Had a really bad experience buying a used shotgun. Got the gun home and took it apart to give it a cleaning only to find a lot of rust, dirt, and debris inside. My bad for not insisting that they disassemble the gun to inspect before buying. But after trying to work with them for a solution, I feel shamed for not doing my due diligence. I told them that I did not want to keep the gun. They initially offered me $175 back for the gun (that was $270 paid days earlier) and I was considering taking the loss as a lesson learned. Then they offered 50% off gun smithing to refurbish the gun, but when I again said that I didn't want to keep the gun, they said they didn't like my attitude and would not buy the gun back. That statement was made with quite a bit of attitude. I really didn't have an attitude until then. I told them that they had a poor business model if novice buyers unwittingly buy used guns that need to be refurbished. I was then told to leave and not ever come back. Not a problem. While it may be a great place to shoot with a helpful staff ... do not use their FFL Services when purchasing guns from 3rd parties. I was charged $195! I was literally speechless. My regular FFL would have charged $75 for the 3 guns. Really clean range. HUGE retail area. I've shot here with a friend a few times and come back for specialty nights recently when they have a steel setup, etc. the staff is friendly and they have a nice setup for hanging out or watching the range with tables and hand washing station, etc. My only complaint is that it isn't closer to me! read more

I've been coming to Fox Valley Shooting Range since they opened. I have the unlimited use range pass. Range time can be reserved if you have one. The range is extremely well maintained and clean. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The prices for ammo and guns is competitive. Range safety is monitored and improper firearm handling is addressed by courteous range officers. Coffee and bottled water can be had for a small donation. I am an NRA life member, certified firearms CCW Instructor, and have shot competitions at the national level. Fox Valley offers different types of instruction and safety classes. Sign up for the email list to get heads up on classes and sales. Go to the website for annual pass pricing and other information. I like going during late afternoon between 2-4pm M-F for less people at the range. I'd highly recommend Fox Valley for all of your shooting Range needs, including ammunition, new and used firearms, personal instruction and a gun rental if you want to shoot something different. read more

Gun shops can be a bit much with puffed up employees talking down to the general public, because they know more than you - and I've been to many of these... THIS IS NOT THAT PLACE Coming here was what a gun shop/range is all about. Super nice people helping and treating their customers well. I brought my nieces to the range and it could not have been a better experience for them. I live down by Midway and now regularly make the drive here. This is my first time at this location. It's closer to home. It's cleaned and organized. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They have a large section for ammunition in front. When we got there, all lanes were occupied. We received a pager to wait for our lane. For first time customers, they checked IDs (driver license) and foil card to check the back ground. There are tables and chairs available. Coffee and water bottles also available complimentary for the customers when they are waiting for their range. Range fee is $22 per hour per person, second shooter $10 per hour. Private lane $27, additional shooter $12 per hour (max 4). Gun rental $15 (must buy their ammunition). They have large section of guns for sale. I like this place because their of location, good customer service, and good ventilation. (Good air quality) The restrooms are cleaned. Everyone is so polite and helpful here in comparison to Gats. I really appreciate the patience and understanding the staff here provided. Long story short: I've bought weapons here and the staff are awesome! There is a good reason this place is 5 stars and other places like Maxon has 3.5. The staff are knowledgeable and want to talk to you about weapons. They don't act like you're bothering them at home. I've been shooting a long time and I can't stand the esoteric attitude some shooters have. We should WANT people to join our hobby and clubs. I believe the staff at Fox Valley feel the same. The range is standard but nice and easy to operate. This place is different because of the people rather than the range itself. I'd prolly give it a 2.5 honestly. The range itself was super nice, all updated stuff electronic targets and such... We walked in at 8:01 and somehow the place was booked for an hour already which was super weird... not even sure how thats humanly possible. Lol. To start I gave my gave my CC card (first time here as we normally go to Article II) and I nearly couldnt shoot cause aparently I "have" to have my FOID instead. Kind of odd? Considering to have your CC you have to have your FOID, and your CC is more "powerful" than a FOID showing you've completed courses... so that was already a little odd. The range is all locked off with keycards, so they hold your IDs until your done. - not a big deal some places do... but again not used to having anyone hold my ID so I freaking forgot... then had to drive back when I got home and realized I had their key cards... oh well my bad there. Then we were about to take out my other firearms to shoot and we were swiftly told our time was up... apparently it is only for 1hour? Didn't know that as it is not posted anywhere as such limit on the website or inside the place... nowhere I saw at least... so we had to pack up and leave (even though by this time our entire section of like 6 lanes was completely empty.) So a little bummed on the strict 1hour limit... in reality that gives you maybe 30min to shoot as half that time is spent unpacking and reloading stuff. Would have at least thought being it was dead when "our time was up" the guy would have let us stuck around until it got busy again... I mean as an owner that's what Id do... why kick someone out if theres nobody else there waiting? So this was a big bummer... Gun store... expensive. I'm actually Surprised at all the reviews with people purchasing firearms. - Yall over paying. Im talking like a Glock19 is $140 more here than anywhere else. Holy smokes! Employees... everyone seemed okay. The gentleman on the floor was cool as we asked to see a few guns and were showed them and gave us some of his opinions which is always good hearing another persons experiences eith different guns. (But deff don't touch anything freed up on the wall or they'll tell you to not touch wuite quickly. Lol.) So overall if you're looking to pay a little extra, be limited to an hour, have a complimentary water, and shoot at a nice range than come through. Otherwise even though this is super close to me I think I will drive back to Lombard and shoot for as long as I want. Really nice shooting range. Lanes have updated technology for length of targets. Staff is very friendly and ready to assist. If you buy a gun there you get an hour of free shooting. So I've been shooting here about once a week all summer. I've got to know the place very well. I really like this place. It's a family owned business. I know the owners husband and wife and their two sons and daughter in law. Everybody is super nice. The whole staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I bought one used gun and two new guns from these guys. Their prices are reasonable and even though I do buy online; After you figure in shipping and FFL fees they are very competitive. Their prices on ammunition and accessories are reasonable as well. Unlike some places around here. Places The ranges are nice. Place is clean and organized. They seem to have more lady shooters here which is refreshing. This is a pretty classy place as shooting ranges go. I wish I could give them 5 1/2 stars. read more

