I'm filing a complaint against FP Property Restoration for filing outrageous insurance claims for unnecessary work totaling around $24k. I have reasonable belief supported by hard evidence that this company has engaged in a fraud scheme to force unnecessary work resulting in higher charges to my insurance company and afflicting personal inconvenience to me and my family. Their unprofessionalism and unnecessary tactics have made working with them impossible.
FP Property Restoration does not follow their own process and procedures published on their website. I was referred to them by Arnold Delagdo, owner of Pronto Service Pros, to help troubleshoot the water leak source in my house. It wasn't fully disclosed to me that Arnold's plumbing and HVAC license is also filed with FP Property Restoration until I made the discovery myself recently.
FP's project manager, Andrew Stevens, called for their dehumidification service even though he could not find mold nor the source of the water leak. Arnold was assisting with finding the water leak source. This dehumidification service required me to find lodging outside of my house for some weeks which left me vulnerable to their scheme. The attached photos show the area affected by the water leak and there were no signs of mold.
Andrew Stevens submitted a ridiculous work project to replace my 2nd floor master bathroom sink & cabinet, flooring, piping between the two floors, ceiling repaint, and remove-replace whole first floor flooring. This project was submitted without finding the water leak source. My rebuttal was replied by Andrew with "don't worry, the insurance will take care of it." This work proposal was changed when the water leak source was discovered by another licensed plumber. Unfortunately, that discovery wasn't made until some of the work was already started.
Andrew insisted that the floor was damaged and that we would need the whole first floor replaced. There was one spot in the kitchen area by leaking water drops from the ceiling. The small floor didn't look damaged at all but I allowed them to take off a small section of the flooring to assess the damage. I regrettably told Andrew that I had plenty of flooring saved as spare that can replace the allowable flooring area to be removed. Sure enough, Andrew had enough flooring removed without my knowledge exceeding the amount of spares I had left over. This scheme forced me to clear all the furnishings from the first floor and allow them for removal and replacement. This project exceeded the timeline due to not getting the correct material of my choosing. The flooring remains incomplete due to poor quality. There are many hollow points that they refuse to repair. The agreement was they would install my floor to the same condition and my previous floor never had any hollow points.
There were many suspicious activities throughout my dealing with FP listed in detail in my filing with the BBB and the DBPR. However, what I find to be very unethical is how they handled the work project statement. Andrew Stevens asked me to sign the work project which I did in front of him. I expected him to sign off on his part of the agreement but instead he left with it and said I would get my signed copy. That didn't occur for two months until I insisted on a signed copy of the work project because I wanted to know all the details they were passing onto my insurance company. I finally received my signed copy and the name of the person on behalf of FP Property Restoration was suspicious since I had never met or seen his name on any of my extensive communication with FP. The VP of Operations, Vitto Scialdone, did not know who the signatured person was. Vitto claimed he's the only licensed contractor for the company which explains why Andrew couldn't sign it. This issue remains unsettled as the President rescinded his offer when the work to correct the problem exceeded his original cost estimation. I'm filing a lawsuit against this company and raising this issue publicly. Find more details about this review on the BBB website. read more
