My two year old was probably a bit confused about what was going on when we climbed into our safari vehicle, and I'm not sure she was totally on board throughout the ride to be honest. Although we've been to Lincoln Park Zoo, she was very very young at the time and would not remember being this close to an animal that wasn't on the level of a dog, snake, or turtle. So whilst I think being mere feet from giraffes, elephants, and wildebeests was unexpected, she said she enjoyed it. The driver was informative and didn't make the embarrassing jokes that the "captain" of the Jungle Cruise did, for which I'm thankful. In addition to the aforementioned animals, we came across black and white rhinos, lions, hippos, cheetahs, flamingos, and more. The ride was leisurely and comfortable, and there's no height requirement so anyone can ride. This was a lot of fun to start our first visit to Disney World. It's a very popular ride, apparently. 45+ minute wait times are not uncommon. We used a lightning lane to cut through most of it but we did have to wait 10 minutes or so before we got on. That is why this review belongs here. A dispute at one park followed us to another and disrupted the celebration we had paid for. We had been Disney annual passholders for over five years and had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars with the company. This trip was my graduation gift to Yasmine and her three friends: a week at Myrtle Beach followed by a week at Disney. The original dispute began at Animal Kingdom when a ride was down as we tried to use our paid Lightning Lane access. I asked for a replacement pass. The interaction escalated into residency questions after I mentioned we had flown in. We had flown from Myrtle Beach as part of this two-state graduation trip and had one-way plane tickets documenting the journey. Then we were stopped at Epcot because of Tyler's note. Other members of our group were subsequently cleared after providing documentation. Yasmine remained blocked. She had turned 18 less than 30 days earlier and had been an annual passholder with us for years. I accepted that turning 18 meant she could be required to provide her own residency proof. What I challenged was why she had to provide a Florida-issued ID when the other seven members of our group were cleared without one, and Disney's website lists alternative residency documents. During this ordeal, Yasmine and her friends were made to sit outside in the heat for three hours. Later that day, they passed out and became severely ill after that prolonged heat exposure. Disney wanted approximately $500 for Yasmine to enter for two days. This was supposed to be a celebration of their graduation. These are the memories we were left with instead. I escalated our complaint. On October 5, Rick from Executive Correspondence called. When I asked about the different documentation requirement, he said Disney had the right to ask. He told me the website required one of three Florida IDs. I read him the provision allowing alternative proof of residency. He said he was looking at the website and did not see what I was seeing. He repeatedly disagreed that we had been discriminated against and refused compensation or a refund. I still did not receive a specific explanation of why Yasmine's documents were insufficient under the published alternatives. We canceled. You do not have to be a Florida resident to care about how a company handles a family's problem. Consider how you would feel arriving at another park and finding that an earlier dispute now prevented entry, then discovering that even an executive escalation could not get you a clear explanation. Our experience left me feeling that Disney was more concerned with keeping our money than meaningfully addressing what happened. After years of loyalty, I no longer trust it with our family's celebrations or vacation budget.

Slinky Dog Dash is the anchor attraction and delivered as a family coaster that works for a wide range of ages. It is smooth, fast enough to feel exciting, and the Toy Story theming throughout the track layout is well integrated. Wait times regularly stretch past an hour, so prioritizing it early in the day or using Lightning Lane is the practical move. Toy Story Mania is an interactive 4D shooting game that holds up across multiple rides and was genuinely competitive and fun for my group. Alien Swirling Saucers is the gentler option that skews younger, but it is an easy yes for anyone who does not mind spinning. Woody's Lunch Box is worth building a meal or snack stop around. The totchos and grilled cheese are the items that keep coming up for good reason, and the Lunch Box Tarts are worth grabbing for dessert if I want something to eat while I keep moving through the land. The one consistent practical note is that the area has very little shade and gets genuinely hot during the middle of the day. Coming in during the early morning or staying into the evening is the right call. We parked and got on the shuttle. We got through security easily and headed in. They have a small main street kinds deal and then it opens up. We were late for some of the shows so we will have to come back again. My first stop was the restroom since we had a long drive. Of course it's right by a snack shack. I could not refrain from buying popcorn! They were popping it fresh! It's so good. We saw the frozen show was about to start so we headed into there. Everyone was singing along. I have never seen the movie but I was able to follow along. It was cute. Then we headed out to Star Wars. We did a couple rides and loved them. The millennium falcon ride actually broke down when we were next in line. They shuttled us over to the other side, which was working. That was fairly well organized. Afterward, we did the star tours and and ride of the resistance. While we waited, we got our pic w Chewbacca! We also got a spot at the star wars bar and had some apps and drinks. That was fun. I wish I had known about the walk up bar; we were not informed. I could have had a cocktail earlier and continued to wait for a table. Service was so good. We booked "lunch" at the diner where you sit in a car and watch old time sci-fi movies, which was a respite from the sun and served food everyone liked, but we actually went very early as soon as it opened, mostly because it had a last minute reservation, but it ended up being the perfect time to go, and worth the upgrade from the fast casual eats we had the rest of the day. The water show at the end of the night was amazing, not to be missed, and definitely a 5 star production. I have fond memories going here as a kid when it was a very very different park, but this is my first time back in decades. Walking through zig zag lines to be able to ride on the ride was an enjoyable experience as well. They did a tremendous job decorating the place and depicting details shown in the Avatar movie.
