My review is specifically for the firefighters and EMTs at station #206 on Seminary road who were a godsend to me on Thursday when I needed their help. I couldn't be more impressed or thankful for their care and attention. Unable to move and in severe pain, they bundled me up, with extreme care got me to the ambulance and once they'd done their preliminary work whisked me off to the hospital. At all times I knew I was in good hands and they were exceptional at communicating with me each step of the way so I knew what was going to happen. One of the EMTs was even nice enough to ask my friend if she'd remembered to let my cat out of the bedroom where he'd been locked up while they worked. No one ever intends to need help from our Fire and EMS folks. But I'm really thankful for the crew at station #206 who were there when I really needed them.

This goes out to Engine 106's crew on 9/26/16 @ 2 am (responding to a call off of Arlington…read moreCounty). I did not see a Yelp listing for Arlington's fire department. My girlfriend and I recently moved to a new apartment and the wooden slat that the previous tenant used to lock the sliding glass door that led to a third story balcony fell behind us, stranding us on our balcony. After trying to call neighbors and locksmiths with no affordable options (lock smith for a condominium with a communal locked front door + personal locked door being $295-$400, and neighbors not answering) I called the non-emergency number for Arlington county's police/fire. The responder told me that "you only call this number as your last resort" and that he was sending the fire department, who I assumed would break the lob door and apartment door by force. I tried to talk him out of it to no avail. Thankfully, they Instead took us down from the balcony with the firetruck's bucket and allowed us to try a few neighbors' codes to buzz us in and eventually got past the first door. Our apartment door was opened gracefully with minimal damage. Every one of them was understanding and courteous. "This is what we do". Thank you so much for helping us out in this potentially costly and/or dangerous ( I was considering trying to climb down from the third story balcony that offers no footing) minor emergency. I could not be more impressed with the professionalism and care these brave men provided us. If Alexandria's fire department sees this I plead you will forward it to the firefighters of Arlington county. Best wishes, IG

I would like to thank the Oxon Hill Fire departments (Arlington, Fairfax, Alexandria, Navel…read moreDistrict, Andrews?). I want to say thank you to all that helped put out the fire in the Oxon Hill Village Apartments on January 1, 2021@ around 830 pm. It is a good thing that you are taught at an early age to devise an escape plan in case of fire, things like feeling the door before opening, or what exit to use. That night I got out alive using those helpful life-saving steps. Within minutes I had to remember to stay calm, move swiftly but carefully. I was falling asleep in my recliner when a neighbor shouted fire get out! the command sounds simple, but it is a hard one when black smoke comes into your main escape route and your two other exits are covered in smoke and what I can only assume are pieces of my neighbor's upstairs apartment. I was falling asleep when I heard get out!, when I ran away from the black smoke at the front door I ran to my bedroom and I thank God to this day I had been procrastinating about taking my sleep medication. When I ran to my bedroom when I think back on it my bedroom looked foggy because of smoke, had I taken my medicine I never would have woken up! I am thankful every morning that I wake up! thankful? that none of my family were there. I can't even tell you how long it took to get out, but when I finally got out I got in my car, and when I was pulling out of my parking space the fire department came rolling in. It is my belief that because of The Oxon Hill Fire Departments' swift action and the Oxon Hill Village Maintenance team, the row of apartments did not blow up, it is my Firm belief life would have been lost rather than the displacement of Sixty-Five people. I took hours to put the fire out. I left our complex at about 12 am ? and those brave Men and Women were still working. When I called to get information to give to my insurance company the fire department. ent was much more helpful than the complex. My younger brother is a fireman, so I know the hours are long and have always known the job is dangerous, but how you are treated after the fire also matters. So I really want them to know that the departments of fire and ems are so appreciated. I am rather embarrassed that it has taken so long for this review, but not one day goes by that I don't think about that night. Until next Yelp, Vj

The Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department is a group of "neighbors helping neighbors" since…read more1944. Yeah, tired old cliche, but it was true then, and it's true now. It never ceases to amaze me how many people who live in Loudoun County have no idea that their tax money doesn't actually pay for career staff 24/7, let alone the equipment and apparatuses needed to save lives. So that's where we step in. We're your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers, and we're here to serve the community (and drive really fast while doing it)! Chances are, if you call 9-1-1 between 1800 and 0600 hours, the folks who will show up at your door to put our your fire, check for a gas leak, or care for you on your way to the hospital are only getting paid in personal pride for giving back to the community. Most people know that the fire station is where our shiny yellow engines and ladder trucks are quartered. Many people also know that we're a joint department - so we have ambulances as medics as well. But that's not all! Our primary Station 6 (we have two: Stations 6 and 23) serves as a bastion for the community, hosting open houses, monthly pancake breakfasts, Mother's Day breakfasts, spaghetti dinners, and our Founders Hall is often rented out for private events. Our volunteer staff go through literally hundreds of hours of book and practical training before being released as firefighters and/or emergency medical technicians. We're constantly brushing up on our skills, and during our duty crew nights you can often find us around town doing practice drills. Our people come from all walks of life - most of us have full-time day jobs ranging from consultants to construction workers to students, and everything in between. It's often like being part of a great big family. A sometimes dysfunctional one, but a family nonetheless. We mess around with each other, we argue, and we tease, but when the fecal matter hits the rotating air circulation device, we cover each other's backs and get it done, because when it comes down to it, each and every one of us is passionate about protecting our homes and our neighbors. Come on down and say hi. Ask to do a ride-along. And for the love of all that is good and right with the world, pull over when you see me tearing down the road in an ambulance with my lights and sirens on!

Once a month they do a pancake breakfast, usually the 1st Sunday of the month. They have all the fixings. Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, hash browns, biscuits, sausage gravy, yogurt, coffee, and juices. It's very cheap and it all goes to help the station. There is also a kiddie section for kids to do crafts. Come during December and Santa will be there for pictures. So check out their calendar every month on their website and see when the next one is. It's one less weekend meal you have to worry about. Get there early as it can get packed at times.

Wow, on the customer service. I walked in on Friday around 11am. The door could be wiped down a little better. Tables were clean, restrooms were nice and detailed. I'm big on the little things esp the chips! The chips were well organized! Omgoodness! That's the first thing i noticed as I've had experiences at other firehouses were they had expired chips in the back when it should be moved to the front and new ones in the back. I was greeted by the GM, he didn't know I been to many locations and quite a fan of this Sorensen brothers company. He greeted and treated me with personality. I usually get the Italian and I decided to try the hook and ladder instead. I'm big on my sandwiches as I've had bad experiences before at other locations when they don't listen to your needs. My sandwich It's not sloppy and prob one of the best attention to detail to their customers needs! Exactly how i wanted my sub! Usually you can tell if people are about the passion of the company and the want to serve the community and it's customers. They are all about that. I really enjoyed the vibes here. The GM even let me keep a bag of chips.. What I truly enjoy about the customer service above and beyond is experience is that the GM came around the front to personally hand my sandwich to me by name! Now, that's a 5 stars from me as I look for that in every fast food sandwich place and in every firehouse!

I was shocked at how much a large sub was yet I know the quality is always good and better than similar place. We ordered four large subs - two Italian meatballs and two turkey sandwiches. The two sandwiches I ordered for myself were my meals for 3 days. I hardly eat fast food and remember that I last bought footlong Italian meatball sandwiches for $5. The sandwich tasted good like the ones I bought for $5 yet I understand how prices of food has doubled in a year or two.
