Very disappointing experience. I chose Fox and Ivory for my Wedding day because they're reputable and highly rated, so I believed I was in good hands. Communication was great until there was a problem -- then it became like pulling teeth to get a response. It took multiple emails and leaving voicemails just to get someone to reply after we had missing footage from our film (the first look with my Dad, which is a major moment) and I had asked for a few edits of the most important pictures since there were very few of family. We received our gallery after 6 weeks, which was expected, but many of the photos were a disappointment considering the amount of money we paid. In the very little family photos we have, there are people with eyes closed, caught mid-sentence, or blocked. It felt like there was no planning or intention behind what was captured, and there was no organization of how people were placed. The gallery really lacked variety, and on the day of I had attempted to redirect the photographer multiple times, and he just couldn't understand. It made for an insanely chaotic and stressful day of, which is probably why the gallery turned out the way it did. One bridesmaid had solo photos taken of her SIX times, yet somehow there were no groomsmen-only photos with the groom. My mom -- the mother of the bride -- is barely in any photos. The day itself lacked structure and organization when it came to photos. My wedding coordinator had to step in multiple times. The film was the most devestating part. The one moment I truly cared about having on film -- my first look with my dad -- was missing. I wasn't told until after multiple inquiries and almost 3 months after the wedding that the microphones had failed, which is why they decided to just cut it out and not include it in the film. Instead of working with us on a thoughtful fix, they finally located the footage and just slapped on some random music that didn't match the moment at all. It was honestly just sad to see that memory treated so carelessly with no apology at all. One of the owners actually worded it like he did me a favor by saying "I'm happy we were able to get that in your film". Excuse me? I only asked for six photos to be looked at to see if there was a different shot or if they could be fixed , and every time I ask about it -I get ghosted. No updates, no accountability. If you can't find a different shot of the same picture or edit it, just let me know that then instead of leaving me in the dark. The owner was warm and responsive early on, but once something went wrong, that professionalism disappeared. It became clear that once they've been paid, you're no longer a priority. You don't get a second chance at your wedding memories. Although upset, I still was understanding in my initial phone call and follow up emails with Jay. I even reiterated that I know we could not go back and find pictures that were not taken, but if we could just make some adjustments to the existing photos -that would help. I was told that this could absolutely be done, and it still hasn't. Inexcusable. I understand that business owners can't answer emails immediately and things take time, but ghosting for weeks is ridiculous. I only received a vague response after I would call and leave voicemails. If this was something that they truly needed more time to work on, then update me and keep me in the loop while I patiently wait 6 additional weeks and have sent a follow up to touch base. A little communication would have gone a long way here, and that's where everything went wrong. It's the lack of effort to rectify this in a professional and timely manner that I have a big issue with. I have already cautioned against using this company to my engaged friends because of how this matter was handled. *Sharing this experience to warn others because as a bride, it is incredibly difficult to choose a wedding vendor and you should be made to feel like a priority.* read more

In the span of over two years, from the first email to receiving the full gallery, Fox + Ivory was nothing short of incredible and efficient. The team is extremely communicative, friendly, professional, enthusiastic and genuine. Due to the pandemic, we rescheduled our wedding and communicating with Niki made the process smooth and worry-free. We felt extremely lucky to have had Peter & Jay as our photographers. So far my Fiance' and I have only had our engagement photos with Jay from Fox & Ivory, but we are so glad we picked them! Photography for our wedding is really important to both of us, and I am sitting here 6 months out not feeling nervous at all about that part. I can be shy, or very critical of myself, and the photos from Jay and Nima took for our engagement shoot were fabulous. I was praying for just 1-2 good ones we could use and there are so many I absolutely love! The day we shot our photos it was supposed to be in the 40s but of course the weather was 29 degrees with Chicago-style wind. We chose North Avenue Beach for classic Chicago skyline pics and moved to our neighborhood Logan Square, for more pictures. Jay arranged us where the wind worked in our favor for our hair, and kept things quick without our coats on. We were all able to laugh about the crazy weather, and the pictures were so worth it. As they say, engagement shoots allow you to get to know your photographer and relax a bit, and it is 100% true. Not