This was such a nice relaxing ride. Ashley was just the nicest person ever. Had a first timer with us and Ashley knew exactly what horse would be best for each rider immediately. Adam is great to deal with and was able to schedule me in a couple weeks in advance as we were on a time crunch. You start of in the pen and take a nice ride past a pond, through a river to start, and amazing ride through the woods and loop back around. This ride is recommended for everyone, from beginners to advanced riders. Views are spectacular!! read more

Took a winter sleigh ride with my family, and we had a blast! The sun had gone down, so it was a little dark and a little chilly, but the ride was still fantastic. The sleigh had several blankets in it, so everyone was able to stay warm while enjoying the ride. Make sure you call ahead to schedule your ride. I booked a trail ride for my family of 9 on August 10th. We were split into two groups: one with 4 riders and one with 5. We had to go at separate times but that ended up working out perfectly. The trails were beautiful and the horses were great! I rode Pie in the first group and he was such a good boy! I've been riding for a number of years but it was a first for the majority of my family and they all loved it. We loved it so much that we would love to come back in the winter for a sleigh ride! This place is amazing and I have NO idea why people don't review it more! Everyone needs to know how awesome it is there. I went while on a camping trip at Crawford Notch and made reservations two days before. Everything is pretty relaxed and low key. The horses are very well trained. I had Tuckerman and he took me though a river, forests and beautiful fields with spectacular mountain views. The price was fair and the guide was wonderful. Don't forget to tip! They work hard before and after the ride for everyone and deserve for you to let them know they're appreciated! This was my boyfriend's first time. I had to DRAG him there but after his experience..... he was in love and asking when was the next time we can go back, lol. If you prefer a private session where you can go a bit faster you can ask for one of those as well! We will be back in the fall since they're open year round :-) read more

Adam is the guy who runs the business right on Franconia Inn. He was very laid back and happy to answer any questions I had. There was a glitch in communication leaving voicemails but he eventually did reach out to me and told me I can text him. I think nowadays texting is probably the easiest and convenient way for even business owners to keep track of their clients. So word of advice, if you can't get a hold of Adam by calling, text him! He had 5 horses tied along a fence with water and hay available. He owned 3 of the horses that had great temperament and body conditions. He knew his horses very well and advised us in advance that his other horse Tucker does not like other horses and he needed to be kept a good distance from the others on the trails. The trail he took us on is owned by Franconia Inn so it was a very lovely quiet ride. We crossed over a small river and even saw a doe and her fawn at one point! Overall I had a great experience and I will come back again on my next trip up! read more

Friendly service, great views and fair price but some of the horses are not well trained for trail riding, despite what they tell you.

Highly recommended for families and riders with no experience. We took our family of five (three kids, youngest is a big 7 - minimum age is officially 8) and two of them had no riding experience. Sidney was our guide and she managed everyone perfectly; from horse selection and mounting to pace along the ride she had just the right balance of guidance and patience. She was never too loud, too bossy, or too absent. The horses were well-cared for and the barn and grounds were clean. The trail was peaceful and wandering through forest and across meadows, so you felt like you were riding cross-country as riders once did. We even had a small river crossing! It was not a boring ride on a wide straight road. I highly recommend these stables and the adjacent Franconia Inn - the soul of picturesque.If you stop to visit or ride, please say hello to Charlie, their recently retired draft horse! read more

5 star stable! Adam was amazingly accommodating for my fiancé who was a little over the weight limit and he put the extra effort in to pull his workhorse out onto the trails so he could ride him. He communicated with us the entire time even sending him a video of him riding the big guy to make sure he was sound enough before we went out. The trail was beautiful and they are definitely put a lot of love into their business. We will be back! read more

Our whole family (2 adults, two teenage boys) had a great time on our horse riding expedition, and none of us had spent any appreciable time on a horse before. I didn't catch our guides' name but he was fantastic and an honest to goodness rodeo competitor and cowboy! I wouldn't have been surprised if he pulled out a guitar and started singing sad cowboy songs while we were on the trail. The horses are beautiful and gentle, but I got a kick out of how they each have distinct personalities. My horse liked to stop and have a snack on his own every so often, but our guide helped guide me on how to get him moving again. By the end of the ride I was comfortable maneuvering him on my own. The ride lasted about an hour and the trail took us through meadows and forests and through a gentle river. This was a great and unique experience and we strongly recommend Franconia Notch Stables. read more

Came up here for my girlfriends birthday weekend and has an absolute blast here. The horses all seemed healthy and happy. It was nice to see they care about the horses and that they just aren't tools to them. We had Adam as our guide who was awesome. Was a really nice guy and also a gentleman. Seemed very knowledgeable of the skill and enjoyed hearing his stories. We most certainly will be back next time we're up that way. read more

We went to the White Mountain region for fall activities and found it overcrowded. Some brainstorming led us to look for a place to go horseback riding, and Franconia Notch Stables was a short drive away. We called to make a reservation and they were very accommodating. Our guide Shelby took us and another couple through the surrrounding woods and fields. We saw a deer and evidence of other wildlife which was interesting. The ride was fairly slow paced but we were all inexperienced riders anyways. Much better way to spend the afternoon than just looking at leaves. read more
