    Rented this car to head to South Dakota, I was a bit scared of all the negative reviews so I was a bit extra cautious prior and day of picking up the rental. Because we were going on a 7-10 day trip we needed to make sure the vehicle was a 4Runner or similar in size to fit everything. The phone number gets you no where, so I went in person and the attendant assured me we would receive a 4Runner if not a Jeep model. Day of- I recorded a video of the vehicle at pick up and notified the attendant of any scratches or marks on the car prior to leaving the lot. Super quick, no hassle whatsoever. Car had a full tank of gas and was very clean. During- The car was wonderful, held up very well for the long drive and thankfully as we got closer to South Dakota the gas became cheaper! Returning- We made sure the car was washed and clean of any belongings or snacks from the road. Had no issue with drop off and did not have any "fees" added afterwards.

    I was in a pinch, and needed to rent a car for a few days, and this place had the best rates. Picking up the car was quick and easy, and they gave me a very nice Hyundai, 4 doors, very good on gas. Friendly service at the counter and where the car was at. Returning the car was just as seamless, I had a really good experience here!!

    Booked our reservation through priceline where we found an affordable deal. Only problem was that we had to go all the way to the nearest airport to pick up the rental - 3 stars for the inconvenience BUT 5 stars for friendly service, efficiency and the full size SUV we chose was immaculate and gave us NO ISSUES. Would definitely rent from FOX again. "Thank You".

    Great location and easy to get to from BART or arrivals (shuttle @ 3D). Outstanding customer service. Thank you Harmony for taking good care of Fox clients, professional, detailed and clear explanation of the insurance needs and proposing a substitute car. The only problem I ran into is that the requested vehicle was not available. Had to wait for two hours and finally got what I wanted + a bonus tank of gas on the house. Thanks Dana! It's ok, there's always a roadblock on the way to happiness.

    I was very much shocked to see these low ratings from many as I had nothing but good things to say about this car rental company from reserving a vehicle on one of the travel sites to getting there in the airport shuttle to checking in with them once we got to the check in counter to picking up the car and drive away from the lot and returning it at the end of the trip. When I reserved it, the type of car was specified as Jeep Grand Cherokee. When we got there, the lady said she'd give us Wrangler Rubicon which was quite shocking to us (in a way, it was a better option.) The whole check in process was about 10 minutes. The check in lady's eloquent speech and responses to my questions didn't have ANY gray area in any way; her transparency was everywhere in what she said. No hidden charges, no nothing. Walking to the lot where our car was located was only a short walk from the check in counter. The guy at the lot was also kind and above and beyond. He walked us through the process to ensure that we weren't left with any issues and/or questions. Upon completion of our trip, we came back to the same lot. There was a different attendant then but this lady was also pleasant to us and didn't give us any trouble. Since I bought a full tank of gas from Fox upon checking in (at a cheaper rate than major gas stations in the vicinity) I was able to return it with only 1/5 of gas left in it. And of course, there was no issue with that upon dropping it off. The whole Oakland Airport is so clean and this car rental facility is simply an extension of it when it comes to its cleanliness (even though the facility is at least several miles away from the airport.) I absolutely have nothing negative to say about last week's car rental experience. I will utilize them again in the future for sure.

    I'm speechless at the moment. After getting in a car accident I needed a rental to get to and from work. Renting the car was easy and no complaints at the time. I would have been a return customer but never again after seeing a charge of $305 on top of the original amount I paid for supposedly smoking in the car and dog hairs. I do not and would never smoke in the car. It was stated in the contract which of course why would I smoke in the car and get charged. Then they proceeded to send me two photos of "dog hairs" in which I don't even have a dog. Yea thanks Fox for nothing. Ridiculous those hair could be from the ground since this week has been raining.

    Excellent customer service from CHARNIKA. She was great and patient nice lady! CHARNIKA made the transaction very smooth and able to get me a car cause I came an hour early. She took care of me and helped me try to save money and gave me a lot of information about the tolls. Thank you so much CHARNIKA!! The Jeep Cherokee was amazing driving car and handled the rain road well! It's super big and very roomy. It made me thinking of trading my car for the Jeep. SUPER CLEAN! It looked brand new inside and outside. Patricia was super nice and patient as well! I came to drop it off at 6am in the morning. She was opening up and fill out the paperwork for my car transaction to be finished. It was very fast and smooth transaction. No hidden fees and I did get the receipt through email. Thank you so much Patricia for understanding and being patient! My sister accidentally drove in the return car center and Patricia had to move the car for my sister to get out. I would definitely rent out a car from Fox rental car! I had did the reservation with Samsclub. No issues at all!

