Really like this restaurant the inside was decorated really nicely and had many different rooms to drink in. I recommend making a reservation for the nice booths in the back. I got a burger with fries and the whiskey flight. It was really good. I really enjoyed the blacks, triple threat whiskey, and the service was also very good. We were checked on regularly and ordered a couple rounds of drinks. I would recommend coming for happy hour Wednesday through Saturday from 7 to 8 PM for cheap drinks. there was also a party in DJ going on in the basement level. read more

The pub and staff: I have been going to Charlie P's ever since I moved to Vienna a year ago. It is the most lively Irish pub in Vienna and full of people from all over the world! The staff are always friendly and up for a bit of banter, even when it is super busy. There are smoking and non-smoking areas in the bar and dining room, and a dancefloor downstairs (smoking) which gets crazy busy especially on a weekend. They also have a pub quiz night and a karaoke night through the week. I have had trouble paying on card here so as a safety net always make sure you have cash! The food and drink: The drinks are what you would expect in an Irish pub - slightly above average Austrian prices. They also have a cocktail bar and I'm sure they have happy hour for this at some point in the night. With regards to food I'd class it as gourmet pub food....Slightly better than the average pub with some really nice and inventive dishes to try from. They still have the pub favourites too (fish and chips, burgers etc). Food prices are a little more than I would expect to pay, but the food is good. The crowd: Through the week it is frequented by lots of students who go crazy on the downstairs dancefloor but on the weekend there is quite a mix of ages, although again it is mostly only young (drunken) people downstairs. The music is mixed - a bit of everything really although apparently Saturday nights are now 80s nights :-/ Upstairs there is still a good atmosphere and there is room to chill and chat if you don't fancy dancing. When there is a busy sports schedule (football, rugby etc) you will always find a good atmosphere! In fact, I'd say the atmosphere is always good here and it's the type of place where everyone talks to each other so it's a good way to meet new people! read more

The Charlie P's Dinner is a great place to have some delicious Irish food! I would recommend you to book a table, even during the week it is full very quickly. Sure, it can be very loud in there, but if you want some true fish & chips it's definitely were you should go! According to an Irish friend of mine, it's the best you can have in town - and I have no doubt she is right! The boys usually prefer MEAT - well, their burgers and steaks are awesome :) and really really good too. They have also other Irish specialties, always very tasty (the sea bass... Hmmm!) and for all range of prices. Plus, the staff is friendly and do speak English (not always the case anymore nowadays!!). So yes, it's a great Irish restaurant which will make your stomach really happy! read more

