Our server was quick to take our drink order and soon after brought them to the table. A maple old fashioned for the Mrs. and a Dog House IPA from Petawawa. Both were perfect to start our evening. We ordered our starters; a Caesar salad for myself and the Soup du Jour (a homemade tomato soup for the Mrs.) She really enjoyed the soup. It was hot and creamy and very flavourful. The Caesar was fine to me. I like a more punchy dressing, more garlic, anchovy. But I do know I am in the minority here, I like it to really rock you. And most people probably wouldn't enjoy that. So, you may really enjoy theirs. It had lots of bacon bits, great croutons and cheese. Our mains were Pork Roulade for the Mrs. and Branzino en Papillote for myself. Only issue with the Roulade for my wife was she could only finish half of the dish. It is a big serving. And the Branzino is a very filling dish as well. The Branzino was cooked perfectly and was buttery and light. Inside there is a soppressetta salami and thin sliced tomato and emmental cheese. I think the tomato was unripe, it was crunchy, and even though I absolutely love a soppressetta sandwich, I found it too overpowering for the fish. It does sing in there though. On the side is a very large serving of roasted vegetables. They were very tasty, and very hot. The first bite took me by surprise! And that was a very good thing. Caution, let them cool for a minute. The restaurant is a very nice place to have a great evening. And we will certainly be returning to try more of their great menu. And we are curious to see the upstairs next time. We had a great time, delicious meals and drinks and our wait staff was very friendly and did a wonderful job.

The restaurant is nicely decorated and servers were friendly, informative and attentive. The menu had an interesting variety of dishes. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed with my meal. I wanted to try the roasted bone marrow but they had just run out of it. They only have six appetizers on the menu so I wouldn't think they'd run out of one. So we skipped the appetizers and I had the "Duck Magret 42 - Crispy-skinned, roasted duck breast (served medium-rare), finished with a blueberry and red wine reduction accompanied by creamy barley, glazed carrots, green beans, and a warm tangerine-arugula salad". I don't mean to sound too picky here but the plating was a problem. See pic. The barley, carrots, beans and salad were all piled in that order in a bowl. So you'd have to eat the salad off, then pick the carrots and beans off, put them on your plate to cut them then eat them then eat the barley. The plate looked a bit sparse. I think it would look better with the veggies and salad on the plate and the barley on its own in the bowl. Then you could eat any of the items in any order you wish. The duck was cooked well at medium rare but the skin was not crispy. That's one of the best parts of duck! Crispy skin! All components tasted pretty good though. I ordered a side of duck fat potatoes. They were tiny cubes smaller than dice. They were under seasoned and not crispy. I make duck fat potatoes at home and the best part is the crispy outside! I couldn't tell these were cooked in duck fat. Pretty disappointing. My girlfriend had the "Risotto Di Mare 38 - Creamy arborio rice with mussels, shrimp, scallops, fresh grape tomatoes, topped with shaved parmesan, dry bonito and touille cracker" which I tried and it was rich, creamy and delicious! But again the plating was odd. See pic. The touille was tasty but so big that it covered the whole dish and kind of ruined the presentation. But she loved it. I'd rate my meal a 3.5 and hers a 4.5 but Yelp only allows 1-5 so I'm giving it a 4 overall. I'll try it again and try something else and hope for a better overall experience.

We made a reservation the day before and our table was ready for us when we arrived. The interior of the restaurant is modern and just the right amount of light and shadow to make an intimate atmosphere. Our server, Olivia, was really great. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio to celebrate and when we told her it was our anniversary she brought us two complimentary glasses of Prosecco. So thoughtful of her. We ordered the spinach dip with tortilla chips and naan bread and it was really yummy. Well presented, hot and plenty of it. After our appie we ordered New York strip steaks with twice baked potatoes and peppercorn sauce. Seasonal veg was broccoli. We also ordered a side of onions and mushrooms. Well, oh my the portions were generous and we ended up taking a lot home. The steaks were cooked to perfection; 1 rare and 1 med rare and everything was presented so well. We had no room for dessert although the menu looked amazing. The carrot lava cake was an intriguing entry. All in all a very pleasant evening. Attentive and good natured, Olivia was really on her game and made our special evening complete. Highly recommend. We'll be back for sure.

An Epic Father's Day Meal - Rose Bowl Steakhouse Sets the Bar High…read more Wow... just wow. After a full day of surprises and celebration, our dinner at Rose Bowl Steakhouse in Ottawa was the perfect grand finale. From the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special--and the experience exceeded every expectation. Let's talk service first. The waiting staff were absolutely incredible--attentive, professional, and perfectly timed. You know that sweet spot where they're there when you need them, but never intrusive? They nailed it. Our server was on point, making us feel welcomed and looked after the entire evening. The bartender deserves a shoutout of their own--he crafted what I can only describe as the greatest Old Fashioned of all time. Seriously, I've had many, and this one takes the crown. Even the busser went out of their way to make us feel at home, offering kind words and a smile that instantly elevated the vibe. It felt like every member of the team genuinely cared about the guest experience. And then came the food... We started with the calamari and escargots, and they were nothing short of outstanding. The calamari was perfectly crispy with just the right amount of seasoning, and the escargots were rich, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. They set the tone for what was to come. For the mains: I had the sirloin steak, cooked to absolute perfection--juicy, tender, and bursting with flavour. My wife ordered the grilled salmon, which was beautifully presented and tasted as fresh as it gets. Our oldest went for the lobster ravioli, and let's just say they're still talking about it. Rich, creamy, and loaded with lobster--an unforgettable dish. Portions were generous (to say the least), and we definitely didn't leave hungry. We were tempted by dessert but had plans to grab gelato elsewhere, so we'll save that for the next visit--which is already a guarantee. Rose Bowl Steakhouse gave us more than just a meal--it gave us a moment. It was the perfect way to wrap up Father's Day: with full hearts, fuller stomachs, and a shared memory we'll be talking about for a long time. If you're in Ottawa and want a place that delivers exceptional food, world-class cocktails, and top-tier hospitality, do yourself a favour and book a table here. You won't regret it.

The beef tartare was really good had some pickles, and spicy mustard to compliments it. Scallops and bacon came with a peanut sauce with nice crunchy texture. I didn't try the Arancini (not gluten free). The ambiance is very dark but the little lamp on the table gave really good lighting. Easy to read the menu. For the main I went with prime steak $75 for 18oz medium rare. it comes with broccolini and carrots. For the side we ordered onions, mushrooms, mashed potatoes and bien sur my favourite fries. Most sides are around $7. Wish I would have tried the stuffed baked potato. It will have to be next time. Steak came cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed the mashed potato and my side of fries. My friend ordered the salmon and shared a piece. I thought it was missing flavour for having all the citrus on top. It was also on the dry side. I do have to say that the service was a bit off. Drink ordered all at the same time. Beer came fast, but martinis and drinks were forgotten a few times. We had to ask twice for the same drink that didn't come until much later. Maybe, it's a good thing limited us to 2 drinks. But if you want to enjoy your wine with meal... I was a little too full to look at the dessert menu, next time. Overall, good experience at this steakhouse. I will have to come back over the summer for a date night. lol
