I have 8 check-ins here and love the food, but have to say unless we order take out we won't return. We were in tonight and had probably the crappiest service ever at any restaurant, our waitor Luie told me I couldn't order the personal size pizza, even though it is on the dinner menu,so I just ordered 1 slice and a side salad. The 2 others I dined with got their meals and my 1 slice came 5 minutes after that. No extra napkins, no drink refills, no asking if meals were ok, brought our check and did not say thank you or even ask if there was anything else we would like. Update: There's no better review of this restaurant under its "new management" than the owner's response to my review on Google after they wouldn't honor their own coupon: "Try little Caesar." WOW. That is the epitome of "we couldn't care less." So happy I never gave this place a dime. What a profoundly disappointing experience...my girlfriend and I moved to Henrico in April and just last week (third week of May) received this gift card for a free pizza at Franco's for "new neighbors/customers only." (See the photo.) Well, today for lunch we decided to check Franco's out, only to get to the restaurant, get seated, order beers, and then have the server tell us the restaurant was no longer honoring this coupon. I asked why, the server said she didn't know, that maybe it was still good at other Franco's locations. BUT...the gift card has only the Staples Mills' location's address on it. Sooo...I asked to speak the manager. There was--can you guess?--no manager there. So my girlfriend and I cannot speak about the actual food here, because after this bizarre bait-and-switch scheme, we got up and left. I can't imagine how hard-up a business has to be to offer a coupon that they then refuse to honor. Is it worth saving $13 on the cost of that pizza for the negative feedback they get when a customer like me let's the world know how sketchy that is on YELP? Limited review: Tiramisu was okay Got Tiramisu as a quick, take-out item. Atmosphere was relaxed, clean and relatively updated. Appeared steady for late afternoon on a Monday. Service was quick and pleasant. Portion and cost very reasonable. $5.60. The filling was light and fresh. The lady finger portion tasted a bit more like regular cake; which, was at least moist. The espresso kick seemed a touch underdone, and the filling to cake ratio lower than other. We may work our way to try the rest of the place, but wouldn't reach for the tiramisu. Bad experience today and my last at Franco's. Ordered take out online through their website which uses Toast app. Arrived at the appointed time to them being totally underwater with orders. Gave them my name, five minutes later they ask if I called the order in. Told them I ordered online and was informed their system is "not connected to that" anymore and my choices were to have them enter the order now and wait or go online somehow through toast and cancel the order. Staff not helpful and couldn't have cared less. I'll drive the extra couple minutes to go to Roma's from now on, maybe have a Roma's cheesesteak while I'm on the phone with credit card company disputing charges. read more

Huge portions, always fresh and soooooo delish! Some items seem overpriced but overall the one of the best in town.

Sad to say I won't have much reason to be back. They've stopped selling pizza by the slice--which was the only thing I ordered for myself there. I could get two slices while my family could get a slice and a salad or a sandwich. But that's no longer possible. My family and I have very different topping preferences and even allergies--which means we'd have to order multiple pizzas. I'm sure that's the company's aim, but its cost them my business and my family's--and we were pretty regular customers. Sorry to see them make this decision, as we enjoyed going there. read more

Our first impression was seeing a kitchen staff member without a mask on. Given the precautions set in place due to the pandemic, this was extremely disappointing to see. Our order (chicken Parmesan and carbonara) was for takeout and while it wasn't terrible it was underwhelming. To me it was obvious that the chicken was frozen (on top of the breading being totally soggy) and that the sauce wasn't fresh (it tasted and looked like it came out of a can). Additionally, the carbonara sauce appeared to be just thinned out Alfredo sauce and looked nothing like the traditional carbonara made with egg yolk and cheese. This review would have been three stars because the food wasn't the worst I'd had but with staff members not wearing masks I can guarantee we will not be returning. read more

This is a typical mom and pop Italian restaurant that is very common in the Richmond area. Unfortunately, they changed ownership a little while ago and the quality of food declined significantly. I. used to order the Thursday night carry out pizza special almost every week, but the last three times I have ordered it, the toppings were not as plentiful, and the crust has been almost raw in the middle. I have requested that they cook it longer, but the fix doesn't seem to take. Overall, it is not a bad restaurant, but with so many others just like it within the same stretch of road, it is no longer a place that I look forward to going to. Very good dining experience. I've been trying to find authentic Italian food since I moved from NY, and this is the best so far. After so many discouraging experiences elsewhere, I'd nearly given up, but went to a party a few weeks ago that featured Franco's dishes. Two lasagnas, one with meat and one vegetable, were outstanding. Sausage and peppers was well prepared, with the onions and peppers perfectly cooked. Fettucine alfredo with chicken was likewise just right. I decided I'd have to try a dine-in experience. It was a good decision. I had penne a la vodka with ham and mushrooms and my dining companion had penne with tomato sauce and sausage. Both dishes were excellent and the portions were huge. we brought home leftovers for another meal. We will return to further explore the menu. read more

