Frame Destination had always been my go-to framing company because they promptly replaced anything damaged in transit and generally offered great service. However, during my most recent order--placed about a week before Black Friday--I was told via chat that they would honor the Black Friday discount as long as it fell within a week. When Black Friday arrived and I requested the price match, they refused to honor it. I ordered 28 metal frames from Frame Destination. While the quality of the frames was very good, the way they were packaged was amateurish. Instead of individually wrapping all four sides of one frame so that it arrived as a unit, all the metal frames sides were wrapped with frame sides of the same size. So for example, many of the frame sides that were 16" were wrapped in one bundle. Another bundle had many 18" sides. And some of the frame sides were odd numbers with fractions of an inch. It will be a significant challenge to assemble the frames. read more

May 8th I ordered 3 modest-sized frames (2 metal, 1 wood), each with uv plexi, two with mats, and spacers for one frame. Having not heard from them, I emailed on the 19th (11 days after ordering) asking for an eta, and am told my order's delayed as one frame and the plexi is on order and expected "within the next week." May 22 I had not heard anything. I again emailed, because I hadn't expected the delay so long and was going to be away on vacation the first week of June. 'I don't know how you ship or when but I wanted to make sure it didn't arrive when I was out of town'. They replied that they were still waiting on the plexi and it's due to "come in Tuesday," and they'll make sure not to ship it out when I'll be out of town. All very friendly and nice. June 7, I return from vacation and no word. I emailed again asking the status? They responded that "the material has not arrived, ... it will not be here until the end of the month." At no time had I received any update on my order until I contacted them (and I think I was being pretty patient). My final response: "I'd like to cancel my order and be refunded. This has taken entirely too long and I've never been notified about delays until after I inquire. Thank You." I'm now told it will take 5 to 7 business days to get a refund. ... really? I didn't inquire back and have not yet gotten refunded. (It's only been two days...) All the emails were polite and professional, but I received unreliable service (well, I didn't really receive any service, just responses, but they did take my order). p.s.; I may be mistaken but on their website I think it said it'll ship in 7-10 days? UPDATE: Was emailed 5 days later 06/13 and told they were unable to issue a refund to the card as it was declined (my card is fine and is the same one I use daily). I am initiating a dispute on the charge with my bank now. Needless to say I think one should AVOID THIS BUISNESS. read more

I had to come an give Frame Destination a 5 star review because they really impressed me with their customer service and how quickly they fixed my order. I had to reach out to customer service due to an error I made in my order myself and they answered me so quickly and had new glass shipped out to me as quickly as possible. Each time I had a delivery from them the glass came packaged extremely well with enough room and packing supplies that I knew it wouldn't break on the way. Compared to taking your art to a framing shop, this is a great value, high quality frames but you just have to put the art in yourself. I just framed 9 large prints for my home and appreciated the selection and speed of order completion. My local frame shop would have cost triple. Never in my life have I struggled more with getting a picture in a frame. What should be a 5 minute job turned into 20 because of the terrible "clips" design. The instructions say to "use a screwdriver or an awl" like what? Who needs to use an AWL to take off a frame backing? Seriously terrible design, it's like it wasn't even user tested. read more

UPDATE: The frame is really great quality. It's floater frame F306. The silver is more gold than silver so be aware of that if you buy it. The gap around the frame is 1/2" and if you choose stretcher frame S110 be aware it's not flush with the frame so connecting it to floater frame not easy. What I did was put frame on a coffee table so the ends hung over but not the sides then I positioned artwork (that I already put on the stretcher frame) in the frame and I laid on the floor and looked underneath and marked where the edges of the stretcher frame lined up with floater frame. Then I laid the artwork and frame flipped over onto its front side. I screwed the clips that hold the frames together onto the stretcher frame with the edge of clip lined up with the line I drew on the stretcher frame. If you put the end clip on first it helps because then you can position the frame on its end leaning up against the wall and the stretcher frame won't slip down. I Screwed all other clips in lined up with the guide line I made. read more

I found these guys online while searching for custom mats with multiple openings. They delivered beyond my expectations. Super fast service! I ordered on Monday evening at around 7:30pm their time, had a shipping confirmation email by noon on Tuesday and they arrived in California on Friday by 2:30pm. Granted I paid a $25 rush fee but I stuck with ground shipping so I am still very impressed with a little under 4 day turnaround from order to delivery. On top of that the mats were cut perfectly and absolutely look great! I am still waiting on the frames I ordered from amazon. I have used Frame Destination for 4 projects now. I mostly make my own frames so I have purchased glass, mats, and backboard from them. Since I tend to already have a frame to fill, the dimensions need to be precise. I found that FD is always right on the money - I really can't even detect any small variation from what I specified. I like the tool on their website that allows you to construct your art stackup, and see what it looks like. Also if you have questions, their chat feature works well. Someone responds quickly and knowledgably. If you are going to use them repeatedly, I recommend getting a set of their mat samples - I got around 120 samples and I think it was only about $30. I would not trust the colors you see for selection, as different monitors show colors differently. Their packaging is outstanding - I have not had any damage. And get this - for the last one I had the unopened box standing on end in my study. In the dark, I managed to not only knock it over, but to land my foot directly on it (I weigh 200 lbs.). My order arrived 5 months ago. It took that long and for me to leave a nasty message saying I would report the charges to my credit card company to finally get a call back or an email. They claim they called me and left emails but directly state in email that they cannot locate their correspondence trail . I have, in the past, ordered metal frames from a half dozen other companies and hands down, Frame Destination is the BEST in terms of quality, customer service, shipment, and cost that I have experienced to date. I was absolutely impressed with the fact that they delivered me glass with an 18x24 frame where nearly all other companies will only sell frames 16x20 and up with acrylic. I placed the order and on the same day the order was shipped. Upon receipt just a couple of days later, the packaging was A+ (no scratches or damages). The contents were pristine and the frames were assembled nicely. Another plus was the glass was crystal clear. Great company. The frames are very good quality at a fair price, and the service is great. The first set of frames I ordered arrived on time, packaged extremely well to avoid damage. A couple of pieces of glass had nicks around the corners; I contacted the vendor and they immediately shipped replacement glass; all they asked was a photo of the damaged glass. When I ordered more frames a few days back, I had some trouble with the website (it was saying that a required field had not been filled out, which it clearly had). After a few emails with the company, someone there *actually called me* and took my order over the phone. I ordered the ready-made frames. They are well-constructed. Everything is held together by sturdy setscrew-based metal pieces. Opening the frame to insert a photo requires unscrewing just two screws and takes only a couple of minutes. The wire hangers run in tracks on the back, so they are adjustable once the wire is strung to control the height if you want to align multiple frames. Definitely no need to look anywhere else. read more

I needed a non-standard sized frame for a gift and could not find anything the right size in the frame and craft stores. I thought that I would just have to give the gift unframed because I could not afford to pay a couple of hundred dollars to have the gift professionally framed. Through an internet search I found "Frame Destination" and all of the reviews of that company here on Yelp were so positive that I decided to give them a try. Add my voice to those singing the praises of "Frame Destination". They are great! For about the same price I would pay in a craft store for a mass-produced frame, I was able to order a custom-made real wood frame (as opposed to plastic like the craft stores sell) with real glass (as opposed to acrylic). The price I paid included a sturdy piece of foamboard for mounting my artwork and the points were sturdy and placed exactly where I ordered them--unlike those in mass-produced frames. Having paid for custom framing before, I know that this frame would easily have cost at least 4 - 5 times what I paid Frame Destination.
