When we first walked in the ladies checking tickets were a little rude with how they approached us and wondered what we were doing there. As if we weren't paying customers...but we just let it slid because we assumed they were dealing with many people that night. The only down side to this theater is there is not enough restrooms. I got her some tokens and my cousin and I ordered the food. Both of us ordered the vegan burger with fries and for little one chicken strips and fries. The food is plain and generic, (Sysco Foods quality). We were there an hour and a half. Their description was a combination of a Chuck e Cheese and Dave & Buster's. It was a great choice with a little girl in a hot Saturday afternoon.

It only takes about 30 minutes to slowly wander around, so not a huge time commitment to visit. They have a unique exhibit of a trackway from the Permian period. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall worth a look.

I had the pleasure of seeing my friends perform in "Lone Star/Laundry and Bourbon"; and I also served as house manager for one performance. As house manager, I got to work with the owners, Ceil and Peter Herman. The Hermans are very dedicated to keeping their theater viable, fresh, and thriving; both in the performing arts and cultural community, and the community of Las Cruces itself. The performance of Jame's McClure's "Lone Star" and "Laundry and Bourbon", two related one-acts depicting rural life in Texas in the 1970s, was directed by W Dale Pawley, and had a fantastic cast. In "Laundry and Bourbon", Melissa Chambers was a standout as Hattie, Marjorie Brouhard was Elizabeth, and Kim Wollard was charming as Amy Lee. "Lone Star" featured great performances by Jeff Peckham as Roy, Tony Cordova as Ray, and Corey Dlask as Cletus. Staying true to McClure's script, the two plays gave a comical and bittersweet 1970s rural Texan viewpoint on a variety of topics ranging from post-traumatic stress disorder, infidelity, Vietnam, depression, alcoholism, abortion, and mah jongg. The play closed after its three week run, but I'll be back to see other outstanding performances at this intimate venue.

So many thoughts! We visited opening night for the first night of the rodeo. The rodeo was pretty…read moregreat, it started on time and had a good array of events although there were just a few riders in each category. The clown and announcers did a great job. The seating was terrible and super HOT. Would a few front facing fans be possible? Way too cramped. We got there an hour early and were seated comfortably. But as the rodeo got closer and closer to start time people just kept cramming in. I literally had a gentlemen (I hesitate to call him that - a dude) squish so close to me he was sitting a little on my lap. (I am not exaggerating- it was shocking). When the rodeo concluded at around 8:30pm we decided to "look" at the rides. Meaning we walked over to that area. Big mistake. The walkways were so incredibly crowded and not well lit. It was not the safest feeling environment. We did "look" at the rides, drank an overpriced lemonade, and ate a pretty good funnel cake that took 40 minutes to get. When we entered the fair at 6:00pm there was a state police booth placing bracelets on your children, in case you got separated. It seemed overboard to me, but I signed my kids up any way. After seeing the evening dynamic at the state fair it makes PERFECT SENSE why the police have a bracelet system. Get the bracelet from the police, but also, don't stay too late after dark. I am half and half about my recommendation of the Fair. Look at your bank account, flip a coin, evaluate your calendar and go or don't.

BUT, the kind person running the store gave me a store-use container of matte medium. There wasn't much left in the jar but it helped me with my project, & I appreciated her gesture very much. Obviously I will return when I need framing done!
