They have great bread. If it's the day old bread, it's only $1. They have some cookies, but it's limited. The cookies with almond paste are $4, and it's just not worth it. Only some items have prices, so it's hard to know what they are charging. Make sure to ask so you don't get a rude surprise like we did. There are better bakeries around there. read more

An adjunct to Mykonos restaurant a block away, Fournos offers a wide variety of goodies for dessert and/or take home. We got numerous goodies to last a few days, and they were all excellent. The texture of the shredded dough type baklava didn't hold up after a day, as well as the regular baklava did. Our turnovers (blueberry!) were exquisite, even two days later, the the bottom of the pastry was moist. Pleasantly satisfying finish to our Tarpon Springs visit. read more

I will just say that my friend brought a loaf home, and two of my gluten-avoidance friends saw us munching with such joy, that they torn off a piece to try... and went back for seconds. My favorite is the sesame pretzel. It's a loop loaded with so much sesame. The spinach pie is excellent too, very flakey, loaded with spinach and so huge I couldn't finish one on my own. I have been going to Fournos Bakery for many years. A lot of the bread served at the restaurants in Tarpon Springs come from this very bakery. When we ate at Mykonos restaurant once, I asked where they get their bread from because it was so delicious. They told me it comes from Fournos Bakery. It reminds me so much of the bread that you would find in Greece. I had to stop in so I could bring some home. I initially went there just to buy the bread, but was pleasantly surprised to see that they sell a variety of Greek cookies and other sweets. They do not carry cakes like Hellas but man are their cookies delicious. Some of traditional Greek cookies you may find are Koulourakia, kourambiethes and melomakarona. They sell some cheese pies, turn overs and baklava as well. All are generous portions and taste amazing. Made with fresh ingredients. There is a small shelf where you can pick up a few dry ingredients, honey and oil. There is also a cooler to purchase drinks. Never tried the coffee before, it seems to be just regular coffee. Nothing super fancy but fine with me. There are a few small tables outside and a small one inside. I mostly take my items home. The cookies are sold by weight. Last I went, I bought a large selection of different cookies and some bread. It was very reasonable. The bakery is run by two sisters, they are super sweet. Definitely a small business I will always support. Anytime I go to Tarpon, I make it a point to stop by to get a few things. Even if it's just for the bread. Yum! read more

What an amazing place to stop on our fast trip to Tarpon! Just walking in the we were welcomed and greeted in such a warm way, the lady behind the counter gave our toddler a Greek cookie right away and they were delicious we had to get more for everyone else, the loaves of bread are delicious and huge, and I cannot rave enough about the chocolate baklava and all the other treats we couldn't resist! We decided to take an exit to the little sponge greek town in Florida. They are famous for their sponges but we went early and stores were closed. We found a bakery shop open & a wonderful lady there who was very generous to us! We bought greek coffee cans and supplies for gifts and then hit the bakery side. Everything is freshly made. She is very proud of her goodies. She sent us on our way with fresh breads and cookies and items we purchased. I would def find this small bakery if you come to this beautiful ocean side town. Very special to us. She treated us with kindness and explained everything to us. A win-win. So glad we stopped here! read more

We loved the owner's friendliness as soon as she greeted us! We got a coffee, a freshly baked family bread, a baklava, 2 Koulorakia cookies (1 of which was a sample and she didn't charge for), a bag of orzo and a can of dolmades grape leaves ALL FOR $15! I was offered samples and given a "tour" of goods being offered here. I was informed that all of the bakeries at the Sponge Docks (on Dodecanese) use frozen pastries and that the pastries at Fournos are fresh. It even smells like a real bakery. Eek! While I didn't go to the bakery myself someone bought me a box of Baklava and Katifi which is my favorite. This was the worst I have ever had! I wish my friend would have driven a bit further into the sponge docks to get some of the fabulous baked goods they have there. The recipe for the pastries must be a total different style than any I've ever had before. When I picked up the Katifi (my favorite!) I expected to taste the lovely sweet honey and walnut filling. No! This way not very sweet at all and was actually sour (not spoiled sour, just lemon flavored). Also the mix of nuts had an overwhellimg taste of All Spice which was another thing I didn't like. The Baklava was the same style...too much All Spice and tart lemon and not soaked in honey. Like I said, I've had many, many, Baklava and Katifi in my life and while yes, they all vary a little this was completely different. I even tried to top it with honey myself and still couldn't eat it. I threw the $20 box in the garbage. If you go to Fournos I recommend you ask for a sample before you buy just to make sure it is what you are looking for. read more

This bakery is off the main drag in Tarpon Springs. We came across it after having shrimp at Paul's. I brought home spinach pie, or spanakopita, heated t in the oven for 10 minutes, it was simply the best I've had in the U.S. Also brought for dessert baklava, which also was divine. They also carry herbs and I bought a huge dried bunch of Greek oregano as I use this in all of my Greek food. I've just asked a friend over there to bring more spanakopita for my freezer! read more

We stopped by at Fournos Bakery to find that they not only have authentic Greek bread and cookies but spinakopita and other filled pastries...they also serve coffee and seating inside and outside along the little shops and restaurants. Amazing lady running the place.. very sweet. My wife, my 1 year and a few month toddler came in and she gave us little samples .. all the bakes goodies were very fresh and tasted very clean .. not loaded with sugar and butter .. just like my grandma made it. Everytime we come to tarpon springs, we definately make sure we stop here and make a box of baked goodies. Enjoy!!! Little bakery has a great feel. They also sell other greek food products.
