What you see is what you get, really.
It may be big, but any residual character is left rattling around the chambers and hard to spot. It's the kind of place you've been to a hundred times in a hundred towns.
It's not poor and standards in service and cleanliness are fine, but unless you're here for well-prepared but simple food, as a creature of habit, or to entertain the kids in the toe-curlingy named Fuzzy Ed's, there are better bets for spending your cash.
And yet, amid all that, maybe I'm missing the point as in warmer weather, there's always one or two large groups of friends hanging out in front of the venue. Perhaps it's some kind of hangover from Mere Green's mid-to-late-80s period as a hotspot for Birmingham nightlife. Or perhaps they know they're onto a good thing and I just have unfair expectations - albeit expectations that are met elsewhere in venues not too far away. read more
