I love this Cafe and bakery! My last stop there I got a couple pieces of cake and iced coffee, and my daughter had the peach tea. Delicious! I haven't tried it yet but the chicken salad looks fantastic. The building has a lot of character so it's a really fun place to visit. The staff is very helpful and friendly. It's worth traveling to here from any of the surrounding cities, or even going out of your way if you're on your way to some other destination. read more

If you are traveling through Union Springs you MUST stop at this bakery. Its a quaintly decorated little shop with 10 or more cakes and sweets of every variety. The banana pudding cake is my favorite, but the brownies (with or without nuts) are the best brownies I've ever eaten. Somehow the exterior is crunchy but the inside is moist and melts in your mouth. Also the lemon squares are creamy and delicious. This bakery rivals Edgars Bakery in Birmingham, but the prices are great. A must try! Oh and you can get a limited, but great lunch. read more

The FPH Bakery cafe / bistro is a special find in east central Alabama. * It is an easy less than one hour drive on country roads from Auburn or Montgomery or Columbus. * The service was excellent- prompt, efficient, and friendly. * It is a bakery first and foremost, so lunch options are somewhat limited but the menu varies by the day which makes it special. Chicken salad is excellent. The BLT is outstanding. And there is ample sweet tea. * There are many dessert options ranging from large slices of freshly baked cakes, tarts, lemon bar pies, and more. Introduced to this truly exceptional bakery by dear friends who live locally. The storefront has tastefully redeemed an old one in downtown Union Springs. The inside is impeccable French Country...with an undeniable personal touch. The bakery provides visual masterpieces, only to be exceeded by their taste! We weren't able to have lunch with them, but were assured that disappointment is never to be had here! As to the bakery, my wife comes from a lineage of great poundcake;she conceded her defeat. We may he an hour away but we shall return and cannot more strongly recommend you please do the same. To be clear, a cake fit for Mom's Sunday table or a most elegant occasion, we intend to order by phone, enjoy the country drive over, and set it in a strongbox, well-guarded! Eric Bern, my Bearded Pickle Farmer from Bern Farms, has posted many times about a friend's bakery in Union Springs. FPH Bakery is owned by Amber Anderson and in addition to baking cakes, Amber serves lunch on selected days featuring her signature Chicken Salad. On Fridays she will make hot pasta and soup dishes. Mrs. M and I suffered the brief 45 mile drive to Union Springs to celebrate lunch at FPH Bakery. We arrived at 11:30am and got in the short line. We saw the pasta offerings so Mrs. M ordered the Spinach Ravioli and I got Ravioli Primavera... each with bread and a side salad. She also wanted a slice of Caramel Cake and since she won't share cake with me, I got my own. We sat at one of the available tables and waited just a few minutes for our food to be delivered. As an added bonus, lunch was served on real china plates. The Ravioli was covered in a cheese sauce and had a great taste. The Briannas Vinaigrette which covered the salad was light and tasty. I used my bread to sop up stray vinaigrette. After finishing the main course, we went for the Caramel Cake. It was light with lots of creamy icing. Overall, we really enjoyed our lunch and plan to return for Chicken Salad. We would have gotten a to-go order of Chicken Salad but by the time we finished cake, the line was out the door. This is a popular lunch spot in Union Springs so if you want to get in and get a table, arrive early. I had sent a note to Amber on FB asking about Friday lunch and I took a moment to speak with her and thank her for a great lunch before we headed out. My friend read about this in her TREC magazine so we decided to go. It was quite away but we enjoyed the scenery. The was a short line and we quickly ordered our food. I got a roast beef sandwich and my friend had a vegetable sandwich. They were served on China along with potato chips and some fruit. We also each had a piece a cake which was very big. The tea was served in glass goblets. It was a very enjoyable lunch and a wonderful experience. It is decorated very pretty and we had a nice conversation with Amber, the owner.
