I was looking for a place for my daughter to get the energy out and, with good reviews, headed toward Riverwalk Park. It just so happened to be their Christmas market and fair - with face painting, vendors, special treats and games. My little one could have cared less about the aforementioned happenings. She cares about playgrounds and this park had one of the best we've seen. It was crawling with kids, so even better for entertainment! She played for hours. There was plenty of space, nooks and crannies for kids to run and do their own thing. The equipment all looked in good repair and the park was very clean. Everything is surrounded by mature trees so the playground was shaded during our visit. As lunch approached, we walked over to the water for some calm & relaxation. There are a couple of boat ramps, though I believe I was there at low-tide as one looked inaccessible. There were also a couple of swings to sit and look out over the water. I noted a walking trail as we were leaving and would certainly return to see the rest of the park. I was very impressed with my first visit here.

The 35 acre park has four baseball/softball fields, two basketball courts, two tennis courts, a shuffleboard and bocce ball court, horseshoe pit, picnic shelters, TWO playgrounds and a dog park. Pretty much everything. I did get a little bit of a walk on the walking trail. There is more than enough parking here and easy access from the roadway. There were lots of people walking the paved path around the course so you'll have to be mindful of them while playing. Was a little confusing figuring out course but there is a map online. Fun spot to check out. There is also a playground but was closed due to pandemic closures.

We hoped to see gators but missed them all. Tons of turtles though. The walking trail is 5 miles around the lake and easy with shaded spots, and various lookout locations with benches to rest or simple zen out. I wish I lived closer so I could walk this look weekly!

My kids enjoy the skate park and playgrounds. The trials are well kept. Lock your car and keep items out of view. This park is known for vagrants and we did see one person approach our car and try the doors. They scurried away quickly when they noticed we saw them. This could be because we have out of state plates but locals say this park is known for crime.

It consists of a small parking lot, a green hill, a couple benches with close up views of the Cape Fear River. Lately I've been exploring our local parks a lot more and I'm insanely impressed with the NHC Parks & Rec, after what I've found. Dram Tree, though, I wouldn't really consider a "park," but rather a picnic spot and/or photo backdrop. It's cute and I'm glad I visited, but won't really be hanging out here or recommending to anyone other than tourists looking for a unique date spot.

Most areas are kind of confined, some more than others! The ladders can be a little challenging but just take it easier. The ship has been well maintained and preserved. The amount of how much of this ship history that has been preserved in simply astounding. From the sick recovery rooms, where surges were perform, the communications center, dining area, ship store, divers, laundry room, shower room, the ship is massive. Appreciating each and every person who served, appreciating those that have preserved this ship. The price was super affordable, staff were very friendly and informative. My son and I covered a great amount of the ship in two hours and u found rooms on the ship that I didn't see the first time around. Plenty of free parking and a nice gift shop as well.

I have a toddler and we love taking him to the Long Leaf Park splash pad but it gets a bit crowded…read moreand overwhelming. I'd heard about the Northside Splash Pad and was excited to check it out, but the first two times we swung by during "open" hours, it actually wasn't open. I guess it was undergoing some repairs, but I never saw any info about that or info about when it finally opened. We've gone three times in the past few weeks and it's perfect for my little guy. Small, contained (if we close the gate), benches and tables to sit at, and enough water fixtures to be fun without being too much for a toddler. Some of them could use some upkeep, but it works well for us. Thrilled to have this other option for a splash pad during this hot summer!