Im giving 2 stars because the store layout is nice and clean, product options are decent and they have a nice range. However they could do better with customer service. My brother and I came in to browse, it was his first time and ive been here several times before. We headed over to the back of the store where they display their firearms. Im familiar with the no touch policy but my brother did not see their posted signs. For context when you enter this area there is a long wall on your right were they display semiauto rifles and we made our way to the end, slowly, until we stood infront of the lever actions. This is were the store attendant stood. Not once did he ask if we needed help or approached us. Wasn't until my brother reach out to touch the rifle and he immediately called out with his disdain. My brother apologized several times and he never once acknowledged those apologies. He asked if we had our foids but at this point we didn't care to view anything based on his reaction. Moments later his colleague came passing through and he couldn't wait to talk about the incident. So while we were still a few feet away they began to mock my brother and talk about other instances this had happen. Calling out how stupid customers are for not seeing their posted signs first. If its a constant issue how your doing this isnt working. Also talk shit when the customer leaves not within ear shot. Again Im a regular, they dont always have an attendant in this area to help. I over heard them say its dangerous to grab a gun off the wall because somone could have a round in their pocket and cause havoc. Customers are strangers and they dont trust them. Either change your display style or have someone there 100% of the time who takes the time to make the customer feel welcome and explain your rules. I doubt I will be back to spend my money here. read more

I came here with my wife. This was the first time for both of us, as far as holding and shooting a handgun. We were greeted by Brant and we felt comfortable immediately. Brant spent about 20 minutes with us, to make sure that we knew all safety procedures and to make us more assured. We then went to the range and had an instructor showing us everything and staying close by. He could tell we had no idea of what to expect. We had a great time and we will be back. read more

Have now been here several times, currently my favorite range and gun store. It's a 45 minute drive but well worth the trip even with an number of Shoot Point Blank ranges closer. Had the chance to use the "suites" several times, which is my favorite feature of the range. Also figured out you can make offers on the used firearms, saved almost $50 off asking price. Would give zero stars if possible. Had a firearm shipped there and the mags were above the limit. I am law enforcement and able to own the magazines that the gun came with, but they refused to give them to me. I called the firearm company and told them and then Fox Valley agreed to give me the magazines. I called and asked if my background went through and if I could pick up the firearm and they stated i could. Then I drive 1hr 20min round trip and when I arrive Fox Valley states they are sending the firearms and magazines back to the manufacturer. They blamed me for having their dealer status pulled from them because they were going behind the gun company's wishes to serve law enforcement. Fox Valley says they support law enforcement but that is a lie. Fox Valley obviously doesn't support the ban on guns and magazine, but ironically feels they should have the power to dictate who can own the weapons and magazine regardless of the legality for law enforcement to own them. Seems like they blame law enforcement since they will not serve them the products that they can legally own. Avoid at all costs, especially avoid if you are law enforcement. read more

