust him completely--- he has done 2 spinal epidurals for my pain but only after I tried medications and physical therapy first. He is my first choice for anything orthopedic and pain-related and I've referred family and friends to him because of this! read more

I have been treated by Dr. King for degrative disks in my neck, which cause a lot of pain an discomfort. I was very happy with the results of the ablation that he performed. I was sent to him by Dr. Waldman who has since retired. I was profiled by Dr. Waldman when I told him that my previous pain management Dr. had me on opioids. Dr. King tested me and found that I did not have the drug in my system but I still felt like I was being looked down upon. I was upset when I went Dr. Wildman's replacement and he immediately exclaimed that he did not prescribe opioids so I was profiled in my records. I think that there is a problem when for years doctors prescribed pain drugs and then suddenly if you've taken them its somehow your fault and you are labeled a drug abuser. It caused a rift with me and Dr. King because he always asked me if I was taking pain medication. I always wondered that if he was not prescribing the drug for me, where it would be coming from. Very strange. At any rate I appreciated Dr. Kings help. At this point I am with a different medical group but I would recommend him if you can get past his unprofessional staff.. A great and caring human being. read more

Dr. King has been a wonderful doctor over the last few years I've been there. He has great bedside manner - listens well, caring, and always willing to discuss the situation. I've seen five different pain docs in south OC and he has been the best by far. read more

I have been a patient of Dr King's now for over two years and am very pleased with his care. He is very knowledgeable and personable, and very easy to speak with concerning issues that need addressed. I have had several treatments and for the most part they were effective. So far I have absolutely no complaints. The staff is friendly which is the main reason I left my last doctor. (Dr C Holden was a good doctor, but his staff treated my wife, and other patients as second class citizens, so this was a very important issue for my wife and me.) The care I receive unfortunately is necessary, and Dr. King is the best. read more

Dr. King is exceptional. He is kind, knowledgeable, thorough and he makes himself available. I have been dealing with pain management for over 24 years and I started off with a doctor who wanted to load me up with a bunch of pain bills. I quickly left that one and the journey began. Accupuncture, fusions, etc. Then pain mgmt. with radio frequency ablation to keep the pills to a minimum. This seems to work best. I moved to OC Sept. 2014 & of course, I ran into a doc or two along the way who questioned 'my condition and/or pain' (I can only think of two but I stopped reading those reports as they used to really anger & frustrate me). There is not a person on this planet that would chose to live tired & zoned out for 24 years, have a fusion surgery followed by another surgery to remove the screws, etc. etc. IF it didn't hurt 24/7 a lot. I would Love nothing more than to put all of this behind me but .... That's not going to happen so I'm very grateful for doctors like Dr. King who help 'ease the pain' along the way! He is sincerely a superior doctor and guy! read more

I have worked with Dr. King for several years to treat chronic pain associated with degenerative spine disease including spinal stenosis, facet stenosis and recently a cyst at S1. His treatments have allowed me to work, enjoy family activities and keep my pain at a tolerable level. In particular, he is incredibly skilled with injections - very interactive during the procedure and is focused on reducing any discomfort for the patient. Definitely a skilled practitioner and one of those rare individuals who has strong professional abilities as well as a compassionate bedside manner. read more

I've been to Mission Pain and Spine 15+ times to see Dr. King and I have been extremely satisfied with my time there. He's a down-to-earth physician who truly cares. I'd go as far to say that he's brilliant. I went to see him for nerve pain in my legs, pudendal neuralgia, and back pain. All of these are seeing increasing improvement. The wait time can be a little long for Dr. King once you're in the check up room to see him, but it's because he spends extensive time with each patient, and will also do so with you, answering ALL of your questions. He runs behind often because of this, but if you're willing to wait a little extra time and be patient, it is absolutely worth the wait. Once he is with you, he gives you all the time in the world, something rare in the doctors' world these days. We all know the doctors that sort of rush you through their office like cattle to ensure numerous patients are seen within a short amount of time. Dr. King is the complete opposite, will answer all your questions thoroughly, and make sure you leave feeling informed and heard. He has superb bedside manner, and is incredibly intelligent in numerous areas of medicine. He's down to earth, practical, and speaks of difficult medical concepts in easy to understand wordings. I read Mr. B's one star comment and I'm not surprised because Dr. King is incredibly honest and wants you to know his honest opinion. Sometimes medicine is a shot in the dark and can't give guaranteed results. I've had numerous injections with him because of complex nerve issues. He actually suggested to try PT first before any injections. He also discouraged taking meds initially, saying that it's best to try to let your body do everything it can to heal itself first through PT or guided exercise. He's not in it for the "betterment of his practice", and the aforementioned comments manifest this. He'll communicate with your other doctors if you ask. He communicated with my pelvic floor physical therapist to come up with the best solution for my pudendal neuralgia. After communicating, they suggested a treatment that did indeed worked for one of my symptoms. They did the same for another one of my symptoms and it actually made things slightly worse. I was open and honest and let Dr. King and my therapist know that it exacerbated my symptoms. We tried another route/ a different procedure after the first lack of success and now my legs feel WAY better. I know Mr. B is frustrated, and I have sympathy, but doctors sometimes can just try their best and can't be absolutely perfect. The body is more complex than we think sometimes. You're going to have moments with back, nerve, and muscular stuff where you digress or backtrack in your progress. You can't just pop a pill or get one injection and expect to be better. Nerves are incredibly complex. In all of this, I've always felt Dr. King's support. See him once, and you'll know what I'm talking about. I feel safe with him during check ups, and during procedures, and have not felt the same with other doctors. read more

Dr. Frank King is an amazing Doctor with incredible skills! Today, I am a pain free, functioning grandmother. I was born with a moderate/severe scoliosis. Since my early 30's I discovered that if I exercised, the pain in my back was less. However, as I grew older, the pain increased and I needed more pain medication. In 2006, I saw Dr. King. He spent time with me securing my history, my daily routine, my records and charts. He had me complete appropriate medical test; I tried physical therapy; added palates to my gym classes; but, nothing alleviated my increased back or neck pain. Dr. King performed a cervical and lumbar ablation in November, 2006. I was pain free for 7-1/2 years! (I did continue my exercise classes 3x a week). However, over time, the nerves of my spine came alive again, as Dr. King said they would. Because the pain was so bad, this past October, Dr. King once again performed a cervical and a lumbar ablation. Dr. King has an envious surgical skill-set, as I am pain free again! If you need help with your spine, Dr. Frank King is the doctor for you. read more

I don;'t know who these people are that got paid to write these reviews. He makes judgements before he says you from some guy who wishes he was a PA. (just a clerk). I had a horrible experience with him and it's no wonder it was empty and people kept missing their appointments. He has his degree from Baja and acts as if he went to Harvard. He ripped my insurance carrier because they weren'tt paying him enough momey for unneccesary procedures. He is arrogant,.stubborn and avoid him at all costs or you will regret it. I had to go to the hospital the next day for a severe illness I begged him to listen to and he repreatdly acted liked he didn't hear. I suffered so much at th hands of him and owe a giant hospital bill that could have been greatly reduced if it wasn't for him. My hospital doctors were furious with him.
