I had no intention of writing another review of Fox's coverage of the U.S. Open this year from Pebble Beach! I just can't take it however. I can't sit here and endure this any longer. I had to either update my review, or shoot myself. Obviously I chose to update my review. I can NOT fathom how FOX can miss the mark as much as they are when they have such great examples (NBC and CBS) to follow. FOX SPORTS - don't try to re-invent the wheel. Just do what NBC and CBS have done for decades! I am trying to not be insulted by how lacking in passion and commitment your coverage is. Hopefully there is no one out there watching golf for the 1st time on your network. If so, I am confident they will NEVER watch golf again. And why should they? I LOVE watching golf and after enduring your woeful coverage AGAIN, even I am thinking of never watching golf again. Fortunately I know that future golf tournaments will be covered by the other networks once again. The ONLY good thing about watching golf on FOX is they have commercial breaks!! YAY FOR COMMERCIALS!! I'm not talking Super Bowl quality commercials. These are just your everyday, run of the mill commercials. But by comparison to the golf coverage, the commercials actually seem like top of the line, award-winning commercials. Heck, after watching golf on FOX, I am actually looking forward to Monday when I go back to work!! You're probably asking yourself, "Why don't you just turn the channel?" Fair enough....the answer? I want to see the drama of who is going to win this tournament as it plays out in front of me. There is drama anytime golfers are playing in a "major". Also, there is no other course in the world like Pebble Beach. Therefore, I am plodding through the broadcast, trying to ignore the inept coverage, embracing the commercials, just so I can witness the ups and downs of the golfers trying to win one of golf's most coveted trophies. I am also finding solace in the fact that in just a couple of hours FOX's golf coverage will be over - at least for another year! read more
