There is no one walking around taking orders. Towels are free and you don't need your magic band to get towels. There is available seating even during busy spring break. The free refill Machine at Capt. Cook's is very close. There are two lifeguards on duty. There is a beach close by with a shower and sand. Do not go in the water. The water dirty and swimming is prohibited. You will get sick if you swim in the man-made lake.

My daughter enjoyed competing in the 50-meter long course. The water temperature was spot-on and the pool itself was spotless. The whole complex is well maintained with clean restrooms and working drinking fountains. You can tell the staff takes pride in keeping things organized and swimmer-friendly. There's convenient off-street parking all around the facility, and plenty of hotels and restaurants nearby making it perfect for multi-day meets or out-of-town families. It can be a little tricky to find the pool for the first time since it's tucked away off the main road, so don't rely solely on a quick glance at your map. Once you're there, everything's easy to access. We only wish there was a bit more spectator seating. With big events like this, the stands fill up fast. Overall, it's a top-notch swim venue and a great experience for swimmers.

I have always wanted to try surfing at Typhoon Lagoon. For $190 you get 3 hours worth of…read moreinstruction while the park is closed. They spend quite a bit of time going over basic stuff and a waiver. This was my first time at the park but I have surfed in the ocean. I am not a beginner but I am not exactly advanced either. I just wanted constant predictable waves so I can get better. I wish they would separate out those who have been before and know how to surf and we can get started while beginners do their thing. The advanced people can tweak their techniques with the help of the pros while the beginners learn the basics. The wave pool is fresh water so already it is different. Salt water makes the board more buoyant and the bigger waves have more energy. It seems counterintuitive, but is actually easier to surf in the ocean's bigger waves. At Typhoon Lagoon, I fell my first couple times. The instructors said it just takes a couple of tries to get used to the fresh water and they were right. Before you know it, I was easy riding. They provide water, juice, fruit, pastries and coffee. I wish the food included breakfast burritos because for some reason, it is the breakfast of choice for surfers. They provide only a small towel, so I recommend bringing your own. Photos are also included with the price so you get lots of cool looking pro pics, which unfortunately also include wipeouts. The pros from Coco Beach Surf School were great and lots of fun. If I were staying longer at WDW, I would take advantage of this and do it everyday it is offered or get a good group together and have an evening private event.
