It was announced not too long ago that Attack of the Show and X-Play, G4's two signature and…read moreoriginal, will be ending their runs at the end of year (2012). NBCUniversal has announced that they will be rebranding the network and killing of the networks two big shows is a sign that G4 (as we know it) won't be around much longer. The physical building is where all of G4's operations are housed, along with E! Style and other originally owned Comcast networks. They film Attack of the Show along with X-play here. Those shows aren't open to the public and you pretty much have to know someone working on either show to get you invited. Other than that, there are just a bunch of random cubicles, edit bays and offices that is more similar anyone working in a cube-like environment, other than the often gaming inspired decorated cubes that line the area.

I ran into G4 quite by accident on my cable system and was intrigued that something so ridiculously…read moreamateurish could actually be bankrolled by Comcast and gain an actual channel listing, not to mention funding. G4 is/was (mercifully killed last month by Comcast) a cable channel for gamers offering opinion and insight into the new hardware and software of the moment. This was an offering full of digital earnestness as the male hosts were all bald with thick rimmed glasses (a classic techno-geek tell) and the women were all very loud goths. There are high school AV squads who would never tolerate such stereotyping and unprofessionalism. Audiences were intolerant as well as the channel was habitually mired in last place among the 200+ channels measured by Nielsen drawing 1,000 viewers per hour in prime time. There were probably three times as many viewers watching Romanian table tennis over on the Olympic Channel. I don't believe in euthanasia but Comcast definitely made the right call. Gaming holds no interest for me but I suspect that if you're into Call of Duty inspired slaughter and bloodlust you'd much rather do it than watch three bald idiots talk about it. I'll always be a fan of "what were they thinking" absurdity but you really have to question Comcast's professional judgment for greenlighting this digital roadkill. One anonymous star.

Food Network - Today's breakfast was late, so it was "The Kitchen" that was on for my breakfast viewing.

I still enjoy and…read moreuse many Food Network recipes after selecting the highest rated recipes and then reading through the reviews to see suggested the various suggested tweaks. Robert Irvine's Restaurant Impossible and Dinner Impossible were among my favorites! I've seen every episode of both shows at least once and many episodes over and over! I was beyond thrilled when he worked his magic at "The Main Dish" in Meridianville, AL about 30 miles from our house in 2012. The hubs and I could not wait to visit it after it's makeover! We had a nice time there! The owners, the Tverbergs, sold the restaurant the following year at a profit - that's a score! The Main Dish episode was ranked as high as five of all the Restaurant Impossible episodes. Semi-Homemade Cooking with Sandra Lee was always good for a laugh! Sandra threw what seemed to be random prepackaged ingredients together, and she always seemed 10 sheets to the wind. Here's her Brown Rice with Balsamic and Tarragon recipe's ingredients: 4 c. canned chicken broth, 1 T balsamic vinegar, 2 packages boil-in-a-bag brown rice, 2 springs fresh tarragon. Seriously? I liked Barefoot Contessa despite Ina Garten's slightly snooty attitude, I liked Alton Brown's Good Eats, and I watched Nigella Lawson's shows. I like "Cooking Channel" that is owned by Food Network. I watched "Extra Virgin" with Debi Mazar and "Nadis G's Bitchin' Kitchen" which is the stage name for Nadia Giosia who is an unprofessionally trained celebrity chef and punk rock singer. I liked her black leather jacket! I also enjoyed "Not My Mama's Meal" in which Bobby Deen tweaked his Mom's recipes to make them healthier by reducing both calories and fat. It's always fun to browse the Food Network items for sale at Kohl's. I have a nice large Food Network cutting board and I also have one of their Test Kitchen cookbooks. Thank you, Food Network for inspiring fans for over 30 years!

I filled out a form online and a week later someone called me saying they still had room and tickets. So we showed up, went through security just using my name as the magic word, and got in! Low and behold they take your phones before you go in. Cue devastation. But I just ended up chatting with my friend and taking it all in, trying to ignore my empty pocket and hand. You have to think so much more and harder without your phone! Anyway, we were picked to get the best seats in the house and be the most excited fans to scream and clap and laugh for Bill. So middle center was ours!! After a brief wait and some pumping up from the head senior writer, who was a pure riot btw, we watched a quick montage of what the show was about and past clips and testimonials of how real he is. Then finally the show started! Special guest was Martin Short who is an amazing 69-year-old comedic gem. Loved him! Bill was hilarious as usual and the guests were thought provoking and provocative. Episode 299 I believe? Go watch it and look for me screaming!

What a nice 180 it was when I came to the Late Late Show with James Corden and was greeted with smiles and good attitudes from all the CBS security and employees.
