A very local Greek Bakery that makes me happy every time I walk by. It's the epitome of old world goodness in Small Town Tarpon Springs. Stop in for a coffee, pick up a piece of fresh made baklava or a loaf of bread. Maybe you'll take home some dolomades. What ever you do, you'll know it was baked with love.

Can't come to Tarpon Springs without buying the round, sweet, almond topped bread to bring home. We can't get just the bread, everything is so fresh & delicious. Sweet bread, warm feta bread, fresh baklava, biscotti.... we are bringing two shopping bags home. I've frozen the breads & it holds up well.

My favorite: sesame pretzel

I won't describe how good the bread is. I will just say that my friend brought a loaf home, and two of my gluten-avoidance friends saw us munching with such joy, that they torn off a piece to try... and went back for seconds. My favorite is the sesame pretzel. It's a loop loaded with so much sesame. The spinach pie is excellent too, very flakey, loaded with spinach and so huge I couldn't finish one on my own. Go early for the best selection. In fact, I see bags after bags of loaves by the door. Maybe they are for nearby restaurants?

I have been going to Fournos Bakery for many years. A lot of the bread served at the restaurants in Tarpon Springs come from this very bakery. When we ate at Mykonos restaurant once, I asked where they get their bread from because it was so delicious. They told me it comes from Fournos Bakery. It reminds me so much of the bread that you would find in Greece. I had to stop in so I could bring some home. I initially went there just to buy the bread, but was pleasantly surprised to see that they sell a variety of Greek cookies and other sweets. They do not carry cakes like Hellas but man are their cookies delicious. Some of traditional Greek cookies you may find are Koulourakia, kourambiethes and melomakarona. They sell some cheese pies, turn overs and baklava as well. All are generous portions and taste amazing. Made with fresh ingredients. There is a small shelf where you can pick up a few dry ingredients, honey and oil. There is also a cooler to purchase drinks. Never tried the coffee before, it seems to be just regular coffee. Nothing super fancy but fine with me. There are a few small tables outside and a small one inside. I mostly take my items home. The cookies are sold by weight. Last I went, I bought a large selection of different cookies and some bread. It was very reasonable. The bakery is run by two sisters, they are super sweet. Definitely a small business I will always support. Anytime I go to Tarpon, I make it a point to stop by to get a few things. Even if it's just for the bread. Yum!

Delicious baked goods

What an amazing place to stop on our fast trip to Tarpon! Just walking in the we were welcomed and greeted in such a warm way, the lady behind the counter gave our toddler a Greek cookie right away and they were delicious we had to get more for everyone else, the loaves of bread are delicious and huge, and I cannot rave enough about the chocolate baklava and all the other treats we couldn't resist! Can't wait to come back!

We stopped by here to get some bread for our dinner. It was our first time and did not know what to expect: there were a lot of options on the menu and the prices were very good. The village bread only cost $2. It was absolutely amazing and the taste was very good as well. Highly recommended and the lady working there was pretty nice too!

Pastries!

We decided to take an exit to the little sponge greek town in Florida. They are famous for their sponges but we went early and stores were closed. We found a bakery shop open & a wonderful lady there who was very generous to us! We bought greek coffee cans and supplies for gifts and then hit the bakery side. Everything is freshly made. She is very proud of her goodies. She sent us on our way with fresh breads and cookies and items we purchased. I would def find this small bakery if you come to this beautiful ocean side town. Very special to us. She treated us with kindness and explained everything to us. A win-win. So glad we stopped here!

Absolutely delicious everything we ordered was yummy! Love the fact that it's not on the main drag and definitely more local-based.

They were able to answer all of the questions I had about any of the Greek pastries I haven't heard of. It was very lively in there because it's also connected to a restaurant. They had a variety of pastries. I got the pistachio baklava and the tiramisu pasta. Both were very rich - I don't think I'm a big fan of the flaky bread but anyone who is will appreciate this bakery. The baklava & the other delicacies were good. But none of the ladies behind the counter asked if I was ready to order or even greeted me when i walked up to the counter, especially the two ladies folding the boxes on the counter. I had to get their attention so I can be served. I understand that the other ladies were busy fulfilling orders. Then we came back for lunch after our tour, the place was busy but were seated right away. The music in the background wasn't too loud. For a busy restaurant like that, we got our food in good time. Our server was very attentive & checked on us a couple times if we needed anything else. My pastitsio was good & the fam liked their lamb kebab.

Of course the saganaki and Octopus was the best. We also ordered gyros, pork souvlaki, and a fried cod fish sandwich. My order was the pork souvlaki! It was really good. The tzatiki sauce stood out as different than I have had at other places. Our service was impeccable. Our server was very cheerful. The owner was cheerfully inviting people in for lunch or dinner! He was really nice and funny too. We can't help but be happy that this restaurant is dog friendly, and nicely shaded! Big murals and fake brassy gold items. Our server was ok, seemed a little put off to be working, but no outright issues. The restaurant seemed to fill up more the longer we dined and kept the servers busier. Food was good, portion sizing being the pro here. Meat in my gyro was plentiful. Taste was good too. Other ordered flatbreads and again they filled a whole large plate. Cant say they were the best ingredients, but filled us up. Overall ok experience. Maybe for a more authentic meal try somewhere nearby.

Maybe my image of a small town bakery is too idyllic: I image crusty loaves in baskets and the lovely aroma of fresh breads. Walking in, it's more like a grocery store with some shelves for gourmet food items: jam, pasta, etc., and a large counter for bread. I suppose I forgot that in a small town, they probably don't sell a lot of bread retail - not to mention people nowadays don't get their bread from their local bakery; Publix, Walmart or Panera are more convenient not to mention cheaper. The case, therefore, looks a bit sad with a few loaves forlornly sitting inside, wrapped in plastic bags. Now, I won't give a 3 stars for that. I love small businesses, so sometimes I generously give them 4 stars in hope of bringing it more business. Unfortunately, we can't get over the fact that the lady put down her cat and proceeded to get our cookies without washing her hand first. She did use bakery tissue so she didn't touch the food with her bare hands, but nonetheless, while old lady + cat is charming in most situations, it makes me lose my appetite when food is concerned. I can't help imagining cat fur on my cookies...