Had the Spaghetti Carbonara for lunch. Large portion with two garlic knots and a side salad. Enough for two people even though it was a single order. Nice quiet atmosphere with good service. The salad was fairly standard with iceberg lettuce. The garlic knots were good. The pasta was severely over-sauced and the bacon was very undercooked. We have been going here since they first opened...food has continued to decline. Spaghetti and meat sauce had very very little meat, wines tasted very cheap and portions have decreased. This is my 2nd visit for take out and I remember wanting to come back because I liked the pasta carbonara so much! Got 2 subs tonight and overall felt they could have been much better. Philly had great cook and taste but the bread wasn't sturdy enough to hold the delicious insides. Sandwhich gets soggy and falls apart. Toast the bread on the flat top to avoid this and place the whole thing under the broiler to melt the cheese. Boom! World's better! And half or dice the tomatoes for wedge sandwiches. The Italian sub was just difficult to eat and not best served warm. Wilts the lettuce and warm tomato just aren't a great mouth feel. The wedge is difficult to pull off because it doesn't give you a complete bite every time. Ingredients get pushed out the open side. Staff was very friendly and dining room seems intimate and cozy! I'll go to dine in sometime but I'm leaning towards carryout and delivery as being best options. The pizzas looked good and the pastas were good! The food here tastes like suburban shopping center food, served in abundance, which is of course what it is. That makes this restaurant hard to rate: it's not like you are at Edo's Squid or Mama Zu's and you know that going in. The best part of several meals I have had here may be the side salad with nice dressings. The accompanying dinner rolls have an herb before, during, and after taste that I like but one is likely to be enough for now and the foreseeable future. I've had four entrees at Franco's: baked spaghetti, spaghetti marinara, cheese ravioli, and linguine with red clam sauce. Of those I liked the ravioli the best. Cooked perfectly and cheese that balances well with the sauce. A nice dish. My most disappointing entrée, by far, was the linguine with red clam sauce. There was no clam taste or aroma with this dish, but there were bits of brown fleck that looked like hamburger, on a huge pile of soggy linguine. I cannot describe or put my finger on the flavor, but it was a struggle to remove it from my mouth and hands. Don't do it! Now to the spaghetti entrees. Your first reaction to these dishes is likely to be to the shear size of the dish: there is enough pasta on the plate to feed a medium-sized orphanage. If you remember anything about this review, don't overlook the option to get a 1/2 sized portion on many of their entrée choices. Even then, a family of four reasonably sized people would not go to bed hungry. Am I urging you not to eat at Franco's? To the contrary, if you find yourself having just visited Kroger next door and don't relish the prospect of returning to home and cooking a meal, by all means drop by and pick up a to-go order. After lugging those groceries to the kitchen you will be grateful to have a meal already prepared and ready to eat, which somewhat offsets the quality of food that for me has ranged from okay to not so hot. Or you might want a night out in Glen Allen, and so maybe a seat in this medium sized (clean and low noise level) restaurant that apparently does a decent pizza business (I saw a quite a few pies fly out of the door). Just go in acknowledging where you are and what you will be getting for a reasonable price. All ten pounds of it! read more

You know Food? dog food maybe...no my dog food is better than this. I am from Asia, NYC, CA, Miami.....place like this is NOT edible. Waited for 20 minutes, customers were mostly out of shape walking in and out, we had a bad feelings already. A glass of white wine, cheap crap. Calamari Ring, wrong cut, bland and VERY greasy! we had instant stomach problems. Salad ok. My linguine with white wine sauce and clam, sucks!very bland without any flavor. I frequently visit Francos! The chicken Parmesan is overwhelmingly delicious. You will always need a to go box because it is enough to feed a small village. I love the local at home feel I get every time I go. I also like their pizza by the slice. read more

I finally got a moment to try Franco's. The inside was decorated nicely, there seems to be a lot of staff standing around by the front door.. We were seated immediately which was nice. The server was great, very friendly, very attentive but not over the top. The prices are average.. The usual rate for this type of food. As for the food...our appetizer was fried mozzarella sticks.. Right away it was obvious they were made from frozen.. They were perfectly shaped and were scalding.. Literally.. Hot.. It took a while to be able to eat it because the steam was coming off it like that. They were fried hard so they ad a crunch to them. They tasted good because all things cheese are delicious to me.. So its hard to mess that up...I ordered manicotti, it was pretty good. It came with a ceasar salad which was also good... Nothing to rave about but it was good. The garlic knots were blah to me.. And normally I love garlic knots. I'm not sure whats missing.. But something is.. And they were harder than normal too.. I love them to be softer more dough like. I may go back again just to give it another chance. It was okay... Im a sucker for Italian food, so I'm hoping the next visit will be better. read more

We picked up a pizza here this weekend, am eating a cold leftover slice as I type this and am ready to go back for another. If I had to describe my perfect pizza, this would be it. It's a classic New York style cut (big slices you have to fold a bit in your hand.. amazing), saucy and the cheese is fresh and perfectly melted. Speaking from experience.. it's delicious both hot and cold. The place is cozy but has plenty of tables if you wanted to eat in. The girls working take out we're sweet both over the phone and in person. So, if you're like me and get nervous belly about calling in food, you need not worry! Our order took about 25 minutes on a Friday night & there wasn't a wait to be seated when we picked up. I don't think the pictures I took do this pizza justice so I will update after my next order which honestly could be any minute at this point! read more

I'm disappointed with Franco's. I've been meaning to try it ever since they opened. The service is spotty. We watched other couples be seated, receive drinks, place food order, and receive appetizers before our server returned with drinks. While she was pleasant when she was at our table, she was by very infrequently The chicken Marsala was the worst I've ever had...very bland. If I hadn't ordered it, I could not tell you it was chicken Marsala. So it didn't taste bad...just didn't taste like anything. The salad lettuce was brown at the edges (which is what my lettuce looks like at home...I expect more when I order salad at a restaurant). The homemade pasta did not taste homemade to me. Probably should stick to the frozen store bought pasta that they serve on the rest of the menu. If you can't make good homemade pasta, then leave it to the pros. Pizza wasn't bad and if I were to go back, this is the only item I would consider ordering. But if I'm going out specifically for pizza, there are better pizza joints. But it's good enough to keep me from giving 1 star. The proportions are generous, although the day after...I tossed everything but the pizza. If the food isn't good, the large portion size is simply wasteful. This is a quantity over quality type of restaurant. Due to the potentially long waits, this would not be the best place for small children unless they are very patient. Older children would be ok. read more
