I brought my 7th and 8th grade students to Appleton for a field trip to finish our first week of school and the good folks at FRKC made the time we were with them incredible. They were flexible in working with us to put together a trip that fit our time constraints. They were even good enough to schedule picture-perfect weather for our day although I'm not sure how they did that. They were all set when we arrived, gave a quick safety talk, and took a group picture before we headed onto the water. The guides were great with those in our group that were apprehensive about kayaking while giving our experienced paddlers the freedom to fully enjoy the river while still making sure the young people were in safe water. Our experienced paddlers were the ones who set the pace for our trip with the guides pointing out things of interest on the shoreline (or the eagles that popped up several times overhead). With the speed of the river that day (it does vary) and the amount of paddling we did, we arrived at our take-out point at just the right time where I bus awaited us. Last minute we decided to do a kayak tour. Then even more last minute we wanted to change the time of our reservation and they were able to accomodate our last minute change of plans. We did the Appleton locks and would say it the locks were worth the price of the tour. We arrived at the first lock and were greeted by the lock tenders. They got us situated by the walm with new ropes. They then lowered the water level. It was the coolest thing. It felt like taking the water out of the bath tub, you were sinking but yet not sinking. Then the lock tender hand cranked open the lock and we were back in the river. There were 4 locks to go through. Then you get to paddle on the river. We were lucky enough to see a bald eagle up close. Our guide was patient and did not rush us as I was taking pictures of the eagle. Our guide pointed out local architecture along our paddle. When we were finished our shuttle bus was waiting for us. They loaded all of the gear and took us back to our vehicles. Overall it was an amaing experience start to finish. If you are looking for a unique kayaking experience this is a MUST try. 5 stars the entire way! read more

I took a 4 hour excursion from Appleton to Kimberly, going through all 4 locks with the Fox River kayak company. The whole experience was Amazing! I am a beginner kayaker, and went and joined a group not knowing anyone. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. The tour guide and driver of th shuttle who also took phenomenal pictures were both Amazing! They were very informative, helpful, and a lot of fun! They posted a lot of awesome pictures of the group and individuals on shore, and throughout the trip. You could get access to the pictures on Facebook for free! The trip was a blast! 5 star rating all around! Beautiful scenery, and educational! even met a new friend to go on more of the tours with! I highly recommend them, and will be back for many more tours with more people who found out and want to experience it! Don't miss out!! read more

My son and I, both adaptive paddlers with muscular dystrophy, enjoyed a great morning on the water with FRKC. We did the Doty Island trip. The guide and helper were very understanding and helpful with our particular circumstances, especially when assisting with our "on-land" challenges. I recommend them to any kayaker young or old, able bodied or differently abled. Their wheelchair, or in my case mobility scooter, accessible shuttle bus was also very much appreciated. They offer a safe and very convenient paddling experience. read more

We did the Fox River Locks paddle with our kids and grandkids and had a great time! The staff was friendly, funny and very knowledgeable about the area! I grew up in the Appleton area but learned so much about the Fox River, the locks and the history of Appleton. Going through the 4 locks was an amazing experience. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to do kayaking in the Appleton area. They will provide everything you need for the trip plus give a fun lesson on how to kayak! read more

Just did the Little Chute Locks tour with my family yesterday - so much fun! Fox River Kayaking Company does a great job making the trip fun, easy and safe. Our guide was awesome and we learned a lot about the locks while enjoying a perfect-weather day and beautiful views along the Fox River. It's a one-way paddle going with the current the whole time, done in 3 hours with about 2 hours total on the water. Highly recommended and we will definitely be checking out other tours they offer. read more

Took a SUP Yoga class with a friend yesterday and had the best time! While we were worried about losing balance and falling in, we were pleasantly surprised by the sturdiness of the boards. The instructor was super friendly and made us feel so welcomed. The ride to and from the location was just as relaxing and fun as the class. Added bonus: the gentleman that joined us to photograph our trip for us! Such an unexpected and awesome surprise! Will definitely be doing this again :) read more

Wonderful experience! We were in good hands. The guides went over safety and tips. They were very friendly and easy-going. He was knowledgeable about the area, including wildlife. The equipment was dependable and sturdy. It was such a relaxing unique experience. Make sure to wear easy dry clothes, bring sunscreen and a head covering, and water. read more

Wonderful afternoon. We were caught up in our guides passion for adventure and being on the water. They were very knowledgeable and instructional so have no fear if you have never kayaked before. Had a wonderful experience! They were prompt and ready for us! The yoga experience was wonderful, boards were sturdy, and was able to move at your pace/comfort level. Best perk was there was a person taking pictures of our excursion that we were able to share and save after the trip. Nice to have those keepsakes! read more
