Notice that residents of the Portland and Salem metropolitan areas are reviewing Hobby Lobby in…read moreAlbany, some 15 minutes south of Salem, and that most are content with the store.. Never in my life would I have thought I'd be going to a Hobby Lobby in Albany, Oregon. However, it's the closest one to our area if you look at the store locator. First of all, yes, Hobby Lobby is a Christian run organization but that aspect of it need not hit you over the head. They also have generic "feel good" messages of all types. Some of it can be kitsch and more in tune with a grandmother's style of decking out her house. They have stuff of all types and for just about every indoor type of hobby, as opposed to outdoor ones. What took me there was that they were the only ones who had a frame for an odd size print I had with metric dimensions that needed to be converted into Imperial ones. The customer service is very pleasant throughout the store, with their framing department providing exacting and thorough help, almost as if it was a labor of love. I was really impressed. Hobby Lobby also has specials and discounts on many things, possibly making a needed excursion to Albany cost effective. And, if you haven't been there before, Albany might as well be on a different planet from the city of Portland. Be sure to walk around the entire store. There will be stuff that will be carried in voluminous quantities, stuff that will make you shake your head, and stuff that will make you laugh. Hobby Lobby is in Heritage Mall. It's a small indoor mall just south of the main drag as you come off I-5 at exit 234. What's interesting about it is that the anchors are stores like Target and even this Hobby Lobby. There is a small food court inside and some stand alone merchants you may have never heard of. However, it is interesting because it's not something you're used to seeing if you're used to the 4 major malls around Portland-Vancouver. Hobby Lobby, ordinarily, would garner 3 stars from me. Because of their service, reasonable (enough) pricing, and the extra mile they went in the framing department, they get bumped up to 4 stars. Also, if planning to make the jaunt down south I-5, be sure to check their hours, especially on holidays and religious holidays, since their hours might not be typical retail hours. They are closed on Sundays, and definitely closed on Easter Sunday.

Hobby Lobby - Decorations are all over the place but the music they play made me feel like throwing up so I had to leave.

Veteran Ryan Matteson is top notch with professionalism and superior knowledge in construction in all realms with great communication. I hired Ryan and his team for a new Trex deck, replacing my old dilapidated cedar deck. His team, supervisor Veteran Brian and Will arrived on the scheduled date and found the framing also was rotting and needed a complete rebuild. Ryan was quickly able to accommodate his schedule with a reasonable change order cost and said it would add a few more days. Brian and Will neatly dismantled the deck, and were helpful for me to stack the wood for future projects and firewood. Ryan and Brian framed up and built the new Trex deck with precision, adding two sets of steps on the timely schedule with smiles! I'm so pleased with my new deck, knowing it will last decades because of their professional quality honest hard work. You'll be pleasantly surprised with any project that you hire Matteson Constructing LLC, from beginning to end with a complete cleanup, leaving you with a stunning outcome! They will be building me a new gate next month that's been needed for over a year. I must note too they were always cognizant that my little dog wouldn't escape from the gate as they worked. Thank you! Thank you Ryan, Brian and Will for your awesome service!

We have close friends that have a Palm Harbor Home that they got a year ago. It's a beautiful home and they love it. The service they received was excellent- They referred us to their sales person- Suzi Clapp. Suzi has been amazing in helping us selecting and ordering our new home, she is so knowledgeable, a great communicator plus a very kind and positive person. We are so excited to get our new home!!!

I like their homes, the designs, and some of the stated costs. I bought one, but be warned or wiser than I was.. When it comes time to sign the contracts, they will have added several thousand dollars in charges, and call it their "gold key service", which is basically their way of raising the price without having to tell you upfront the real cost of the home. Also, realize they can take however long they want to actually build your home. They may provide you with a guess but, if it takes them 2 years to complete, you really have no recourse but to just sit and wait, no matter how much that costs you. And just because your home has been constructed, dont be fooled into thinking its almost over...they can also take however long they want to deliver your home....could be months, while it sits completed in a yard waiting, and of course you'll never be provided with ANY updates or commitments of any kind from them regarding when you're new home will arrive and how many months it will take them to complete the on site work once your home finally does arrive....again, that can also easily take several more months. If you have any questions or problems, or request any kind of commitment you wont get it, and you'll often hear no response or someone telling you...um no, you need to contact this person or that department, I dont handle that. Had I to do it all over again, I probably wouldn't use them...its just not worth dealing with a company that operates like its the 1800's....there are so many other manufacturers that actually do a much better and more responsible job. My home has been sitting for well over 5 weeks, after being delivered, with absolutely nothing being done to complete it, and I have not received any response or reply to countless emails and phone calls.