only did we accomplish that, but we have some awesome photos not in wedding clothes that we can use for different things. I was shocked at what we accomplished in 2 hours and Jay had our photos to us in one week to the day. I also bugged him for a few modifications (changing from B&W to color and back to B&W as well as helping me edit a weird makeup issue that I had going on in a pic) and he was quick and willing to help me out! I also am impressed with their pricing, gorgeous website, and the fact that we had four photographers to pick from with their portfolios to look at before hand. Our main photographer was pretty good. I wish I could remember his name, but it escapes me. He was great in our phone call before our wedding. His second photographer on the other hand made it very clear that she did not want to be there. She was as disinterested as a person could possibly be. When we received our photos, we wanted some edits to be made. We were told it would take a few days. It has now taken close to a month to get these edits. When we received the edited pictures, we did not see any noticeable changes. Our first shooter was great, the owner is a wonderful person, but we were generally unhappy with the results of the photos. read more

We had the best experience with Fox + Ivory! Niki was so easy to work with, and when COVID hit, she was extremely helpful in changing our original plans. We took advantage of the mini packages offered because of COVID, and we were excited to still be able to use them on our "mini" big day! Our photographers, Jason and Mike, were easy to work with and very flexible all day. My cat decided to crash our "getting ready" photos and Jason was all for getting a little shoot with him! Our photos are better than we could have ever expected and we have already gotten so many compliments. Carly was our videographer and was very professional and easy to work with. We ended up wanting more time with her and she was more than happy to stay for two more hours. Overall, an amazing company to work with and highly recommend! Our lead photographer Nisa was incredible to work with. I've always felt insecure in front of the camera, but she made me feel so confident and calm that day. I was worried I'd feel like a celebrity with cameras flashing in my face all day, but the Fox + Ivory team must have invisibility cloaks. They discretely captured all of our candid moments and allowed me to feel fully present on my wedding day. Our team of photographers and videographers felt like old friends. Photography was the most important thing to us, so naturally, we searched through a LOT of portfolios of different photographers in the area. From the initial e-mail, Fox + Ivory stood out from all of the other photographers we contacted. Not only was their response time fast, but they were genuinely interested in what we were looking for; they weren't just looking to book another client. We were given 3 available photographers to choose from. We loved Jason's shooting style, and we were able to see a full gallery of his before booking. Throughout the planning process, Fox + Ivory was great with answering all of my questions and staying in touch. I was positive we chose the right photographer based on our week-of phone call. Jason was easy to talk to and I was extremely relieved after we planned out the day. I had a few concerns about timing, and he let me know that there would be no problems--and there weren't. He also let me know that the second photographer would be Mike, one of their lead photographers, which was exciting. The day of, both Jason and Mike were right on time and ready to go. Not only were they great to work with, but we loved having them around throughout the day. They were patient with our (somewhat rowdy) bridal party, had creative ideas, and kept us on schedule. Plus, they were fun! My entire bridal party (especially the bridesmaids...) loved them. :) We received a preview on their blog about a week after our wedding and the entire gallery within a few weeks! We were expecting a few hundred pictures, but we received close to 1000! It was so fun scrolling through our gallery and reliving the day. They truly are storytellers. Jay with Fox + Ivory was the best! My husband and I first met Jay at our engagement shoot in the City and we knew we were in great hands. We received our engagement photos with in a few weeks and we were so happy with how they turned out! During the planning process Jay was always there to answer any questions or give suggestions. On wedding day Jay was amazing. He knew which special photos I wanted to include, and was always game for impromptu photos I thought of. We had a good amount of BM and GM that he was able to get organized and set for many photos in a short amount of time. The best part was the morning after the wedding I woke up to a sweet email from Jay with a lovely note about the day and a few sneak peek photos that we LOVE! We are super happy with Fox + Ivory and their services. Niki is great at quickly replying to e-mails and answering our questions. Jay was our photographer and he captured some really beautiful shots. We loved him! He's very down to earth and makes your feel comfortable. He listened to our requests of having our guests come take a picture with us at our sweetheart table and take night time photos. Our edited pictures came back to us in less than 3 