Had some trouble with the light posts and timer on our pool due to a lightning storm, and some outlets in our daughter's room. They were able to diagnose and fix the problem right away. I told the guy, my two general electricians have both seen and worked on my box without any issue or concern. Anytime told me, these electricians didn't know what they were talking about. I said I had other electricians coming to bid for the job. He asked why I need electricians if I have two. I told him they were both unavailable for the next few months due to larger projects and I wanted the work done sooner. Clearly, the two people I use earned big business jobs in the area but don't know what they are talking about. Anytime told me to take a picture of my box and sent it to him before he would do the work. He called me the next day to tell me, he would not do the work until I replaced my panel. He would do that for $4500 and ONLY then would consider the job. I told him that was great as he has not seen, worked on or taken apart the panel to see if there are actual issues. He was certain the ones was old, had issues and more than likely corrosions from its age. I had three electricians bid for the job today. All three looked at the panel and agreed it is old but it is in great condition, no corrosion and all the breakers work solid. They all were comfortable doing the work should I accept their bid. 5 electricians seem to think my panel is okay. Anytime needs me to replace it for 4500 before even considering my job request. What a joke.

I called last week with general questions regarding my breaker panel. The Owner was very…read moreprofessional and courteous. His first question was how old the panel was, when answered I was met with, immediately, you need to change the panel - "a panel is like a roof, it needs to be changed every 20-30 years, even without issues". This seemed odd. I reached out to contractors I know and they had never heard that, but the internet has... so that's divided. The Owner, once again, was polite and friendly. He offered to fit me in for an inspection that he would personally do. This turned into him later sending a technician instead, but the inspection was still being done. The technician came out, checked the panel and then advised my wife who was home and was the point of contact. I specifically told the Owner as well as the technician, my wife would be the contact. The technician didn't even leave my drive way. Was literally sitting in it when he called me to follow up. I asked if he spoke to my wife. He said he did. I asked why he needed to call me. "To follow up" . But you spoke to my wife. "Yes". Then why are we speaking? He had no answer. I was put off by the fact he felt it necessary to speak to me as if my wife didn't get it. The technician basically told me everything that my wife already advised me of when she called quickly to let me know they wanted $6000 to replace my panel but couldn't tell her why. So I asked why. The answer - it's old. There is no danger, nothing imminent, the fuses look okay but it's old. When I said that seems illogical if it works, I was told I may not be aware that power isn't going to the house and lights might not work. I only live there, I think I would know if lights didn't work. But whatever. The technician also asked if he could follow up in a few days. Of course you can but why ask? "Because some customers feel that we harass them". Oof. That's awkward. They also have payment plans available, included in the quote should you move forward with the project. I immediately called for a second and third opinion. Both second and third reported my panel was in excellent condition and besides one fuse, didn't need to be replaced. They also quoted a project like that $3k less if not more but didn't have actual. I also didn't want to waste their time getting one considering I wasn't doing the work. Very nice company, but not for the work I need.
