The only form of therapy was DBT, and it was emphasized heavily, despite not being effective for a multitude of patients. I have a strong recovery now, but no thanks to this place.

The counselors at Hope Evergreen really go beyond the basic and try to find the best way to communicate and connect with someone where they are and what they're experiencing, and that's rare. When you have a counselor who is striving to treat you as an individual, it makes such a difference in working out your issues. I can't recommend Hope Evergreen enough.

This is a horrible place, full of incompetence. I came here expecting to be assessed for ADHD,…read morewhich is what my appointment was scheduled for. Instead, Tomika Washington completely invalidated me while I was explaining why I believe I have ADHD and the problems I've faced. She is supposed to be a psychiatric nurse, yet she made extremely hurtful and stereotypical statements about ADHD. She told me I couldn't possibly have ADHD because I was sitting still and not moving around. She also said that because I didn't make bad grades in school, that disqualifies me from having ADHD. She claimed that if I truly had ADHD, I would have already been diagnosed and would have had accommodations during my school years. Instead of helping me, she told me that when I go to college, if I start doing badly in school, then I can come back to get diagnosed. She repeatedly tried to push a diagnosis of anxiety on me, even though I do not have anxiety and said nothing that would indicate that I do. Anyone in the psychiatric field should know that people with ADHD can sit still (some do and some don't). There are also many adults who are only now being diagnosed, even in their 40s, because ADHD was not widely recognized or properly screened for when they were younger. There are also many people with ADHD who make good grades. Often, because of their intelligence, they learn to compensate and work harder than everyone else. You shouldn't have to wait until your life starts falling apart before you are able to get help. On top of invalidating me and spreading misinformation about ADHD, she also put words in my mouth by claiming I had anxiety and was worried about school when I never said anything like that. She even suggested that I probably have autism simply because I wasn't energetic in my speech. If you want someone who will invalidate your concerns, put words in your mouth, and show a lack of understanding about their own profession and mental disorders, then this is the person for you. If not, go see an actual psychiatrist or a psychiatric nurse who is competent and compassionate.

He treats you with kindness, respect, and absolutely no judgment. His advice is top-notch, and after a session with him, I always leave feeling better than when I came in. Plus, he's the group leader during our outpatient sessions and has a great style that I really like. He even jokes around with us, which makes the atmosphere more relaxed. Speaking of the group, I have nothing bad to say about it personally. I was scared at first, thinking I would do terrible or that people would judge me. But they have some rules in place, like not passing judgment on anyone and not apologizing when it's not your fault and as a group they've helped me become a much less of a people pleaser and be a person whose a lot more assertive in things and confident they've also taught me my worth as a human is way more than what I thought it was going in I had the worst confidence and through soley this out patient group at the transformation center I really do feel I've made a huge huge transformation. It's thanks to Ja Priest and the group and his encouraging words that I've learned not to blame myself for things that aren't my fault. That's something I've never been told by a previous therapist. JaPriest always finds a way to fit me into his schedule. He's really accommodating and makes sure I get the support I need. Overall, The Transformation Center has been a game-changer for me, and I highly recommend it!
