My two year old was probably a bit confused about what was going on when we climbed into our safari vehicle, and I'm not sure she was totally on board throughout the ride to be honest. Although we've been to Lincoln Park Zoo, she was very very young at the time and would not remember being this close to an animal that wasn't on the level of a dog, snake, or turtle. So whilst I think being mere feet from giraffes, elephants, and wildebeests was unexpected, she said she enjoyed it. The driver was informative and didn't make the embarrassing jokes that the "captain" of the Jungle Cruise did, for which I'm thankful. In addition to the aforementioned animals, we came across black and white rhinos, lions, hippos, cheetahs, flamingos, and more. The ride was leisurely and comfortable, and there's no height requirement so anyone can ride. This was a lot of fun to start our first visit to Disney World. It's a very popular ride, apparently. 45+ minute wait times are not uncommon. We used a lightning lane to cut through most of it but we did have to wait 10 minutes or so before we got on. I'd definitely recommend lightening lanes for this one!

At check-in, we received a small pretzel and popcorn, but beyond that, there weren't many amenities that justified the cost. It also felt like there were extra fees for everything. We were told there would be a $200 incidental hold, but the front desk initially attempted to charge $300. Thankfully, my daughter noticed, and it was corrected. There is a small water park on the property, but it's nothing particularly impressive. Considering how much guests pay to stay here, I was surprised that parking is not included. We chose not to bring a car and relied on the hotel shuttle, which runs on a limited schedule. Getting to Magic Kingdom was inconvenient--we had to take a bus to EPCOT, then a train, followed by a ferry. On the return, we were told we could skip the ferry, but ended up at the wrong bus depot and missed the last shuttle. Since the park closed at 11 PM, it would have been helpful if transportation ran later. We ultimately had to take an Uber back. Overall, the hotel itself was decent, but for the price point, it doesn't offer enough value. I would not return or recommend it.

This is my second time staying at the Grove resort in Orlando. We had stayed here previously three…read moreyears ago, which prompted us to book the resort again. A lot has changed the second time around. The pros: 1. Close to Orlando theme parks 2. Decent waterpark The cons: 1. Outdated and dirty property (garbage smell and dirty hallways, and elevators) 2. Dirty rooms and broken furniture 3. Poorly equipped rooms- we only had 2 towels and 2 facecloths for a family of 4 that were in the master bath. Second bathroom did not have towels or facecloths (we had to call the front desk for items) 4. The Kitchen was not fully stocked (no pans for oven, no sharp knives for cutting food, and no cutting board) 5. No housekeeping (we were there for 7 nights and not once did they show up). Did not have broom in the room or cleaning supplies. I had to empty all garbages in room the full stay and place bag in hallway. Garbage was only picked up once a day in hallway. There were always garbage bags in the hallway. 6. You are provided with a "starter kit" of supplies (one sponge for dish washing, one small liquid dishwashing soap, one dishwasher pack, one Tide for washing machine. One paper towel, one pack of toilet paper for each bathroom and 1 box of Kleenex for each bathroom). Once supply is depleted, you are responsible for purchasing additional items. 7. The pool area is overcrowded. If you do not get in line at 9:30 AM (pool area opens at 10 AM) you will not get a seat. I found people go to the pool area early (9:30 AM) drop off their stuff for the day and leave area. That means if you don't get there early to scoff up a spot yourself you are left standing. However, you have the option on spending extra money to 2 rent chairs $$ ($69) or a Cabana $$$ ($250) for the day. I had mentioned this to management and they said there is no way of monitoring this. That if I wanted a guarantee area that I would need to reserve/rent chairs or a cabana. 8. Expensive resort fees, daily. They charge resort fees on the day of arrival and departure. 9. Issue encountered with a booked transportation reservation (through resorts concierge) back to resort (from Epcot). Was left in an extremely dangerous situation by the resorts contracted bus driver. Me and my two kids were left stranded at Epcot. He "did not have the time" to take me and my kids back to the Grove (again, this transportation was pre-booked). He asked us to get off the bus at Epcot. He had to go to another resort (me and my two children were the only guests returning to the Grove). Bus driver said he ordered and paid for an Uber for me and my kids to go back to the Grove (all lies, as he did not order us alternate transportation). Tried calling the resort at 10 PM phone rang, selected front desk and was on hold for over 15 minutes. Was not able to get in touch with front desk at resort (no answer), Finally hung up due to frustration. I had to pay out of pocket for an Uber back to the resort.

It doesn't go too fast so no hair trouble (did not even have to remove my hat) or motion sickness. It's a pretty short ride, just long enough for it not to become same old. I had never done this ride here before so imagine my surprise when the line led us inside a building that has an incredible play area for kids in it. You get a buzzer that will go off once it's your turn to go sit in your Dumbo. Brilliant, am I right? It's all incredibly well done. The area is made really fun and my kid was almost disappointed it was our time to go Dumbo. If you're looking for a break from the sunshine and walking, this place has seating and air conditioning.

That was super-short! We did see a male lion pretty close, giraffes, hippos, and a few other animals. But, I expected so much more. Expedition Everest and Avatar Flight of Passage were both really good! Na'vi River Journey was just okay. It was slow-moving ride like Pirates of the Caribbean, but not as good. I think it was actually a little bit too dark inside the ride. The Lion King show was just okay. It did NOT have Broadway-quality singers and performances like in Beauty and the Beast (Hollywood Studios). For me, Animal Kingdom was clearly #4 of the 4 Walt Disney World parks. Overall grade: C+
