Good accommodations overall. Darrell Jackson (resort manager) made a great impression on my wife as he helped her bring up some of our stuff! We have been here before and enjoyed the place we stayed in the Holiday Inn Orange Lake Resort so we tried the waterpark location this time. The building was under some renovation so I'm sure it will be looking great soon. The room was spacious and nice for the 4 of us and the access to the pool area was great. Our last day at orange lake we headed over to river island to sip on some drinks and eat some cheese poolside and just take in the sun before our flight back to cold New England. Stayed here for a mini vacation. This place was located on the resort and I so loved the pool. The pool has many areas to choose from. Thee is a hot tub which was really nice. They have tubes to rent and float on a pat for the pool. You can also walk the pool if you want a little exercise. There is a slide on one side of the pool. The other pool is more of a kiddie pool and also has a net available for pool games. There are plenty of chairs to sit in either side of the pool. There are also cannas to rent out as well. There is a sandy area if you want to feel like you're at the beach. There are bathrooms available. There are bars to order pool side drinks. This place had a lot to do and will keep you busy. Highly recommend if you're staying here to get a cabana! It comes with a ceiling fan and light, a television with cable, a cabinet to keep your belongings and a safe to store your wallet and keys! There's also waitress service so I highly recommend that while you enjoy the lazy river in their heated pools! Highly recommend the lazy river! And if a cabana isn't for you they have beach chairs all over as well as a man made beach area towards the back right corner with sand and hammocks! Super cute! read more

We come here a lot. We love this place. So comfortable. So much to do. The food is good. Great location, and place to stay. The staff is very friendly, accommodating, and very helpful. You get so much more room for the money. The clean pool area, game room with a lot of amenities and close to restaurants and shopping centers. There are two golf courses on the property too. What a fun place to spend our vacation. River island is a lazy river with water slides, pool fun, and tubes to float around in or on. The pool needed a bit of maintenance. There were an awful lot of leaves in the water that didn't belong but the staff is great here. The water slide was fun...even for my old ass that climbed into the tube. The grounds are lovely. It's a very nice place to relax and as I get older, I can see myself enjoying this resort more and more due to the level of relaxation you can find here. read more

I like most of river island at Orange Lake. I give it a 3 star rating because there is not a separate smoking section. Why should I have to inhale that disgusting smoke and my kids breath that crap in? It's easy. Make a designated smoking section. And have your staff enforce the policy. Shame on you Orange Lake. Aside from that the good is very expensive but the pools are fantastic. Kudos to you Orange Lake for asking for I.d. And a member card. I like knowing that the people here either paid to be here or are with someone that did. No strangers just taking advantage of the amenities and causing trouble. This is a great resort water park. Very clean and well designed. It has a natural feel which makes it feel bigger than what it is. The lazy river is a must. I can tune down the lazy river all day. It has a great mixture of sun and shade. The hot tub is a great size for multiple guest. The pool isn't cold for this time of year. They have lots of restaurants and shops to choose from right here. River island is one of the pool areas at orange lake timeshare resort. Nice and there is a lazy river that goes around the entire pool area. I needed area for volleyball in the pool as well as on dryland. Was the full mini golf course and a waterslide that you can go down. There are plenty of palm trees located around the pools and waterfalls. Tear for $50 a day which in my opinion is extremely cheap. Of lounge chairs around the water there are also tables with umbrellas that you can get for the day. There are multiple bars around the pool area where you can order drinks. Cells is very big there are maps located all around the pool showing you where you currently are and how to get to your final destination. River island is there a lot of children here. I know that the proximity to Disney kids are going to be around. Chances are there kids playing with a ball or water toys. In one of the lounge chairs and there were kids screaming and yelling right next to me. Maybe it's me and I'm used to the pools in Las Vegas but I like to relax with my drink. With no screaming. Overall the pool is a great place to come if you have a family with kids. If you are looking for more privacy I do recommend purchasing a cabana for $50. read more

This place is fantastic!!! I love everything about river island, so much to do, it truly feels like a resort in the Caribbean island. Lazy river, shops, and tiki bar with bucket of Bacardi yum!! Restaurant with delicious food and breezes was my favorite especially during happy hour!! It's well maintained and clean. Plenty of lounge chairs and table with umbrellas. I was fascinated with the cabanas with tv, mini frig., and owners designated area was very nice. I was surprised they have seven pools here. We were in the west wing so we drove here, but you can easily walk if your into it. Hammocks area was so soothing. I got information on massages station by the pool. The jacuzzi were clean and the perfect temperature, I definitely enjoyed them. I took several pictures of the amazing waterfall. I making this my favorite place to stay in Florida. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Love love it here!! read more

