Well, a Typical Saturday Night Out as a group of three but Considering the area we regularly visit, such as Bedford, Biddenham and Northampton. There are many brilliant take aways and restaurants. But this week, we decided on the "Four Pillars Tandoori" in the village of Olney.
At first, it was hard to track down due to all the places looking generically the same. But when we did finally find the restaurant. It looked like a pub. (Which is good to me, as I get the idea of a comfortable dining experience, but im not sure about the thoughts of the other two ladies though).
Then we entered the restaurant with the bartender staring at us strangely. Not sure what that meant but the waiter literally just managed to get to us. But on the other hand, he lead us to the seats without a second thought. We sat down and had our menus handed out to us and we glanced through it. But just a couple of Minutes later the same waiter came over ordering for drinks, meaning that we had to rush for the drinnks menu. But to be honest, we didn't mind considering we were quite thristy in the first place trying to find the restaurant anyways. The waiter took the orders and ran past awkard gaps and past customers who were also calling to take orders but got to the bartender instead, and it almost felt like he forgot us for a sec... until when they suddenly arrive with the drinks after a long time later. The waiter serving the drinks wasn't even paying attention, heck, he was talking to the waiter behind him casually in seemingly indian whilst pouring our drinks and barely responding to us when we said we would rather have it in the bottle. Multi-tasking gets a 3/5, but the service there did not.
And before we finally got a sip after a long wait. We get asked for our orders immediatly. Luckily enough, we knew what we wanted as we chose it during the long waiting period for the drinks to arrive to us.
Starter:
A Sizzler Platter ~ Cant remember it's name, but its found in most indian restaurants anyways,
Main:
I ordered a CTM - Chicken Tikka Masala with Peshwari Naan
Susie ordered a King Prawn Balti with Pilau Rice
Helen ordered a Lamb Bhuna with a Garlic Naan
After giving the order, the waiter just vanishes to no-where.
A chance to finally take a drink and observe the atmosphere. We had the image of a typical restaurant being vibrant and warm. Instead, it felt... somewhat negative. Espically all the staff frowning and particularly the bartender. Let alone, we felt miserable looking at him to be honest...
But then... Hurrah! The waiter popped up with our starter... which appeared not to be sizzling and steaming anymore. But it atleast it meant we get to wipe it off, didn't care it was cold due to the appitite bulid up. But cmon... after all that I did expect more. But we kept our patience and whats left of our palete for the main course.
Sooner or later, we got our main course (After An Hour and 10 Minutes) and the Lamb Bhuna Came cold. Plus the CTM I recieved was too creamy and yet... Spicy? And Ironically the King Prawn Balti's Flavour had died along with our service and experience. I couldn't tolerate this anymore, thus I called the Waiter, which happened to be the same waiter. We complain about all this and he just stares at us blankly... And his excuse? There was no kitchen porter... What is that meant to mean? From my knowledge it means a human dishwasher unless they meant our food was cooked in a dishwasher.
On top of that, finishing the food disdainfully and reluctantly. We wanted a full refund, but the manager, who always happens to be busy at this time although it appeared he was casually ordering around staff. Instead, its our favourite friend of the day which he couldn't comply with our request. Furious at this atrocity of a day. The manager finally comes over and offer drinks due to this. Let alone MOST restaurants would do this AND a full refund.
Extremely Angry, I tried not to make a scene. But im not sure how the other customers would react to this to. So acting as a professional. We left paying the bill... But still... the muscular looking bartender just continued to stare at us creepily.
Walked out of this pub and never want to go back there. Let alone im not sure if the customers there were satisfied.
If I told them I'd be reviewing and a reviewist, they may have treated us like royalty. But, as a reviewist. I'm not. But this what I described there was probably maybe how they treat a group of 3...
Sort it out.
Ratings:
Food: 1/5
Service: 0/5 (would've been 2 to 3, but the bartender... and no refund, thats basic for a restaurant...)
Parking: 3/5
Atmosphere: 2/5
So overall, its 3/10. Which is very low for an Indian Restaurant. Let alone to what it can be compared with.
If I could rate it lower, I would. But that would just be unfair. read more
