Late yesterday (9 June) I discovered one of my three outdoor electric outlets was not working, cutting off my in-ground sprinkler system. I called and was able to arrange for early repairs on-site at 0800 hrs today, 10 June. Joe Hitchcock (??) arrived at the time agreed & expected and got promptly to work. Masked for CV 19, he got to work smartly. The existing outlets were originally installed in 1989 and the covers were the worse for wear. Linked together on one control box switch, I noted he was especially careful to ensure and double check that he was not at any time unknowingly working on a live line. Joe worked methodically, neatly and carefully at his repairs, with the how's and why's being explained to me as he went about his work. When he was done, I reconnected my sprinkler control box and confirmed the system was fully operative. My wife, who is proud of her garden, was especially pleased. I earned kudos for not getting in the way playing Dagwood Bumstead. The job took a full two hours, but I am entirely satisfied the work completed was quite necessary and that it was completed to the highest standards of the Electrical Repair business. I called to try to discuss the bill and no one would call me back. I understand the need for a call-out fee, but I think this is quite high. Other electricians in my area (Nanaimo, BC) have free estimates, so I'd recommend using one of those companies.
