There is a small exhibit area about some of the animals, geology, geography, and history of the area. We hiked the 3 mile Sugar Loaf trail. It was more challenging than expected due to the sand. The weather was very pleasant the day we went in the spring. We saw quite a few other people enjoying the trail and having picnics. We heard a lot of birds including woodpeckers. The variety of trees and pinecones during our hike was fascinating.

The city lists it as 401 S. 8th Street, but the park borders S. 10th, Ann and S. 8th Streets. Quick Summary - It's a city park - One Pavilion - Baseball field that also used as a soccer field - There is a swimming pool - Several tennis courts that are also used for pickle ball - One playground area for kids - Very large open field Additional information The park is in an up and coming area. It's safe to visit but I would probably not hang out after dark. Dogs are allowed but not in the tennis courts or ball fields. No doggy poop bag stations so bring your own bag. The large field has lots of ant mounds so keep that in mind while you are walking across it. Not sure if the city tries to control the ants or not. They will bite your ankles if you let them. Every now and then a few jack wagons will ride their dirt bikes and 4 wheelers through the park, so watch out for that. You also get a lot of litter along the sidewalk on Ann Street from pedestrians and passing cares. Some folks just give a crap.

Folks are friendly and the neighborhood is great. (Full disclosure: my parents live in the Lakes and my dad golfs regularly.) Blossoms is the latest incarnation of the Magnolia Greens golf course clubhouse restaurant. I first reviewed it back in 2011, when it was called Magnolia Grill. While the interior may have been updated in the intervening years, the boxy space is the same. You definitely get a "golf course clubhouse restaurant" vibe here, and I assume patrons are primarily from the neighborhood, or golfers. It's a friendly place to gather and eat before or after a round of golf. Destination dining, it is not. Breakfast and lunch menus are available, and it's your basic golf course clubhouse food. A selection of salads and sandwiches at lunch, and all the breakfast basics earlier in the day. There are few gluten free options, but I was able to enjoy the Blossoms salad with homemade balsamic vinaigrette. (I heard on good authority this salad is a favorite of the ladies' golf group.) It's a large portion, and leftovers kept well for another meal the following day. My husband opted for the cheeseburger and fries, which he deemed below average. "Two star, tasted like meatloaf." The all-beef hot dog plate that wandered by our table looked good, and may be an option for me on a return visit, sans bun. Informal surveys of the regulars seem to indicate that breakfast is the best meal served at Blossoms. So get there early and fill up before hitting the links.

Pros: the sport of Golf grew like crazy during the pandemic, so it's near impossible to find a course that isn't packed to the brim. This course wasn't packed at all. We saw maybe 3 small groups scattered throughout the course. The rates are super cheap too, and cheaper in the afternoon. $21 for 9 holes with a cart, $25 for 18 holes with cart. The holes were pretty wide in lots of parts so even if you hit it off to the side, you still have a good chance of finding your ball. The grass isn't in bad shape and the greens give you a mix of fast and slow. Cons: there aren't any definite fairways. The golf carts are kinda slow. Overall, I think this is a great course for having a good time with your buddies, or if you're still trying to learn the game. It gives you a nice mix of easy and tough holes, a few small water hazards scattered, but I don't recall seeing any sand bunkers. I liked this course a lot and will come back again.

Well, in an unusual turn of events, all left hand clubs were rented during our tee time. They said that never happens. A big disappointment turned into an extremely kind and thoughtful gesture. One of the employees ran home and grabbed his own personal set. Talk about going above and beyond. Wow! First class service all the way around made for a fun 9 for our boys. Thanks, Castle Bay for a fun afternoon on a beautiful course.