Nice balance for a pub. In Vienna, the Irish burger is the best overall burger taking a lot into account. (Spreadsheet on the way). My only woe is that they increased the price of Guinness from 4,90 to 5,10. Bad move as the 10 cent is ridiculously annoying. Don't go here on a Tuesday evening, it will likely be quite literally flooded with med students, sometimes not few of them spilling out to the street. On every other day it's a great place to grab a good beer, or, if you fancy, go for a chat and swing in the cellar. Sadly, I avoided Charlie P's for the first 6 years I lived in Vienna! Visions of drunken football fans swilling semi-crappy beer kept me away...but I was wrong! An Irish friend took me there last year and I found not only a nice atmosphere but also great food! Best surprise -- a decent burger in a city I had given up on!! Not that I am complaining about Austrian food -- but I stick to Austrian beef dishes while in Wien, as they are delicious themselves and I try never try to replicate US burger or steak experiences. So far, this is this American girl's "best burger" in Vienna. Most important - they use BEEF and a regular bun! Some places use English muffins (I have no idea where this comes from...) or whole grain rolls (why?). Others use Faschiertes, which has pork in it. A burger needs to be all beef and on a white bun. Why whole wheat, feigning that you are eating healthy when you've just ordered a half lb. of red meat covered in cheese and mayonnaise?! If you want a close-enough US burger -- Charlie P's! Charlie P's also has a fun quiz night on Sundays. Great fish and chips (although maybe a Brit would argue and have more experience!), and the rest of the menu, as tasted from friends' plates, has been great, too! Frequented this place many times during my study abroad semester. Met many people from all over the world! I loved the split level bar areas and the karaoke. The food was great and fairly priced. A favorite in Vienna. Charlie P's is virtually two establishments in one. The pub area in the front and downstairs tends to cater to the local university crowd. If you fit the demographic and either smoke or don't mind a LOT of smoke around you, you will probably love it (many seem to since these areas tend to be quite crowded). Push through to the rear bar and dining area and you will find an excellent restaurant where you can enjoy a smoke-free meal or a few drinks without the airborne carcinogens. A steak special is offered on Mondays. It is delicious and I attend as often as I can during the cooler months. During the summer, the Charlie P's staff operate an outside dining area on the canal next to the Badeschiff called 'It's All About The Meat Baby'. Here you can enjoy food and drinks from a limited summer menu: burgers, chicken wings, hangover fries and of course beer. All seating is outside, but most is covered to protect from the sun or rain. We had decided to go to Charlie P's because it was near our hotel and some of the reviews said that the food was good. Upon first walking in, the waitress rudely waved her hand at us to sit at a table. She took forever to take our order, and when she did, she never took the menus back up - I had to return them myself (they took up a lot of room on the small table). When our food arrived, the waitress never brought us the basket with utensils and napkins - someone from the table next to us gave us theirs. I wasn't expecting too much from the service here in Austria, as I am familiar with the not-so-good service in Germany, but this waitress failed to provide us with even the basic necessities to eat our food. Her attitude and lack of attention ruined the whole experience for us. The food was not bad, however. read more

Both the pub and the dining atmosphere are great! They have a HUGE selection of drinks and the service was wonderful. I had the Irish Burger and the seasonal pumpkin and paprika soup. The burger was PERFECTLY cooked and the soup surprisingly spice (in a good way!) I really appreciate the separate dining room and it makes for a place that fits all my needs in Vienna, whether I want to sit down and share a meal or hang out and watch sports with friends. Where to start regarding Vienna's finest Irish Pub. Went there earlier today with some visiting family after getting a recommendation to give the Sunday Roast a try. We got a 4pm reservation and were promptly seated by an incredibly friendly and professional waiter named Steve. We advised that we were all in for the Sunday Roast. He promised we would not be disappointed and the Roast delivered. Incredibly, they brought the entire roast to the table and carved up a healthy portion for each of us. On top of that, with the roast came a bowl of the tastiest perfectly roasted potatoes and carrots. Just for gluttony, they also brought a bowl of peas and 4 pieces of corn on the cob. The roast was absolutely incredible, cooked perfectly and the tastiest piece of meat I had thus far in Vienna. Along with the roast came a boat of sumptuous gravy which only enhanced the favors of each juicy rare piece of roast. Charlie P's has a great selection of beers, which I can assure Guiness goes just right with the roast. On top of all the great food, the service and especially Steve our waiter were top notch. If you are looking for great food, fun and friendly environment along with something other than typical Austrian food, Charlie P's and the Sunday Roast is your best bet. Don't miss it. Just know the roast is only served on Sundays between 1pm and 5pm. read more

Charlie P's is a high end Irish pub. They have a great selection of beers (even found my favorite Belgian beer) and the staff is very helpful and cheerful. The downside of this is that prices are quite up, specially if you compare them to other Irish pubs but the music and the fun you have in the place are worth it. read more

Ordered the lamb and all I have to say is that the portion is ridiculously small. Was enough for a child, but not for an adult. Still, the price was "adult". I wouldn't hesitate in calling it overpriced. To add to the list of terrible things, my servant (Tibor) was simply the worst I've ever had. Was very chatty, attentive and nice to other customers, but for some reason decided to be quiet, rude and ignore me most of the time. When I finally got tired of waiting for him to ask me what dessert I selected (I called him 2 times before, and was ignoring/showing photos on his phone), I just asked for the check and told him all about his attitude. Result: "I didn't notice anything, I try to be the same for all the customers". All said... If you go there maybe you have better luck than me with the servant, but I still think there are much better choices for the price in Vienna. read more
