The Four Bells is a small Irish bar in the 4th district. The front of the pub is non-smoking and there is a smoking section in the back. The atmosphere isn't as welcoming as other Irish bars I have visited...Maybe it is the lack of lighting? Or the low ceilings? I don't know I'm just not so keen. We went for the Quiz which we found out is taken very seriously. Don't try to sit on a table next to your friends - heaven forbid! The point in our Quiz night was to go and have some fun, albeit in two teams as there are only 6 people to one team. But the two teams weren't even allowed to sit next to each other and my team was cramped into an already overcrowded corner. The service to go with this was not friendly at all. I enjoy the "banter" or "craic" of Irish bar staff but this guy must have been having a bad day. I have to say though I have previously enjoyed some fun times here with excellent, friendly staff! Drinks prices: average. Food: a little on the expensive side. Quiz: hard! The Austrians struggled with some of the questions as some of them were very "British" based. If you are into having regimented fun then this quiz is for you. If you're like us and just wanted to have a laugh and some fun then I would recommend looking for somewhere else ;)

    Nachos were actually really good!

Highs and lows. Where are the lows? Dingy, sometimes crappy service. Once a hair was in a friends meal and the serve said 'a f@ck' and pulled it away without a sorry or any pleasantries really. The food is a 3/5 overall in quality, but pack taste, which might be MSG. Speculation really... :D in the end, the area is thin with possibilities and they serve Guinness. Win! Nachos are surprisingly good! And the burgers are OK.

    Bacon burger.

A Christmas to Remember at Flanagan's…read more There's something about a good Irish pub at Christmastime. The way the warmth greets you at the door, how the low hum of conversation and clinking glasses wraps around you like an old wool coat. That's what we found at Flanagan's in Vienna, a place where Christmas wasn't just a date on the calendar but something you could feel, deep in your bones. We sat down to a Christmas lunch that was everything a holiday meal ought to be, hearty, rich, and made with care. The kind of meal that sticks with you long after you've left, not just for the taste but for the way it made you feel. The Guinness was poured thick and smooth, a dark ribbon of comfort against the winter cold outside. And dessert? The kind that makes you want to loosen your belt and stay just a little longer. But it wasn't just the food. It was the place itself. The way the lights cast a soft glow over wooden tables worn smooth by time. The way laughter and stories filled the air, like an old family gathering where nobody wanted to leave. My son took it all in, wide-eyed and happy, and that alone made it worth the visit. If you ever find yourself in Vienna on a cold December day, stop by Flanagan's. Order a pint, settle in, and let Christmas wrap around you like an old song you almost forgot you knew.

We were part of a large group and he had no difficulty handling that along with the regular crowd. Food and drinks came quickly. Menu is good. Typical transported Irish pub atmosphere but well maintained. This is one Austrian Irish pub I actually felt worth returning to.