A great place in Orange Lake to hang out for the day. And free! There are several pools, watersides, and a lazy river that runs throughout the area. Tubes for the lazy river are free. Several restaurants and pool-side bars surround the pool areas. Plenty of chairs. TIP: if you're getting drinks, get the souvenir cup. For alcoholic drinks, the first one is $9 and the refills are $6 for the whole stay. Beers are $8 for the first and then $4 for refills. Sodas are $10 for the first, and free refills for your entire stay. read more

A nice little resort located in west of Disneyworld Resort area. The complex is actually waaaaay in the back of the Holiday Inn Vacation club. The rooms are pretty average and right on par from what you'd expect: everything you might need for an extended stay without being too fancy. The two bedroom suite was spacious, and had a nice view of the pool. Despite the weekend crowd, there was still plenty of parking available, and access to the building was easy. The pool area is the highlight of the resort, with several medium sized areas all joined by a lazy river. There are water slides and splash pads spread throughout the grounds. I was a little disappointed that you had to pay to get a float for the lazy river (they do not allow personal flotation devices...or drinks) but I guess that's one way they suck more money out of you. Things can get very crowded and noisy if the weather is good. There are about 6 hammocks off to one side, but these are perpetually used, so good luck grabbing one. Overall a decent value resort that isn't too far from the theme parks and won't break the bank. read more

River island is a great place to enjoy a water park without the water park prices. It has a lengthy lazy river and two (tunnel style) slides located on opposite ends of the lazy river. They offer floats (at a hefty price) to go along the river and don't bring your own. They will tell you it can't be used. The only ones allowed in are the ones for babies and toddlers with the leg holes in them. There's a fast food style ar a for hamburgers and chicken fingers and a full restaurant to eat in. They usually have entertainment at night and no dress code is necessary. The restaurant offers outdoor seating as well as a full bar. There are two other bars located on the opposite ends of the river but close around five so you're subjected to going to the restaurant for drinks and if your on the other side it can be a little whiles off. There's a gym and an arcade room as well as a Starbucks coffee, shopping and ice cream location. The place is really cool and breaks up the monotony of just one pool places. read more

River Island is the best part of Orange Lake Resort. There is a shop that sells shirts, dresses, pool toys, or sunscreen and that sort of thing. The River Island Grilling Company offers a nice menu. Connected to it is Tradewinds Bar and grill. They have a separate menu, but we accidently ordered off of River Island Grilling Company's menu and it was no problem. We saw others do the same. Miguel tried to tell me that because we ordered from the wrong menu, our food was going to take two hours, but my dad got him back.... he's a great bartender and waited on us 3 or 4 times. There are 2 other small bars in the area, Leeward and Windward bars. Keep your plastic beer cup and refills are only $4. There are 2 18 hole putt putt golf courses, a Waterslide, a Rock Climbing wall, and tubes for the lazy river. They all have a cost associated with them (the tubes are $9/day). But if you buy the play pass and get a wrist band, it allows you to do any of these activities. There are lots of other activities for kids around in the area like arts and crafts facilitated by someone. I didn't pay much attention to them, but one was painting plaster beach things. You do not need a tube to enjoy the lazy river and you can bring your own pool toys like noodles. The shuttle is a good way to get here, the parking lot fills up quick, there is a second parking lot in the back that has an easy entrance near the waterslide and rock wall. read more

Our original reservation was at Mystic Dunes resort, but they were overbooked and booked us at the Orange Lake resort. It was actually better than Mystic Dunes, the condo was very clean, and very secure as no one allowed to enter if the parking plaque was not displayed on the dash. The swimming pool was well organized. There are a couple of items that were disappointing, the breakfast buffet was anemic. There was no mid week cleaning provided. I basically snuck in with some family that was staying at the resort, but I wish I could come to the pool everyday. It's best to arrive earlier in the day to assure chairs for your group, but definitely worth it. The area is clean and overall pleasant. Billed as a "world-class" buffet by the front desk, the breakfast buffet is, at best, comprable to a free continental breakfast found at any chain hotel. This buffet is not even close to "complimentary", with a price tag of about $13 per person. The food was barely warm and we had to wait for several items to be replenished, including the plates. Lazy river is amazing! Great place to hangout with friends and family for free. You can rent tubes for small fee but just was easy to ride the current without. There are small gift shops, restaurants also there so plan on spending the day. Plenty of lounge chairs but not as many umbrellas but plenty of shade to be found. read more
