Very generous portion, and the flavor is authentic but on the light side which I feel it's definitely less greasy and salty for the health benefits. Stumbled upon this dim sum restaurant during the holidays because New Asian BBQ had an unbelievably long wait list. This place might have been a hidden gem because it looks like a hotspot restaurant. One may not know they actually serve dim sum unless you read Chinese. The restaurant is quite spacious with two dining halls and a BBQ station in the middle. There are also private rooms in the back. They do not have dim sum carts but offer a wide variety of dishes. There were seven of us so we were able to sample many different items. We've been to a few dim sum places in Vegas, so this time we decided to try something new and checked out Fortune Seafood. It's inside a plaza that was pretty empty, nothing else was really open, but once you walk into Fortune Seafood, the space is actually huge. High ceilings, lots of room, seating on both sides, and everything looked clean. There's also a Chinese BBQ section right at the entrance, and that's when we knew we picked the right place. We got there at the perfect time and didn't have to wait at all. The menu is massive and honestly really impressive, especially since we don't have many places like this back in Arizona, so sad. The dim sum menu is split into sections A through E, from the basic stuff to the more fancy dishes. Prices go up as you move through the sections, but it's still pretty reasonable. Obviously, we ordered a little bit from every section. The server was really nice, the food came out super fast, and everything tasted great. Good quality, hot, fresh, and just how dim sum should be. We usually go to the usual suspects for dim sum whenever we are in Vegas, like Yum Cha and Tim Ho Wan. The dim sums served there are okay. So, for a change, I decided to try a new dim sum restaurant I hadn't been to. I had high hopes for Fortune, which has 4.1 stars and 114 reviews - as of this writing. Regretfully, Fortune didn't quite meet my expectations. Several of the dishes, like Bean Curd Skin Rolls, Har Gow, and Chiu Chow Style Dumplings, came across as bland and relied heavily on added hot sauce and soy sauce to bring out any authentic flavor. While condiments can enhance a meal, they shouldn't be essential to make it enjoyable. The dumpling wrappers were acceptable, though noticeably thicker than usual, giving them a slightly gummy texture rather than the light, delicate bite I was expecting. The shrimp filling was at least succulent, but there was a faint, earthy, almost dirty aftertaste that was hard to ignore and detracted from the overall enjoyment. As for the egg tarts, they were just okay. The crust lacked the flaky, buttery layers that make a great egg tart memorable, and the egg filling tasted a bit diluted instead of rich and custardy. Overall, the food was serviceable, but it fell short in flavor and refinement. After being a loyal takeout customer for years- and having enjoyed their dim sum and BBQ dishes in the past- I came back to Fortune recently to try a few new items. Glad I did. The spicy fried crab special was a standout. Great flavor, great texture, and surprisingly addictive. Just a heads up: it's served over a bed of chilies and fried peanuts, so if you have nut allergies, this dish is a definite skip. We also tried the crispy fried noodles (often called Hong Kong-style noodles at other places), and they were a hit with the whole family. We liked them so much we ordered a second plate. I'd give them a very solid 8/10. For reference, the same style at Wynn's Red 8 is a 10/10, but nearly double the cost, so the value here is excellent. One more bonus: Fortune is dog friendly. They let me bring my small lap dog inside without any issue, which was a pleasant surprise and made the visit even more convenient. I wouldn't say it was the best I've had, but everything was good overall. The duck had good flavor, though it wasn't very crispy. The sugarcane shrimp, shrimp shumai, fried rice, mongolian beef were all good. The sweet and sour chicken and walnut shrimp were a little too sweet for me but still enjoyable. I loved their baked sweet cream bun. It didn't have a custard filling like I was expecting but it was still great, especially after I popped the leftover bun in the microwave for a few seconds. I'm actually thinking of going back just to order a few to go. After dinner, the kids played on the claw machine just outside the restaurant (still inside the building), which was a fun way to hang out and chill after eating. We think the barbecue meats here are the best in Chinatown. We had the roast pork and the duck. The skin on the roast pork was so crispy and the pieces of roast pork melted in your mouth as you ate it. The duck was very flavorful and so delicious. While hanging out at the nearby Sweet Talk, we saw the signage for Fortune. It appears that Fortune took over the The Noodle Man Spot and also controls the Chubby Boy BBQ side as well. You can enter from the parking lot through the one glass door (which used to the be The Noodle Man entrance) or through the general entrance passing by Sweet Talk, Souperb Wagyu Hot Pot & Grill and Tbaar (which I believes goes by another name now). They offer dim sum during the day, as dim sum should only be a brunch/lunch item. And they have a very extensive Chinese menu, in addition to Chinese BBQ items. We ran into Debbie N. and she told us about their Lobster Noodles specials that she was picking up that day. We ended returning the following week to try this dish. * Lobster Noodles $26.99 - This is a special limited time item and they guarantee one pound of lobster meat. When I was digging through the shells, some appeared empty but I guess they need to do this so they don't give away too much meat when it's a bigger lobster. The noodles were good too. * Garlic Oysters $19.99 for 6 - This was also a special limited time time. Six large mussels baked with loads of garlic. * Crispy Pork Belly $19.99/lb - It's listed on the menu as "Special Braised Pork Belly" but I like to call it Crispy Pork Belly as it's all about the crispy pork skin. This Chinese menu item is always a winner, and beats how other roasted pigs are made. Their version had a lot of fat, which can be a good or bad thing. They serve it with hoisan sauce too. You do need to get a minimum of a pound when ordering this dish, as we attempted to do half and they wouldn't let us. * Red Bean Sago Dessert - This was a surprise as it's complimentary. It's been a long time since I received a complimentary dessert at a Chinese restaurant in Las Vegas. I'm not