She checked my passport--which I have never experienced at other Alamo or Enterprise locations--and claimed that my passport was expired. I told her that my passport doesn't expire for another eight years. Then she said my visa was expired. I told her at least three times that she might not be looking at the correct page and that I could help her find it, but she completely ignored me. After a while, she finally handed my passport back to me and told me to look for it myself. I found the correct page and showed it to her. She impatiently said, "You have too many visas." Later, because I didn't have a flight number, she kept delaying and refusing to rent me a car, even though I had just returned a car to Alamo at OAK without the flight number and showed her the receipt. Her colleague said, "Some international visitors steal cars or damage them, so we introduced this policy in the Bay Area in the past one or two weeks." I asked him to provide written documentation, but he refused, saying: 1. This is an internal document and cannot be shown to customers. 2. This is a Bay Area-only rule, and you won't find it on the official website. If this rule truly exists, why doesn't it appear in the terms and conditions during online reservation? That way, customers wouldn't waste their time coming here for nothing. As for the prejudice against international visitors, I don't believe international customers can take a car onto a plane and fly it back to our home countries. Please do not believe their response telling you to email customer service--I've already emailed them for a week and have received no reply at all.

At least our plain underpowered Hyundai Venue got good gas mileage (not a car I would ever buy after this). It basically did the job, but when I returned the vehicle, I was handed a receipt which I noticed was for almost $60. I was told I agreed to a full tank of gas at $4.99 a gallon. However, I had completely filled the tank up 40 miles prior so I asked if that charge could be removed. I was assured I would be getting an email shortly or a text. They did email me a copy of the bill, but no refund. After I noticed the charge had not been removed for two days. I called Alamo and talked to an operator and they assured me it would be removed. Four days later and the charge is still there so I called again and was once again assured the charge would be removed and two days later it was. Keep in mind that both Alamo, National and other similar car rental agencies give you the option to return the car with a full tank or they will take care of it at two different price ranges. The best option is to return the car with a full tank of gas and make sure you state that during your time at the rental counter or you'll be dealing with this same scenario. I would rent from Alamo again, but I'd get this detail correct in future.

    We had a great experience with National at the Oakland Airport. No checking in at a desk, you just…read morego right to the Emerald Aisle to pick out your car. All the cars have the keys inside. We picked a nice discreet black Ford Escape with California plates. There were a surprising, or maybe not so surprising, number of cars with other state's plates. Since we live in California we didn't want to look like tourists. :) Then you just drive to the exit where everything is done on your phone. Bringing the car back was just as easy, just drive in and you're done. Convenient shuttle comes regularly to take you to and from the airport.

State Farm agent wanted to talk to her but she refused and said she was too busy and she didn't want to talk. I told her if I can talk to the manager- she refused. Thanks to her co worker who helped me get the attention of the manager. If she has problem she should not bring it to work most especially she is dealing with customers. No matter what she should help the customer to the best of her ability. Attention Hertz management check the character/attitude of your customer service staff.

Checked in at the counter, and after running my credit card, they informed me that there weren't any cars available, that it'd hopefully be 60-90 minutes ("or longer"). We were planning on driving to LA, so the delay was pretty significant for us. (ended up hittingt lots of Friday traffic and arrived in LA much later than we'd hoped). Irritating that Thrifty would accept the booking for 2 pm when it didn't have an available car. And I wasn't informed at the counter until the transaction was completed. And no attempt was made to find another car via Hertz, upgrade, etc. And the agent at check in was unintelligible, disinterested, and couldn't care less. (The other agent who gave us the keys 90 min later was much more customer service oriented, briefly apologizing for the wait). While waiting, I called customer service who supposedly booked an available car through Hertz. But at the Hertz counter, the agent shrugged and said she didn't have a car available, either. When I got to the counter the First Gentlemen who helped me was friendly and nice, but directed me to the outside kiosk because I was a "preferred member" and didn't need to wait (even though we had already waited 10-15 minutes). The lady at this kiosk counter was a lot less pleasant and condescending in her communication with us but I've worked in customer service so just brushed it off as her having a bad day. But definitely didn't feel like a "preferred member" in that transaction. We rented the car for 2 weeks for a road trip. I rent cars often, both in the area and when I travel which is fairly often, but have never had an experience returning my car and being charged an obscene amount of money for them to vacuum the car after use. They charged me $250 for "excessive cleaning fees" for a little bit of dirt in the car. I've rented from competitors such as Enterprise and went on camping trips that actually elicited having a lot of dirt in the car from all our gear and was never charged an excessive cleaning fee ever! I called customer service and they were able to reduce the charge by $125. This is better than nothing but I honestly could've gone to the local car wash and vacuumed it for less than $2.00! What a scam. I looked online under reviews and general searches about Avis and Oakland airport Avis came up quite a lot with similar "excessive cleaning" charge claims. They should really be suggested to the better business bureau at this point. Point blank never using this company again or their partners (budget, Payless, etc). This is a terrible company and I will continue to go to Enterpise for all my car rental needs. 0/100 will not recommend to anyone I know.