weeks, the teaser in 2. Our video team was also fun. We keep replaying our highlight film over and over. I wish the coverage film was edited a little more or if they captured the guests more instead of just focusing on random awkward oops moments but that's okay. TL;DR: Book Fox + Ivory to shoot your wedding photos, get engagement pics done, have them bring a 2nd photographer for the wedding day Jay with Fox+Ivory shot our wedding this summer, and we couldn't have been happier with him. To start off, he's a super down to earth guy with a great energy - something that is important for someone who's going to be with you all through your wedding day. It also helps that he's an excellent storyteller with a gift for photography. Our wedding photos are so beautiful. I look at them weirdly often. We did an engagement shoot a few months before our wedding, which I would definitely recommend. Not only is it nice to have a set of professional pictures that are a little more casual than your wedding photos, but it really helps you prepare for how the wedding day will go. Doing a trial run before the wedding gives you a feel for the photographer's style, and will help you know what to expect on the big day. We didn't have a wedding planner and had no clue what we were doing, but Jay helped us figure out everything we needed to do to make the wedding day run smoothly. He ensured we made good time with our pre-wedding pictures, and even wrangled our families after the ceremony to get the portraits we wanted. We had him bring an assistant along too, which I'd also recommend. It's a little more expensive, but your pictures really are not the area you want to skimp on for your wedding day. Plus all in all, Fox+Ivory is very affordable compared to many other wedding photographers. Having a 2nd shooter helped capture some amazing shots that might not have been possible otherwise (i.e. my sister wiping away tears as we said our vows!!). Jay followed up with us about a month after the wedding with a blog post and a sneak peek of a number of photos from our wedding. The full gallery was ready about 6-7 weeks after the wedding - which I believe is crazy fast in terms of wedding photos. They looked amazing to boot. The pictures were easily shared with family and friends, and downloadable without a password or encryption. This an underrated and awesome benefit of Fox+Ivory. Some photographers make it really hard to do this. All photographers have different styles, so when you're picking one, make sure to look through their other work and see if you like it. We loved what we saw in Jay's portfolio, and the finished product did not disappoint. HIGHLY recommend!! read more

I am writing this review less than a week after my wedding. We had the privilege of working with Jay for our engagement photos and wedding. Jay is an amazing photographer with an eye for beautiful photographs. We love his photojournalistic and artistic way of taking photos to capture us at our best. Our engagement photos not only included my fiance and I but his two boys. Jay was amazing at making all of us feel comfortable and the pictures are ones we will always cherish. Jay made us feel comfortable from the moment we met him. After seeing his work and talking with him we knew who we was the guy for the job. At our wedding he had an amazing sense of calm. It was truly like our good friend was taking our photos. We felt a great connection with him and we had complete faith that he would tell our story better than we could imagine. After our wedding I sat down to try to begin a thank you to our amazing, talented, and hardworking photographer and he amazed me again by already having an email to me with our blog. Jay has an amazing gift and told our story in a beautiful way. I only have the previews, but am already in love with our photos and can't wait to see the rest. We are in awe of his work. I wanted to update my review as I have just received all the photos from our wedding. Once again the photos are amazing and we got our full album in a timely manner. As I have been sharing photos with family and friends one friend told me she was so impressed with Jay. The Fox + Ivory team has to be hands down the best photographer/videographers in the business. They did full coverage for our wedding (photo and video services) - and we couldn't be happier! We were fortunate to work with a number of folks from their team and, I have to say, it is almost unbelievable that they can have so many talented, genuine, fun, and professional people all in one place. Their process was organic and fun - they made the staged photos enjoyable, and did an exceptional job of capturing all the special, un-staged moments. They did amazing job of preserving all the key parts of our wedding. All of the photos are stunning - our wedding album is full and every page is more beautiful than the last. And the videos - the coverage film is wonderful, and we cannot stop watching the highlight video. The editing and stylistic choices feel so personal to us. It's amazing. Even beyond the wedding day itself, this team lives and breathes weddings. They were happy to offer recommendations for other vendors, were conscious of our schedules for getting planning calls coordinated, and just really understood what our vision was (they even learned how our cultural wedding ceremony would work so that they could best place themselves).
