The Long Version: When my husband and I bought our house, it came with a gas range. Having grown up with electric, I was really hesitant to keep it and wanted to switch to electric, but I eventually got used to it and we kept it. Not too long ago, the oven bit the dust and stopped working. The elements still worked but I need my oven! So at this point we decided to switch to electric. We needed someone to cap the gas line and install a 240V outlet for the new range. Francis Home Environment was great because they offered both services. We had 2 different technicians of course, but they were both from the same company who coordinated their work. My husband dealt with the technicians and I got to benefit from the results, lol. Terry came in the morning to cap the gas line. He was great. He checked the line in the basement too. Then David came in the afternoon to do the electrical work. He pointed out that the previous owners did not do some electrical work properly and we had live wires just taped up behind our range. We could have gotten electrocuted all these years! Omg! David fixed things up and now we have a new 240V outlet and no live wires just hanging out with their ends taped. Both technicians were courteous, professional and efficient. I liked that they came during their scheduled time window and my husband got a text when they were on their way and he could track their location on his phone. They wore shoe covers in the house as not to dirty the floors. Their price was on the higher end, but we were happy with the whole process from start to finish. I became aware of this company through a Facebook group I'm a member of. Our living room fireplace would ignite anymore, and since it is over 15 years old, it was WAY overdue for maintenance anyway. Not knowing where to turn, I mined my FB contacts for recommendations. Tim was the first to respond to my online query. Further investigation showed that not only are they a family run business, but they also have an online booking system on their website. I absolutely HATE using the phone, so this was an added bonus for me. After booking online, I got an email reply from Jodie, who needed to slot a new time for me, since the one I chose was booked. She was very accomodating to my schedule. Alex showed up promptly at the time I was expecting him. He got to work right away. He put down a drop cloth to protect the area he was working in. He worked very methodically, clearly not his first rodeo. He answered all my questions, and once finished, presented me with a detailed bill of the work performed, and what he recommends in the future should the same problem persist. I'm a firm believer in supporting local,family owned businesses. If the company excels in customer service the way that Tim, Jodie, and Alex demonstrated, then I pass on the recommendations to my friends and family.