the biggest fan of red bean personally, but theirs was enjoyable and a nice sweet treat at the end. Service was very efficient - which the servers even refilling our tea cups. They also tried changing our plates midway, but we didn't need to this time. I appreciate that they offered tea when we sat down as it seems tea has become an extra cost at other Chinese establishments. (Growing up, tea was always offered and complimentary when dining at Chinese restaurants. The only place that used to charge was dim sum restaurants, which is expected.) I made a reservation through Yelp since we went on a Sunday morning but didn't really need it at 11am. However, the place was packed by the time we were done. This place serves dimsum every day until 3pm but without the roving carts. The food came out pretty fast and service was prompt for the most part. Dimsum prices range from $4.58 - $9.99 with a few specials for $3.99 - $4.99. These prices are not bad for Vegas but still higher compared to SoCal. The pork shumai, ham sui kok (deep-fried meat roll), and shrimp paste in tofu were good. The lo mai gai (sticky rice in lotus leaf) was okay but I've had better. I would skip the chicken bun from the specials menu since it had more veggies than chicken in the filling. The crispy noodles with seafood and crispy pork belly were the highlights of our meal. Wanted to check out Fortune since I heard it's one of the best dim sum spots. When we first walked in there was no one at the host stand, we stood there for about 15 minutes until someone finally came. After we placed our order we ended up waiting 30 minutes for the food to come out. We're used to dim sum coming out fast at other places, so this was a little frustrating as we only ordered 5 small dishes. The dim sum itself was pretty good though. We've been here I don't know, three or four or maybe even five or six times, but the squidlett and her hubs, has never joined us. They were in the mood so we all toodles down there at around 10:30. Discovered this place through a friend's recommendation. So glad we checked it out because we were pleasantly surprised! On the outside, the restaurant is called "Fortune" but it seems to be an old "Noodle Man" restaurant, or maybe it is a partnership with the "Noodle Man" because the artwork inside and the exit door showed "The Noodle Man". Yet, the receipt said "Chubby Boy BBQ", so either they are all partners in this joint or it has multiple personalities or maybe they just haven't completely changed to one name. Either way, as long as the food is good, whatever they call it is fine with me. :) So the inside has 2 dining areas and the center of the place is a BBQ place where you can see roast ducks and Xa Xiu Pork hanging there like any China Town BBQ joint would have. Maybe this is their "Chubby Boy BBQ"? They also have Soy Sauce chicken, Pork Belly, etc. and you can get half or whole chicken. The Pork Belly (Xa Xiu pork) is per pound. When you are seated, they will give you a menu as well as the Dim Sum menu, where you can visually see the items and you can check mark or put down how many you want per item. The Dim Sum items are per category of A, B, C, D and the pricing will apply to those areas. eg. items in the A category is $, B is $$, C is $$$ and so on. Once ordered, they will print out the items you ordered and give you that list. As they bring out the ordered items, they will cross that off the list. This system is quite neat because there is no misunderstanding of what was ordered, what has been brought out and what is still "outstanding" till they bring them to your table. It's very efficient and transparent, which I really appreciated. The Food: You can see the quality of the food here which is pleasantly and thankfully very good! We were very pleased that everything looked really fresh and very tasty. Definitely a step above other dim sum places we have had. The staff is very friendly, very quick to respond to you. Food? Delicious. Service? Terrible! I made a reservation, which was meaningless because it's the same live name and party number system used at every other Cantonese dim sum place. So if you see tons of reservations available, know that it's actually likely going to be busy and you're going to have to wait. But back to the bad service: nobody would talk to me about the reservation (the hostess squinted at my phone like the reservation system was foreign to her) or our table unless I chased them down, and then after we were seated, it took a very long time for them to take our order, they missed a couple of things on our dim sum sheet, and the food took sooo long to come out, some of it way longer than the rest, so you'd get one or two dishes every ten minutes, even though by the time we sat down, the lunch rush was over. First of all, the restaurant is nicely decorated with good lighting and very clean. Complimentary jasmine tea was honestly quite good, as far as complimentary teas in Chinese restaurants go. We tried their take on sour/spicy fish, which was less spicy and sour than the versions I'm used to but no less delicious (and the broth was good enough to drink, when normally you can't really do that). I will say I wish they gave more fish, but the fish was super fresh and tender. We also tried the oysters, which were enormous (genuinely some of the largest oysters I've ever seen) and very meaty. Really solid dim sum. Large, spacious and not busy at 2pm on a Thursday. Shrimp rice roll - thin shiny noodles, shrimp was on the small side but perfectly cooked. Pan fried shrimp chive dumplings - so meaty and juicy. Haw gao - status quo. Not the best, not the worst. Chicken feet - I've had better. It was on the dry side. Spare ribs - I love all the tendon and funky pieces. You can see and hear the wok going off in the kitchen and see that the chefs are all Chinese. Everyone eating was also Chinese, so that's always a good sign. We'll be back to try the dinner menu. read more

Hot. Ass. Mess. How does this place have 4 stars? I would give zero if I could. I have never witnessed such inefficiency. Their staff was literally running around like chickens with their heads cut off. The food tickets were all backed up and they would take them in no specific order. They were at one point piled up in a line, one on top of the others. I saw multiple customers asking where their food was. We got our first 2 dishes right away, and then nothing for almost an hour. We ended up paying for our 2 dishes and then we went to our tried and true Dim Sum spot where we got our food within 5 minutes of ordering. Avoid this place at all costs unless you don't mind waiting endlessly. read more
