Solid sound, good crisp screen color and clarity. What they needed to work on was it was HOT! The lady next to me said at least 3 times "Is it just me or is it really hot in here"? The 3rd time I said it IS hot! The audience walking in had blankets, and I'm pretty sure they didn't need them. It was enough heat to be uncomfortable, but not hot enough to get up, find a staff person and miss part of the movie. Had it been hot in the previews, I would have hunted down a staffer. The heat was what dropped my stars. The so so seat alone wouldn't have been an issue.

The prices are better than in bigger cities, for every ticket ;eve; and some of the snacks. The staff are pleasant, and usually we buy our seats online before we arrive which is easy to do and convenient. Regardless, the wait lines are usually quick from entry to seating to the snack bar and to the restrooms. Most important, the seating is not cramped and the screen experience is good. So far, we have been cool inside while watching any movie, however hot it gets outside. Our only complaint is sometimes the movie is too loud, and we've had to leave our seats to ask for more tolerable levels.

I'll be honest... I didn't expect to be this impressed…read more My experience is mainly with the Westside location, Flix Brewhouse El Paso - West, and it completely changed how I see this place. I had first heard about them through a menu tasting on the Eastside, but after visiting multiple locations, the Westside is where I've spent the most time--and where this experience really stood out. You can tell they've put a lot of effort into rebuilding after taking over the former Alamo locations. But what really surprised me was the food quality. This is not typical movie theater food. The pizza dough is made fresh daily, sauces are scratch-made, and the menu feels like an actual restaurant, not just concessions. Even their beers are award-winning, and it's clear they care about quality and consistency. I ended up hosting my son's birthday here for about 14 people, and honestly, it was one of the easiest group outings I've done. We ordered everything from our seats, the kids shared refillable popcorn, and everyone had great food the entire time while watching the movie. No lines, no waiting, no juggling trays, and no missing parts of the film. They also have a private room we used for cake, plus games like foosball, which made it really easy to manage a group. Pricing was another surprise. Tickets here were actually cheaper than comparable theaters, even though it may not look like it at first because fees are shown upfront. When I compared the full experience--tickets plus food--it ended up being a better overall value than going somewhere else and just buying snacks. They also honored old Alamo gift cards, which was a really nice touch. As for the 18% service charge, after seeing how hard the servers work, it makes sense. They are constantly moving up and down stairs in a dark theater delivering food so you don't have to leave your seat. That level of service is part of the experience. Overall, between the food quality, service, and convenience, this has easily become one of my go-to spots. Also want to recognize Melissa, the GM, and her team. They create a really welcoming environment, and it shows.

Allen theaters have, for years, trailed the national standard for theaters. Some of this can be…read moreattributed to Las Cruces not being a very large place. However, I can't escape the feeling that if there was some competition in town, Allen would have provided more. Currently, if a movie in coming out that I really want to see, I drive to El Paso. I do catch a movie here and there at the Allen theaters. The mall theater is dingy, the El Paseo is OK for a discount theater, and the Telshor location is the best so far. However, last movie I saw at Telshor, the ceiling was missing panels, and it smelled moldy. All and all, not the best movie going experience. Note: I am a cinemaphile. If it gets good reviews, I want to see it, regardless of whether it will "offend" me or question my views and beliefs. It is my understanding, that Allen ownership has resisted showing features that do not match with the owners own religious and political beliefs. While I cannot directly verify this, I can tell you that a certain film, that just earned Sean Penn a best actor Oscar, is not playing here at any Allen Theatre. WTF Update: The cineport is here and it is . . . OK. Nothing great here. The theater I was in was small, but elevated in a good stadium setup (nice and steep). Also, the chairs were great. They pivot on two axis and really kept my ass happy through almost three hours of Watchmen. Based on the access to more movies (assuming Allen stops cherry picking them based on politics) and the great chairs I am upgrading Allen theaters to three stars.

This was my husband and I's first time at Alamo so we didn't know what to expect. Back home in SoCal I had been to a few in-service movie theaters and in all honesty those ones were much better. To start off with the good, the theater is very big and looks to be brand new. It is the only establishment in the lot except for a McDonald's and a gas station so I'm assuming it was recently opened. The theater was nice and open, they also kept the temperature at a good spot unlike other theaters who will literally freeze you while you watch a movie. Our server was good, at least the first one that came to introduce himself and ask if it was our first time. I think they have a crew that just delivers food or comes around to check on you cause I kept seeing different people every time something was dropped off. Now for the food... honestly it was disappointing. The only positive I can say is that the loaded fries were good. Both my husband and I enjoyed those. But that's where the good ended. I ordered the watermelon margarita for myself and unfortunately had to send it back due to it being extremely salty! I asked for water instead, which I stuck with for the duration of the movie. My husband ordered the bbq chicken pizza, which he says wasn't too bad. I did have a few bites and really don't think it was worth the hefty $16 price. It didn't really taste like bbq chicken to me, I can't put my finger on it but something tasted off. I got the ribeye tacos and they were very salty. Not only that but the meat was really dry as well with almost no other toppings. The chips and salsa that came with my meal didn't really help either. The chips were super salty and the salsa just didn't taste good at all. I see a running theme at this theater for having salty food. So take that with a grain of salt (pun intended). One thing I do have to say is that despite only taking a sip or two of my watermelon margarita and sending it back for a glass of water, it appears we were still charged for the drink. Unfortunately my husband didn't check the bill and also didn't mention anything until we got home but I think we were overcharged on our bill. I totaled everything and it should have been around $51 but my husband said he paid over $80 including tip. I don't think he would have tipped $30 so I believe we were charged incorrectly. Another reason why their rating is so low. Overall I don't know if I would ever come back here. The theater is nice, big and new - but the lack of flavor in their food and drinks as well as overcharging by what I consider a big amount on our bill. I just can't recommend Alamo Drafthouse. I think going to Cinemark and just getting a popcorn and candy would have been a better bet.
