Yes, it is not fancy, no they don't have table cloths and cloth napkins. but the food is so good, the place is clean and the servers are wonderful. That is five star. The menu is amazing as far as selections. The list of country style sides is so long they have it printed on a separate card from the menu. They take credit cards and do a super amount of take out service. The parking is more than adequate, plus there is an area for tractor trucks and RV's to park. Great place to stop on way to or from the ferry.

Frank and Shirley's...This restaurant is awesome! The food is fresh, cooked on site, and out of this world delicious! The waitresses are friendly and kind and make their customers feel imporant! A favorite of the local people so you know it has to be good! A must place to stop and eat if you are in the Aurora area! They have a carry out window that was just hopping! One word though, you must pre-order their prime rib at 2pm on Saturday. The chef only cooks so much and when it's gone, it's gone! But that's how they keep things fresh with no wastefulness!! And if it's gone, don't fret. Their steaks are delicious!! Before you leave don't forget to get a dessert from their homemade dessert area! Oh my!! You won't be disappointed!! Full of delicious goodness!! We were so glad we found this place! Will we come back? Yup, You betcha!! I'm giving this 5 stars for good food, reasonable prices, friendly service and just an overall enjoyable experience!

Three to four stars is an accurate ratting for Charlies…read more Popped in on the way to visit family in the area and after eating Waffle House for dinner I needed something light to fill the stomach for breakfast. Stopped in at the right time as shortly after multiple families came in. Definitely can see this being a busy spot pre/post church. Was a little surprised about the lemon juice packets for my water, first I have seen that. I enjoyed my meal. Everything hit the spot with my order. My grandfather's poached eggs were overcooked but he enjoyed it all. Other things that stuck out was they had no OJ, overheard the waitress tell a young boy they were out of apple juice, and they were not serving french toast. Maybe staffing issues with it being Labor Day weekend but I would have thought having a fully stocked kitchen would be important. If traveling through I would pop in for some grub, it is better than the Mc. Donalds up the road.

The FOOD oh my god my $20 plate came out with 4 soggy cold fried oysters and 5 rubbery weird tasting scallops. There was no seasoning on anything it's like everything was microwaved. Food took 45 minutes to come out and there was only 3 people tables in the restaurant. My food tasted like it came out of the bus tray, I'd rather eat out of the foodlion dumpster honestly. Heard the restaurant was great 3 or 4 years ago but now it's horrible. Would not recommend this place to anyone that's ever ate decent food in their life, wouldn't feed my worst enemy this food.

They have a nice selection of cocktails, many of which seem crafted to honor the local vibe. I had a cocktail containing a house distilled gin. Delicious. They also let my husband sample two of the house distilled gins before he ordered a gin and tonic. He was very happy. Kennedy, our friendly, knowledgeable server, brought out complimentary cornbread with brown butter/molasses butter and tomato soup shooters. Yum. They offer two- and three-course price fix menus, and for a few dollars more, you can make it a wine pairing. My husband did that, and I ordered off of the regular menu. His collard green salad was sensational! He couldn't stop raving about it even as he was finishing it up. His second course was filet mignon, and it was the most savory, tasty filet I've ever had! I had lemon risotto with asparagus and tomatoes - it was delicious as well. We were at the Hackney to celebrate closing on our house in Washington, and we made the perfect choice for a celebratory dinner. We will be back!

I ordered the bone in pork chop, it was just a Chop. No depth. No wow In the seasoning. It had chopped pickles on it and Was cooked medium well. I do better with a chop from Harris Teeter, some rosemary and a grill. My husband enjoyed the Rockfish although portion was small. Even the house bread pudding was lack luster. This was a birthday celebration. Was hoping the chef would walk the floor. But no. Luckily we stumbled into Blue the next day. Lovely. Hackney needs to taste their menu. We will come back to Washington. Lovely little town. Won't come back to Hackney for a while.
