Too much reflection when taking photos of NYC at night though. Better to walk outside by the Port Imperial ferry terminal, and along the riverfront walkway. Complimentary water bottles upon check-in. Were informed that Breakfast is available for a fee. Rooms are small. King-sized room had a sizeable bathroom with double sink. The double room was much tighter, with regular bathroom size. Modern fixtures; nice coffee maker; mini-fridge wasn't cold and kept tilting forward. There is a gym and pool but didn't get to check them out. We didn't bring stuff since we thought we just had time for sleeping, but pleasantly surprised when we got late check-out at 2pm. Daily parking fee (ticket said pay at a pay-station before retrieving car but after looking around and finally asking at the lobby, can just pay right before exiting.) Elevators from parking lot.

No additional blanket in the closet - had to ask! No hook for the ironing board or iron in the closet. The toilet was not fully scrubbed around the bowl - saw old streaks of urine coming down the front of the bowl. The toilet seat looked cloudy, not as clean as it could/should be. Lower half of bathroom wall had stains and needed a scrub! But the hot shower and flow was ideal! I'd return as the stay was convenient for a NYC Christmas!

Unfortunately, this experience completely changed my opinion of the company. We originally had a reservation for three nights starting the following day. We arrived at the hotel around 7:30 PM and asked the front desk if they had a room available because we wanted to check in a day early. The gentleman at the front desk said they did and told me he needed to contact his manager to figure out how to change the reservation and what the price would be. I honestly didn't understand why this was such a complicated process, but I waited. About 15-20 minutes later, he came back and told me it would be around $1,100 for the next three nights. I was shocked because I was literally looking at the Best Western website with this location on my phone and saw the room advertised for $159 per night. I showed him the price, and once again he said he needed to speak with his manager. Another 15 minutes went by. He came back and said his manager could do it for $900 and something. Again, I showed him the advertised online rate and explained that I didn't understand why I was being quoted hundreds of dollars more than the rate publicly advertised on Best Western's own website. Once again, he went into the back to speak with his manager. At this point, I called Best Western customer service myself. I explained exactly what was happening, and the representative looked up the website and confirmed that the $159 rate was showing online. I asked if he could speak directly with the hotel, but he said he couldn't do anything about it and transferred me to another customer service representative. That's when things got even worse. I explained the entire situation again. Instead of trying to help resolve the problem, the representative told me that because I had previously agreed to a $280 rate, I had to pay that amount. The conversation became so heated that he was yelling at me. I sincerely hope Best Western reviews that call because the way I was treated was completely unacceptable. I was standing at the front desk while this was happening, and even the hotel employee was shaking his head at how embarrassing the conversation had become. The guy on the phone was so unprofessional. At that point, I told the front desk employee that I wanted to cancel everything. I no longer wanted to spend another dime with Best Western. I was then told I was "too late" to cancel, with the guy on the phone because it was on speaker phone, I hung up the phone because the conversation was going nowhere. My account at the hotel was then apparently locked by that person and the price being quoted somehow went even higher. Again, this sounds unbelievable, but this is exactly what happened. After another 20-30 minutes, the account was finally unlocked. The front desk employee spoke with his manager again and came back with yet another price that was still nowhere close to the advertised online rate. Eventually, the manager offered us two choices: receive a refund of our deposit and leave, or stay that night at the advertised $159 rate and figure out the rest of the stay the following day. By this point, it was after 9 PM. We were exhausted from traveling, so I agreed to stay that night at the $159 rate. Then I was told they were going to charge me $900 and something and that the manager would reimburse me the following day. At that point, I had enough. I canceled the stay and decided I would rather find somewhere else than continue dealing with this situation. What should have been a simple conversation -- "We'd like to check in one day early; do you have a room available?" -- turned into hours of confusion, multiple trips to the back office, conflicting prices, a customer service representative yelling at me, and an experience that left me completely frustrated and embarrassed.

The gym is a bit small but it works to get a quick pump in. The rooms aren't extremely spacious but at the very minimum the best are extremely comfortable. This was our first time doing date night together at a hotel, so we did go somewhere nicer the first time around. It was a great stay! BOOKING My man planned and booked everything. He booked it via booking.com and had a slight issue because he accidentally booked it for the wrong date. Booking does have a change of reservation policy, it is free and included, but the first 2 people over the phone at booking did not want to do their jobs. The third person finally did their job and seamlessly changed the reservation date. Why isn't the option available online, I'll never know, that could have all been avoided! He works overtime quite a bit and late nights so I didn't blame him for a second! It meant the world to me that he planned this all on his own for me. So he made a mistake, big whoop, things happen when you're exhausted. PARKING The parking lot is spacious and free! Plenty of parking to choose from! Obviously we also stayed off season during a weekday so that might have also factored into things. CHECKING-IN My god this place was stunning! Supposedly this is a 3-star hotel, but it is definitely the best 3-star hotel we stayed in thus far! Checking-in was a breeze, had no issues at all. ROOM The room is gorgeous! It is an open floor plan, but you are going to be mesmerized and in love with this place! I definitely want to go back at some point! Everything was so well lit. I loved the open floor plan bathroom. The sliding door to the toilet was chefs kiss! You wouldn't have even known it was there. And there's a mirror on the sliding door! There's also a floor to ceiling interesting mirror on the opposite wall. Stunning! The wallpaper options were interesting and eccentric to say the least, but we still enjoyed the vibe. It was very hipster I guess you could say. Definitely a vibe! The bed was comfortable as well! All the pillows were nice and soft, overall the whole stay and date night was a hit! And because we had such a good time with the first date night, we decided to keep doing it! Pun not intended. The TV and remote also worked well! We were able to log into my Netflix account with ease, and it logs out on its own as well! FOOD There is no breakfast included, but there are plenty of restaurants around the area to go grab a bite to eat. We actually took a quick walk in the evening, after checking in, to grab dinner at Outback Steakhouse. But there's so many other places, Nrgzie a juice smoothie shop, Chipotle, Carnegie Diner & Cafe, as well as others. If you don't like anything in the area, the American Dream Mall has many options to choose from as well! OVERALL This hotel is right near many other hotels in the area. The American Dream Mall is nearby, but it is not in walking distance. You either need to drive, get an Uber/Lyft or take a shuttle over if the hotel provides shuttle service. A lot of the surrounding hotels do provide a shuttle service, so just check in with the front desk. My man and I love to snowboard before date night, that's why I mention American Dream Mall quite often. That's our shared hobby and how we met. This area is very clean and safe, so you can rest assured and have a great stay! I know I sure did! Unfortunately I don't have many photos because we stayed here prior to me starting to Yelp, but I hope I come back and get some great photos eventually! Overall stunning place and great stay! All my first 5-star review on Yelp! I do not give 5-stars out lightly.
