I was passing through Andalusia and kept seeing signs about a Cake House so naturally I had no choice but to stop in and see what this place was about. Very glad that I did. At first it was a bit overwhelming but then I just decided that the choice was not to choose but instead to get like a half dozen different cake slices, a variety of cookies, and of course some cheese straws because I mean...how often do you even see those? You've gotta get em. Everyone was friendly and all the stuff was made in-house, and all of it, I mean all of it was absolutely delicious. Everyone who helped me eat all that cake and all those cookies agreed. Long story short, this is a local business that's doing great work and putting out high quality goods. Dont drive past it. Stop and check them out. read more

Everything was great. I can't imagine not give them a 5-star rating!! I wish they were open on Sunday as we usually drive to the beach on Sunday from Nashville read more

Great cakes and a pie that was still warm from the oven. The lady at the front gave us samples to try that were delicious. The building itself isn't very nice. The staff more than makes up for the lack of any warm and friendly ambiance. read more

Dean's cakes are amazing and they also have some must have cookies and pies. The lady was very pleasant and reminiscent about mom's cakes. It's like visiting grandma and leaving with a bunch of goodies. The facility is clean and well kept. read more

Bought a caramel cake on Sunday from Apple Market in Pensacola. I usually buy the fudge cake but they were out. While the chocolate frosted with yellow cake is my favorite the caramel was really good. Tasted almost like pancakes and syrup. They have so many flavors I wish I could try them all but can only eat so much of a whole cake read more

best place around. we always go out of our way to go there if going to Florida from Tennessee. love the atmosphere with all the ladies singing while they work. i have never had a product that wasn't top notch. as I will be 80 next year I don't travel as much as I did, so I am praying they will begin a shipping program. if you are down that way, it is a must that you stop. read more

The cakes are good, but there is nothing spectacular about them. The strawberry was my favorite.

Learned about this place through an article in Southern Living magazine. This is a long time owned, family business. I get a slice of cake sometimes when I'm passing through the area, the caramel cake is my favorite!Although they do sell cake slices, the cake slices are frozen so they lose some of their freshness. Looking forward to buying a whole, fresh cake sometime. read more

Dean's Cake House - the outside of the building - Bakeries Near Me - Andalusia, Alabama

Best cakes! And cookies! It's like it was made right in ur kitchen! If you haven't already tried them well you should!

Had read about these cakes for the last few years. Southern Living even had an article on them. Bought the Lemon Cheese Cake frozen. It was a disappointment: the cake was dry and without much flavor. The frosting had little real lemon flavor and was gummy. Some lemon zest and fresh lemon juice would have helped. I won't bother with this brand again. read more

overrated.. I used to buy from her many years ago but something has changed. The cakes are dry and the lady who works in there on Saturdays is not friendly at all. read more

Known for the 7 layer cake - it's quite impressive however crunchy overly sweet icing is just not good at all. I like sweet things but this is over the top sweet - hurts your teeth. read more

We bumbled into this Devine bakery quite by chance. We had been riding along from Atlanta in route to Destin counting down the miles. We'd plum run out of things to talk about when we first saw the sign. Quick phone call to confirm they were open and the next thing I know I'm parked in front of a mile high slice of seven layer cake with icing your momma never found out about even as good a cook as she was bless her heart. This cake was phenomenal. Right after that long contented sigh let out after finishing my cake I was waving money around like I never needed it again and bought a whole cake. I had no more gotten my seven layer chocolate cake securely loaded in the car until my wife comes out with an Italian cream cake to go with it. All we did for the next four days was eat cake, shrimp and crab. read more

We always make a stop at Dean's Cake House on our way to the beach. We think their cookies are the best and the cakes are too. I only wish I lived closer or they had mail order. read more

I have been eating Dean's cake since I was a little girl. She makes the best Red Velvet. The only reason it gets a 4 star instead of a 5 star is due to the price increase. Her cakes use to be a little cheaper. I do understand the rising cost but it still makes it where we only buy one for special occasions. She also has an amazing seven layer chocolate cake. YUM! read more

They make a good multi layered cake. It is similar to a Doberge, but kind of dry in comparison.

Dean's used to be the best in town, but their success went to their head. Now instead of continuing the practice of fresh ingredients, which one could definitely taste, they appear to have succumbed to mass generation and the cakes are merely mediocre. Taste like they came from a box. read more

My daughter and I stopped here on our way home to Florida from Texas. These cakes are the best that we have ever had. It was definitely well worth going out of our way to try them. Thank you very much Dean's Cake House for the extra pounds we are gaining! Well worth it. read more
