I was having a steering problem and an electrical problem with my GMC '97 1500 truck, took it by them, asked them to inspect it, find out what the issues were, and fix it. My electrical problems consisted of gradual battery discharge, and not enough voltage going to the the car, causing startup to fail. I thought it was a bad alternator since I'd just installed a new battery. After dropping my truck off, they took a look at it, and called me back promptly to inform me the problem was due to a bad battery, and told me my idler arm hadn't been tightened properly resulting in loose steering. Jim told me what was wrong, explained the other issues I'd had, tightened the idler arm, and gave me advice regarding my battery, allowing me to save far more money than I'd expected. Fox Automotive is an excellent auto shop. They provide excellent customer service, inform their customers as to what is wrong with a vehicle and why, don't price gouge their clients, and are reliable. I'm definitely going to them for inspections and repairs I can't do myself. read more

Wow - so incredibly pleased. I found Fox. I had a super simple problem and didn't get the run around about all the things that could have been fixed - just a simple, honest answer and solution. Got my car back the same day even though it was obvious they were busy, they even saved me $$ by allowing me to buy a simple part on my own. One word- INTEGRITY! They have my business for life - you should go too. read more

Wow! What service! He was already closed for the day and a Friday no less. I asked if he could do a quick WV Vehicle State Inspection. He opened up shop for one vehicle inspection. Amazing!! read more

Recently found myself towed off the interstate on my way to Arizona from Massachusetts. Looked at a map of the garages in town and was lucky enough to pick this one. The owner, both knowledgeable and kind, squeezed me in to his busy schedule and got me back on the road in no time. My only complaint is that this can't be my regular shop as I now live 2,253 miles away. Highly recommend to any stranded wanderer or otherwise. read more

The owner was amazing! I was traveling from Maine to North Carolina and was having car trouble so I pulled off the nearest exit looking for help. After stopping at two other automotive places, I finally found Fox Automotive who was open and willing to help. The gentleman who helped me was very knowledgeable and kind, he really took the time to understand the trouble and how far I had to drive. He gave me a super amazing deal on what I needed to make it home and wonderful advice. If I was in the area I would recommend this place to all of my friends for all of my automotive needs. Thank you! Ps I made it home with no trouble!! read more

My wife had trouble with her car and had a great experience from Fox. I needed to get my car inspected on a very short deadline and also needed front brakes. From the time I called until the time I picked up my car I received the best care and customer service. I would recommend Fox Automotive to anyone needing car tune ups or repairs. Quick, efficient and estimates are very reasonable, even for the tightest budget. I will be returning to Fox for any future auto work. read more

Excellent service. Friendly and professional . Took care of me last minute on 3 separate occasions and always service with a smile.

Every part of my experience with this business was positive. The owner responded to my email within hours and fit my car in the next day. Mr. Fox was very nice and professional when he broke the news concerning how much money it would take to fix, which definitely made the news easier to swallow. My car was fixed quickly after waiting for parts to be delivered, and he even inspected it at my last minute request. My experience with Fox Automotive was great, and I would definitely use this shop again. read more

If I can't do the work myself, I have found Jim is the most reliable and price worthy person in the area. On more than one occasion I have had short notice issues that needed maintenance attention and he's been more than accommodating to work me on the schedule. And even better, he's perfectly honest up front if he is backed up or has big jobs ahead of you. I recommend Jim to anyone looking for a trustworthy mechanic with the small town feel, but big town knowledge and reliability. Big 5 star review! read more

Highly agree with Dave, Jenna, Spencer & Aaron. Fox Automotive is the most honest repair shop you'll find. Jim is not in it for a fast, dishonest buck - he's in it for the long haul looking to keep his customers happy and keep them coming back. You will not find a more knowledgeable, friendly, fair and honest mechanic. Fox Rocks! read more

Comment from James F. of Fox Automotive is not accurate at all. I am again warning all potential customers not to use this business for your automobile service needs. First of all, $155.82 that included a $10.00 shop supplies to look and provide a estimate for repairs was never agreed upon. Second, I do live in Hagerstown, the sports car is mine, and I don't own a Ford. False acquisitions made by this business confirms that they don't know what they're talking about. Once again I'm warning all potential customers not to use this business for your automobile service needs unless you enjoy surprising charges. read more

Reasonable pricing and great customer service. I wont be going anywhere else for car service. Quick service and quick response to any questions. I received a quote for service and ended up paying less. I have never had that happen anywhere else. I will be sending my friends and family there with no hesitation. read more

I met Jim through a friend, and came to know he had just opened up his own shop, after many, many years of working for other folks. Since I distrust most mechanics, I had started down the path of doing my own auto repairs. But after discussing Jim's outlook on the profession, and how to run a business, I gave him a shot. He's checked over all three of our vehicles, and saved me a bit by recognizing some work the local Nissan dealer should cover under warrantee. I'm a woman, and he did not treat me like an idiot! He's patient at explaining things, and not condescending like I've found some other places. I trust his recommendations, and plan on using him for all our mechanic needs. read more

I believe that Mr. James P. Fox killed my car. Took my car to him in April. Needs a timing belt and new radiator. He replaced the radiator, timing belt, pulleys, and water pump. All was great. In May, my wife took the car on a trip to NY. Leaving NY, in the Holland Tunnel during rush hour, the car started blowing steam and subsequently started to over heat. Limping out of the Holland Tunnel, she pulled to the shoulder and shut the engine off to let it cool down. Again, during a very dangerous rush hour. After it cooled down, she attempted to drive it, again, and again it over heated. Went through this cycle about 5 times and made it to a gas station. She filled the radiator with water and limped to a hotel 5 hours away from home. I drove up and met her in NJ that night. It was definitely leaking coolant. The next day, I had it towed to a local Subaru dealer. They found, and noted on the invoice, that a previous repair was done incorrectly. The fan was hitting the upper radiator hose and slowly wore a hole in it. They fixed it, around $200. Hotel, Repair, Towing, Gas, cost was upwards of $500. Took this the Mr. Fox and he denied that he had caused or had anything to do with the failure. It was obvious to me, and Subaru, that he had caused the problem. The car ran fine for two more months. Now it's overheating, again. Took it to someone else, obviously, and determined that I have a blown head gasket, caused by an over heating event in the last several months. So there it is. read more
