They were overly insistent, even yelling at my brother over the fence in the back yard to get his attention, and it soon became apparent that they wanted to do our job a day early because they had booked a more lucrative job into the time slot that had originally been reserved for us. I texted Danny, the leader of these renegades, who basically told me that if they couldn't do the job a day earlier, then they would not be doing the job at all. I tried to reason with him, but he simply stopped responding to my texts. Why couldn't he have just been honest with us in the first place and told us that they had given our scheduled time slot to someone else and needed to reschedule instead of trying to saddle us with the lie that they happened to be in the neighborhood and working two houses down from us, which wasn't true?