One of the best ranges in the Metro Chicago area. Located in the western suburbs, Fox Valley Shooting range is a great place for beginner shooters to advanced individuals. The range is clean and the range officers are all about safety. They also offer a number of classes which are taught by very experienced instructors. All whom are willing to answers your questions. I just bought a few firearms earlier this year from gat guns. Wanted to explore my options and pop in to see what they had in stock as well as visit the range. I was pretty impressed at their selection of sale/rental firearms. The guy who helped me get setup for the range was really awesome. He even came back and returned a magazine that I had left behind after being in the wrong lane. I will definitely be back to visit range and make future firearm purchases. I would never go back here. We purchased a gun with a 20 round mag, which is illegal in IL. Per the advice of the store employee, we could ship the magazines out of state (to then be sent to us) for $45. I specifically asked if the magazines would be shipped before we picked it up and the store employee said no. Definitely not. The next day we called to say we no longer wanted the gun. We were ill-advised on what was available to purchase as far as legal magazine capacities and called the gun manufacturer to find out. So we told FVSR that we'd come in and select a new gun, which we did (and placed it on hold). Next thing we know is the magazines that were not supposed to be shipped were in fact shipped and arrived at a friend. She did return to sender knowing it was not supposed to be shipped and then USPS lost it. It has been looping throughout the US for over a month now. We've been calling and dealing with USPS and keeping the range updated. Remember, these are magazines that cannot be sold in IL. I spoke to the owner and he blamed us for this mess. He said he shipped the magazines, it was paid for, etc. I told him what his employee said and he stood by his remarks and blamed us. He did say his employee mis spoke but still blamed us. He complained how he had money tied up in this and we could not get our money back or the gun exchanged until we had the magazines back. Customer service here is non existent. We ended up taking the original gun with no magazines, and contacted the manufacturer. We informed them of this circus and fortunately they have a promotion going on and are sending us 3 free 10-capacity magazines. We will never go back to FVSR. There are better places in the area who take care of their customers. read more

Super clean and updated interior. There's always a range officer making sure everyone is safe and following the regulations. Lanes have digital displays when Gat Guns and Ontarget don't. Brand new facility, modern decor, very well thought out, and fantastic indoor range! Firearm, ammo, and optics are basically full MSRP, buyer be informed. In the showroom, there is extensive inventory including some high end offerings from Daniel Defense, Patriot Ordnance Factory, and Devil Dog Arms (new ownership). Compared to other gun ranges in the Fox Valley, this range is not only new and impressive, but the staff is extremely helpful, grateful to see you there, and treats you like a customer. The staff seem to like each other and that translates into their attitude towards you. The range is broken up into two areas: a traditional range layout and two private rooms. The automation of your target is managed by an LCD touch screen that allows for fixed distances. The return feature slows down the target on its way back to you so that it doesn't hit you abruptly in the face. Each shooting station is very well insulated. For the beginning shooter or the shooter that doesn't like to hear the Desert Eagle 50 cal in the next pod, this is great! They have a great lunch special that costs $11 for a 30 minute session. This is my very first time to write an review about this Fox Valley Shooting Range. You will be greeted by the receptionist the moment you walk into the range. They have large selection of ammunition and guns. If it's your first time here, expect to fill out the waiver (it is common at pretty much all shooting ranges). The price is comparable with others, $22 for the first person and $10 for the second person. However on Friday after 4:00pm, the second person is free, and they called it "Dating Night." It's brand new range and there are free refreshments while you are waiting for the range. Staff are friendly and well respected people. There is a small sink right at the coffee counter and it is very convenience for you to wash your hands after shooting, instead of walking around the building to go to the washroom. Their washroom was clean and no odor at the time I was there. I will definitely to spread the word to friends and will come back to shoot again in the future. read more
